Joyce, got a kick out of you saying you camping and then in same sentence mentioned the Comfort Inn..all the comforts of home...did you purchase anything at the craft show, ohhh sounds like something I would have enjoyed..the cement birdbaths must be similar to those we made, but we don't use leaves, we use hole in the ground but add leaves to the bath along with bobbles..
Best I offer to make coffee or the guys, it' cold outside and I'm sure they need some warming up, maybe offer them some pie..know I'll not have to make them lunch, plenty of leftovers to eat
Laura, how did your day at the craft show go?
If you don't see me on later you'll know my computer was unfixable...
Best/Worse/What did I learn/chat about our day!
Betty...he will take my car ...its a given.
Glad to hear Thanksgiving went well, and no burning!
There have been some horrible virus' going around in computers. DH had to take mine apart and do the same a couple weeks ago. Then it got Shannons school one (laptop). It is NOT easy to get out.
I hope all goes well with the windows....you will so enjoy it afterwards!
Betty, I told Paul we were meeting Sunday morning.....he said "want me to just drop you off on the way home from the concert, you can sleep on the Cracker Barrell front porch with the Rockers!" The concert is way up into downtown Buffalo...so will be going by there on the way home! lol I am so excited to see George & Reba both! OHH and you too! (smile)
Debbie
Well, Jeff and kids just left, have another thanksgiving dinner to go to and he has my computer up and running, oh happy days!!!
Bernie is making me a list of a few items I need at Home Depot for them to complete their job so I'll get them lunch then go supply shopping.
LOL, Paul has it dead on, now wouldn't that be something, you spending the remaining hours of your night on the verandah of CrackerBarrel.. would Saturday have been better to meet up?
Might be harder for you seeing Paul needs your vehicle? don't want to put you out..
Betty I would have been livid, Remember mine just told me that she's having Thanksgiving dinner at Debbie's and that she would admit herself into the funny farm before she would ever come live with me, my feelings are a little hurt, more about the Thanksgiving dinner though. WE have to remember, though, that they are still our MOM's and they're not always going to be here. If she's in la la land because of her pain meds that explains a lot of her outrage, my mom is on very low dose of pain meds and she's not the thinker she once was. I wouldn't feel comfortable with taking her to Buffalo either. Yikes!
Stacey you are such a good mom! Betty's right about some people just not being into babies, I know I'm not. When someone brings in a baby I am always the last one to visit and always the first one to leave, I'm not a baby person, never have been, never will be. Bella was at our work for an hour and I sat out there to chat with my co-worker's partner Cathy, but as for Bella I don't want to hold her, touch her, nothing. I'll talk to her when she starts talking. LOL
Dianne how sweet, baby snappers!! He's right but so what.
Mary sounds like you had a great time, even though a shoddy hotel, strangers banging on the door asking for someone else, husband scaring the pee outta ya, lol
Debbie you poor thing, dang when is this dark cloud going to leave you guys alone??!! Tiga used to do that, but as she's aged not so much anymore. She used to leave these 'furballs' in my office chair all the time. She hasn't hacked up a furball since she's been on the steroids. LOL Your DH certainly knows you!
Betty glad your computer is back up and running, I wonder why you get so many viruses, do you know what antivirus you have?
Well the sun is across my computer screen again and I can't see anything, so I guess I'll throw some clothes on a go take care of the dogs next door, and see what other mischief I can get into.
Crissy, think it's more people who drop in from time to time and add programs etc. but I'm operational now, Jeff told me to save my pennies and get myself a laptop, we'll see!
I'm totally exhausted, almost ready to call it a day!
Bernie and Tim left about an hour ago, they had Thanksgiving dinner to go to, windows are in but have to wait for trim; Bernie said you never can tell, they might be back tomorrow morning to finish the job, otherwise it might not be till mid week.
We're getting old, Bernie could hardly move his arm today, old injury! Must have told him 10 times to go home but he said no I was paying big bucks for time and 1/2 working on Sunday and Sunday of a long weekend at that..lol
Finally back deck done, I can put a line through my 2010 to do list for this project.
