Topsfield Fair attracts the "Big Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

I wonder what they do with those big pumpkins? Pumpkin pie, or pumpkin bread?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

those pumpkins are so loaded with chemicals to get them that size they could kill someone

South Hamilton, MA

I think that they are grown for seeds, certainly the 'inside' is too tough to eat.

East Bridgewater, MA

Yeah, but what a yummy way to leave "this mortal coil."

Here's a lit bit of info about the Pumpkinfest & Regatta:

Highlights of last year’s festival included a big parade complete with Maine’s new record pumpkin weighing 1,210 pounds. Can't wait (or should I say weight?) to see how much this years big pumpkin weighs.
Dessert Contest , pumpkin painting and carving judgeing and of course....
Pumpkins of various sizes were thrown, hurled, shot, and dropped thanks to record-holding punkin chunkers and catapulters, and a 150-foot crane taking aim on a retired police cruiser! ^_^

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

You want any info on giant pumpkins ask Doc on the MA forum

Same here....going to the apple orchard with a friend.....hope yellow jackets aren't too numerous...I was stung yesterday, & the swelling is finally down. The YJ was on the inside of my car door handle...went to open the car...zingo! My neighbors heard some creative words.....

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Fun pumpkin stuff you guys. Love to see and hear about those sorts of fun activities.
Finally a morning with actual grade A sunshine, yippee! Seems like a long time since that has happened. Should be nice all holiday weekend too. Chance of frost however saturday night, not so good, but it is after all leaning towards the mid of october so there it is, the time is fast approaching. Present temp is, yep you guessed it 57 degrees. It should climb up to around 70 though so good news there. Wind now is fairly light from the west but should get a little gusty later today.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Nice day, if hubby gets home at a normal time we'll be doing a corn maze

It was a great day! Didn't go into the orchard to pick, because the bins in the orchard store were full of fresh ones.....so I tried lots of varieties.....Melrose, RI Greening, Northern Spy, Jonathan, Jonagold, Rome, Baldwin, Mutsu.....
