Marilyn and Bill - It is an Eastern Indigo snake - the longest snake in North America. This was a young one, only about 3 feet long. I think they can get up to 10 feet long. Haven't seen him this afternoon...hope he got the hint when I was banging the shovel on the ground.
Glad you had a good jury day, Bill! Hopefully, it was less mileage than going to work! Hank and I were listening to a group of people in the booth behind us at supper in a restaurant tonight talking about long commutes to work. Both of us thought of you. Hope you are hanging in!!
WC, your jury experience sounds dreadful! It's an important service for sure when you get put on a lengthy case.
Today's Weather in your Garden - 80
It was dreadful Louise, Dick Powell almost had another case to solve in our jury room!
Luckily since then I've only had to serve 1 or 2 days, I think I'd excuse myself from another case if I was seated, due to emotional trauma suffered from that first one! People were screaming and throwing furniture around... - Ugh!!
Wow WC!
I was a juror for a murder trial, only lasted about a week, but was stressful. Seeing photos of the scene, and some of the evidence wasn't pleasant. Then I did grand jury recently, which wasn't as bad and kind of interesting, but I still think about some of the cases once in awhile. I learned quite a bit, but I'd rather not do either one again.
OMG, Louise...that snake gets 10' long? Hope it doesn't come back! Wild jury, WC....I was called twice, but no case either time.
I was never on a case. Deadlocked juries could certainly be crazy.
It is 40 right now, & sort of foggy cloudy.....going off to work for the 1st time in 5 years......
Congrats & good luck! ☺
51°, wind SW 8mph, cloudy, clouds thickening
expected high is 61°, showers & thunderstorms possible later today.
commute to framingham was still an hour and i got lost too - lots of loud talk in my car - the directions on the jury duty notice was in 6 point type which i can't read without cheaters on and can't see to drive with.
supposed to get some t-showers today - 60
Have fun, Marilyn!
Ugly day. Dark overcast and 49.
Cloudy, temp 45°. Rain predicted for the afternoon.
rain has hit down in pat's area
53 and sunny. Better than rain at this temp.
Wow, WC....I think I'd ask to be excused myself if I had to go through that again!
Thinking about you today, Marilyn! Can't wait to read your post on how it went! Bravo!
Bill - I'm sure there were no 4-letter words being bandied about in your car, right??? Good for you....I love it when someone other than me has those breaks in patience....makes me feel more normal! lol Today I had one of those breaks when I about tripped over the Indigo - this time in the front yard, as I ran around to pull up some branches so the yard guy could get through the area in front of our living fence, which, I might add is completely filled in and private except for the area where I need it to be the most!
Ok, this is the weather thread......pretty hot out there....88 degrees and more humid today. The girls just go out and sit in the grass and look at me as if to say, "Now, what is it we like about Florida????" LOL I'm sure they'll adjust, and it's not so bad that they aren't feeling like wrestling all day! They seem quite subdued today!
they probably saw the indigo!!
louise with my commute it is turning into a daily occurance with mulitple instances. was actually thinking to myself yesterday as i was yelling at the car in front of me going 5 mph UNDER the 30 mph speed limit if i would be able to not yell with passenger(s) in the car or would i just react.
Bill is correct. Dark, cloudy rain a couple rumbles of thunder earlier and now hail added to the mix. Crazy weather. Lots of leaves coming down too with the sudden gusty wind. Temp is only 47 degree and the gusty wind is from the NW.
Spent 8 years doing that, Bill. Not fun. Ave AM commute was 1 1/2 hrs, with many 2 hour ones.
Pretty out there, but windy. Clear and 50.
showers are over, wind is still blowing. I'm glad about the showers as we are going to see 'Pirates of Penzance' at the high school tonight. the last time they did that one was when our youngest DD was a senior in HS. She is now 45.
enjoy lucy!
hoping for a (*(^ !!! free commute home:)
Have fun at Pirates, Lucy! Sounds like fun!
Bill - remember that a hot temper can kill you! The next time you get outraged, think about that! I can't imagine doing the commutes that you and Victor do/did. Sounds dreadful! The longest commute I ever had was 50 minutes, and I didn't even like that!
It's a horrible way to start your day. Luckily, I left by 4:30 so the return trip was only 35 minutes - the true driving time.
i get it both ways - this will be coming to an end here in a couple months just in time for the snow to fall THAT would be bad!
?? Changing jobs?
Well, my commute was 10min. today...I was in a 3rd grade....nice to see some of the teachers I worked with at one time or another, but it was tiring...only 16 kids in that class....my smallest for years was 25. While we were watching a video on insects, It began to thunder, & hail....exciting! When I got home at 3:15, the sun was shining, & the dogs got their walks.....I'm ready for bed! Louise, that indigo MUST go!
Hee hee! Glad you enjoyed it.
A HS principal in Washongtonville was fired for inappropriate contact with a 16 year old girl. How dumb are these people???
Very dumb....they are throwing their whole career away, plus retirement, plus their spouses.....they must think they're invincible...
And it included texts - duh!!
the contract will be ending - although i have not heard any dates yet.
Had some drizzle today, windy and sunny this afternoon
low was 41 high was 64
Bummer.
we only got a sprinkle here - what a surprise
I'll bet you ARE very tired, Marilyn! Just trying to anticipate what MIGHT happen on your watch is enough to wear you down, especially when it 's been 5 years since you were in a classroom. Good for you! You DID It! You're BACK!! lol It's only going to get easier from here as you make your reputation with the kids! Third grade must be fun! I like that age.
i had Mrs. Whickett in the thrid grade and she was as mean as her names sounds
Aha....probably a good reason you saw her mean side, Bill! lol
I think when my son was in second grade the kids called their teacher Miss Miller the Kid Killer. My son liked her and didn't know why they called her that.
Because it rhymes.

nice day only getting to 53
It's 41 now, but heading to 55...no frost yet, but tonight seems likely.....then 70s for next week? Yay.....I'll take it! Was not tired this morning, so next week, when I work Thurs. & Fri. will be the acid test!
