New England's Fall Colors 2010

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I sent you a few, Bill, but they were on that UPS plane...

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Bill - was it the Blue Shadow that I liked so much at your house?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

yes it was - i just like to have different color or shades of foliage - and the ice blue foliage of blue shadow is nice - all of them have the great fall color victor showed.

and i thought you had never given me anything victor:)

:)

Thomaston, CT

Yes, Iris, I know just what you mean......the whole family room glows when the maple turns color! Victor, beautiful color on all those shrubs....still haven't checked that darn crape of mine. Louise, love the sound of limbo gumbo.....what a fast grower.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yes, Robin, the gumbo limbo is a really interesting tree. The old time cattle ranchers in Fla. would use its limbs as fence posts for the cattle pastures. There are many stories of the posts getting no rain and no attention and when the ranchers would ride the range, they'd find that their posts were fully leafed out trees. I can see that happening.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, guys!

Nice P&C, Victor, as well as other pics. I love the calico look of the Autumn Moon JM.

Jen, that shot looking through the crape myrtle is really nice. I liked the effect on the thumbnail, as it was out of focus and made it look more 'painterly'. I hope you don't mind that I saved it to my computer and took the liberty of tweaking it a bit. Here's what I came up with.

This first pic is with an edge-preserving smooth applied to it.

Then in this one I also added a brush stroke effect on top of the first effect. I'll bet JoAnne could make it look much nicer with her real watercolor effects. Wish I could do a watercolor effect with my photo program.

Karen I love the effects you get with the pic you posted. So soft and pretty.
Bill those are wonderful pics as are all the beautiful fall shots on this thread. So much variety of color. Wish it could last through the winter.

Thomaston, CT

Karen, that first photo had a Monet look to it. Bill, marvelous color! Cindy has stayed purple, my no name has no color, & kasagyama looks crispy!

Wow Bill, you've got lots of color! Beautiful!!

Thanks to all for the GREAT fall tour! I rarely come to this part of DavesGarden but could not resist the fall color. Either y'all live in the fall-color capital of the world or are among the world's best photographers (or maybe a little of both?) I really enjoyed the wonderful pictures and appreciate you.

Wow absolutely gorgeous shot WC!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Wow, Bill - those shots are really stunning! Your yard must get lots of traffic from people leaf-peeping!!

WC - that is also a fantastic, beautiful shot!

Welcome, Rebecca! Please stop by again....these shots are the real deal and worth a trip up to come see it for yourself! Tennessee is also a beautiful place in the fall! Enjoy!

Bill love all the color...
I can't wait till my tamukeyama is all grown up!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Looks great, Bill - at least the thumbnails do! I'm still not able to view pics. Funny - my Omure yama was done a couple of weeks ago, yet my Tamuk has not even started. Nor has Orangeola.

Very nice, WC.

Welcome Rebecca! Please come back and feel free to share your own pics on this forum!

Gosh, and they say Southerners are hospitable . . . thank you for the nice welcome! Here in Middle Tennessee we did not have our usual fall color this year because of a mini-drought that only broke recently (perhaps that's why I particularly enjoyed your pictures.) But I tell you what: next year I am going to make a point of seeking out our best sites along White Oak Creek to send you some nice pictures from Tennessee.
