New England's Fall Colors 2010
Lovely pictures all!! Nice rocks Bill, did you leave the wall intact??
Victor, love that crape!
Jen, the horse photos are lovely, almost makes me wanna ride again.
Louise I have callicarpa here, and it does well. Just gave one I rooted to Sue, and she is colder than here. We'll see if it makes it there. I'd try it, I really like it.
Just what I was looking for, a thread on fall colors. I don't have time to peruse the pics now, as I'm getting ready to head out on a photo excursion of my own today. Will be driving down to Brystol, RI and see what's good down that way. Checked the foliage map, and we are in peak in this area now. Wanted to drive up to Rockport, but last weekend was their peak, so will have to wait for next year for up there. I think next year I'll get out to western MA in the Berkshires on one of the weekends
Will check in here later.

victor those are some great shots - the oakleaf looks great - much redder than mine here which is more bronze. saw those jm leaves sneaking in there with the callicarpa too.
color looks like it is starting jen!
Thanks, Debi and Celeste! Oh, how exciting to think we can have a callicarpa up there! If Celeste's hasn't died, we should have no problem! Do you two have yours planted in partial shade? Down here, I don't think they can take the full sun, and I'm wondering if that is the case up there. The sun is so much more intense here, so I'm not sure.
Jen - those are such pretty pictures of your drive. The horse farm shots are very cool. I like the close-up one the most, but they are all nice. Looks like a very nice outing!
Louise mine has sun until about 2 pm
Cool! I have a good place for one then. Wheeeee! I'll be filling up the car! But then, I could just start a small cutting instead. Thanks, Debi!
I really enjoyed those photos....Bill, I saw a great stone wall on my way to Cornwall Sun., & thought of you! Victor, the colors of the tulip tree & maple are great together. Jen, you did well getting photos from a moving car! Karen, you'll love the Berkshires.
terrific pictures.
Very pretty area, Pixie....I've never been to that area of Maine, but I like it.
Some wonderful fall shots on this thread. No sweeping panorama here sorry to say. White oaks mostly in my yard are still green, but most other things are colors from yellow, orange a touch of red and brown. Here are a couple shots. One is from last week, one from yesterday morning with the sun just coming through the trees. I could not capture the beautiful stained glass effect as well as I would have liked.
Nice Pat, love that last one!
Set out on an overcast day last week, but the sun broke out just as we arrived at the Hopkins Inn at Lake Waramaug. Perfect leaf peeping from then on, capped by an indulgent dessert at the Kent Choclatier.
Sounds like my kind of dessert!
Just noticed my Peaches & Cream JM has great color this year! Had nothing last year. Pics tomorrow.
Yes, pics please!
Well, I finally got a chance to catch up on seeing everyone's pretty pics. I thought about posting some of my own, but I'll only do a few. I've posted on Photobucket, so here's the link to my album there: http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r76/patchesandpeachs/Leaf%20Peeping%20Trip%20to%20Bristol%20RI%20part1%20Oct%2024%202010/
Also posted some on Facebook, and anyone who has FB here can send me a friend request if they would like. Only friends can view the pics I've posted on FB. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000501200615#!/album.php?aid=46063&id=100000501200615
Marilyn, You mentioned on some of your pics early on in this thread that the colors had turned dull. If you have a setting on your camera for taking pics in cloudy weather, then that will brighten up your dull pics on such days considerably. That's how I get my nice, bright colors on overcast days. Love your sunbeam shot, Marilyn. I love taking pics just as the sun is setting or right before. This time of year, especially, you get some really nice colors and shadows from the sun being so much lower on the horizon.
Victor, bummer about those pics taken on the florescent lighting setting. Do you have a photo program that can color correct? I can do that with PSP8. Too funny about the 'shots' typo! BTW, that photo essay was great. Love the shot of the tulip tree with the neighbor's maple behind it.
Bill, I love your shots of the rock walls with the lichen and moss. And the rock with the quartz vein was great. I would have been sooooooo tempted to take that one home!
Lucy, I love the color of beech trees in the fall, too. Most of the ones I've seen around here have just started turning. Will probably look really nice this weekend, so I plan to get out and photograph some of them.

Ended up posting that previous post before I was done catching up, so I was not finished and had to edit. Oopsy!
Karen
Celeste, even though you're past peak, it's still looking very nice. Still gorgeous color here and there. I love peak and just past peak, too. The oaks and beech here are not at peak yet, so there are still opportunities to get great shots. My neighbor's big maple is gorgeous right now. Will see if I can get a shot of it tomorrow morning on the way to work, if I'm not in a hurry like I usually am.
Looking forward to pics of Peaches and Cream, Victor!
Karen
Don, Hopkins Inn is a favorite of mine.....love the weinerschnitzel! Pat, very nice photo looking through the trees, & Karen, great shots in RI....the colors are really vivid.
