O M G
Ilove Pawn Stars.
I am not sure about Oddities. That guy sounds like he has intimate issues.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

His personal life is his business. ^_^

Reminds me of the guy that makes a killing putting art togather with fly hairs

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I see the PawnStars rehab guy has a show of his own.

Jen, Victor and I were only talking about the animated films, not the live action ones, though they've done it in some of those, too. More like The Jungle Book, Bolt, Tangled, Snow White, Pinocchio, The Fox and The Hound, Beauty And The Beast, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum.

Oh, yes, and they did do it in 101 Dalmations, where Lucky appears to be dead, but soon turns out he's not. In Disney's animated version of Robin Hood, Robin "dies" in a hail of arrows while swimming across a moat, sinking under the water with bubbles coming up until there are none. A breathless moment, and then we find out he's not dead but breathing through a reed.

Here are some non-Disney animated features that dealt with that "almost" death: How To Train Your Dragon, Ice Age, Over The Hedge, Megamind, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, etc.

Sorry, just like to play devil's advocate sometimes. And no, not every single one of them is like that, but many are. Here's an article that deals with this very subject:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DisneyDeath

Did anyone notice there are more than twice as many births as deaths? I know no one wants to hear about people dying, but seems to me that eventually there will be no more room on earth for all the people that will eventually be filling it.

Have seen the 3D movies and the 2D ones. I really don't think the 3D ones are worth paying over $3 extra for. I'm fine with seeing them in 2D.

Haven't seen that Oddities show.

Poor Leslie.

I came across this blog about Tangled and traditional Disney animated films that I though was very good.

Old curmudgeon here !!!!!!!
I dislike anything Disney. Its more markeying than entertainment.I see the feature films as one long ad.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Anyone have a pic of Scrooge? (...lol!!)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I know!! I know!!
I loved the original fairytales but now there is such manipulation of the story line to fit thye toys for sale after the movie is released.Gag me with a spoon.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Well when you have a 4 yr old and an 8yr old, kinda hard to avoid Disney.

In 101 Dalmations, when did they think Lucky was dead? I forgot about that part in Robin Hood.

I think creativity has been thrown out the window anyway...I mean for pete's sakes they just came out with Yogi Bear the movie???!!!!!
And seems any real creative TV show they cancel.... ie "Pushing Daisies" one of the most creative shows on TV and they just drop it...what the heck!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - they cannot come up with anything original. They just assume the baby-boomers will bring their kids to see any movie which is based on stuff from their childhood. I expect movies based on the old board games soon - Twister, Trouble, Battleship, etc.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Oooo!! I want to see the one with Battleship! I always liked that game!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Spin the Bottle!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Dont go there.
I guess we all love the generation we came from.
My fairytales were read from Grimms Brothers and the Golden Books. Disney didnt appear until the Micky Mouse club. Then the theme parks.
I could see the world domination theme comming.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Jo, if the Grimms bros. struck a chord and were marketing geniuses like Disney, then we'd be talking Grimm theme parks and cheap toys. Every company would kill to have their market share.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I liked the agrariean culture of the 30's and 50's.
History channel is airing the story of cristmas.
No-one would believ how it began and what happened to it post WW2

What about the game Of Life

East Bridgewater, MA

Board games? Or bored games?

We're already living in Monopoly"!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Looking forward to seeing the movie Red Riding Hood, coming out in March. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM8V3cHdSC4

Speaking of Red Riding Hood, I loved the animated version Hookwinked that came out in 2005. That was a clever one.

Dexter is original, and that's a show that has done well. One of my favorites.

Amazing how well The Walking Dead on AMC has done. I've been watching that one, and I just love it.

JoAnne, when is that show about Christmas airing? I would like to see that one.

Jen, I don't remember exactly what part in 101 Dalmations that was, but somewhere towards the end.

Anyhow, Tangled was a very entertaining movie, and I cried a few times during it. Formulaic, though, and nothing really new and fresh. But it's very cute. Ever notice how there is always an animal side-kick in these movies?

It's like looking at an elephant though a microscope. Disney is more than just a money making machine, it spreads culture across borders. It's low fat and low salt, (unlike McDonald's in Leningrad Square...). lol

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am a Dexter fan and have netflixed the whole thing from season 1 since October.
I am on disc 3 of season 4. John Lithgow, man he is good.

The History channel has the real story of Cristmas. I believe its either Sat. or Sunday.Check Google before you trust my memory.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

JoAnne, I have not gotten to season 4 yet. Still working on 3. Need to catch up.

Will check on that.

Karen

I'm asking Santa for a DVD!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I'll check that out, Victor. Have you seen it? If so, how was it?

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

If it's the same from past years, it's good.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I'll have to watch it, then. Will DVR it, cause I'm working till 10 that night.

Karen

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)