Gave 3 pies away today, have a few for Greg/Melanie to pick up, made 10 t.v. dinners with leftover, omg, was so glad my July swap buddy sent me plates that had divisions, there was even an area to put a cup but instead I filled it with gravy;
After feeding the 12 and the 10 t.v. dinners, lunch today I still think I almost have 1/2 turkey left....do you think I went overboard or what?
Off to finish dishes, sweep/quick wash of upstairs floors and it will be bath/jammies and early to bed...
Hope you've all enjoyed your day...
Wow...Betty...you're the hostess with the mostess! :o)
Had my bath, now I'm waiting for a call from stepfather, apparently my mom is not doing well, can't even lift her feet off the floor, I checked out the new meds the doctor gave her GABAPENTIN and although is says it makes you tired it doesn't list the lethargic symptoms she's showing; last night she could barely life her feet and was on a real dazed 'high'...told Jim to take her off the meds and if she's not better by morning perhaps it would be better to get her to a hospital...I JUST know she'll insist on still going to Buffalo
not easy getting old is it?
Oh Betty, that all looks wonderful. The food and the windows!
With the extra turkey, you could freeze a couple simple cassaroles OR make a pot of turkey soup, freeze, and just add some egg noodles when you defrost and eat. Will be nice for you and Rose on cold nights.
DH said his car is a total loss. Will need a new engine...not going to happen I don't think.
I have not been a nice person today, all children under the age of 20 are on my last nerve....and DH is getting there too. I just know it is lack of sleep and too much on the mind.
Debbie
Sorry to hear about the vehicle Debbie, will be difficult sharing yours. You just have to do something for yourself to rid yourself of the stress, maybe Dh could give you a massage????
Going to give leftovers to greg because even if I made something or wanted it for soup I've no room in my freezer; at one time wanted to purchase an appt. size freezer but lordy I'd never use it.
Darlene just called and we chatted until I could feel myself falling aslleep, lol, going to make hot chocolate, piece of pie, pain killer (legs are paining) and go to bed..
Betty, he went to get me RC....better than a massage. He hasn't done massages in 10 years at least. He has a remote, he needs nothing else. lol
Debbie lol a remote, isn't that the way of every man though! LOL LOL That sucks about his car, just another thing you didn't need.
Wow Betty, Joyce is right, the Hostess with the Mostess!! I'll be there in 12 hours to help you with that! LOL
Well I've been lazy lazy lazy today, wish I had some bubble bath.... I'll have to get some tomorrow.
Hello To All !
Well - Betty - DH would be making a Turkey Sausage Gumbo... OR... how about the dehydrator... can't you make "Turkey Jerky" ?? I bought some Turkey Jerky once... The dinner looks Delicious ! Your new closed in porch looks awesome ! Would it be fun to have a cot out there to sleep in the Spring ? You'll have to send a view from inside of the yard...
OMG Crissy ! I tried to sit in jacuzzi tonight... just couldn't sit still... but had some "Ache & Pain" crystals... I can HARDLY move from this weekend... walking funny LOL....
Sometimes you just need a "lazy day".... hope to have one next weekend..... I'm not really a "Baby Person" either... I love them from afar.. LOL.... attribute it to having one by myself... with the nearest relative 300 miles away and no money for sitters... so 24/7 BABY Responsibility!... YEARS ago... but Stacy... just realize it isn't meant in a bad way... just how some folks are... (((HUGS)))
Debbie Debbie Debbie ! Well - you deserve some ((HUGS)) ! Gal so glad you have Reba and George to look forward to ! AND Betty of course !
Joyce ! I think you did "Find Mary".... if I read it correctly the first one is right... YOU WIN THE PRIZE! LOL on your camping trip! Sounds like a LOT of fun... Our Renaissance Festival nearby is like that... set outside so you feel like you're tramping around a little town.. booths in tents... Can be lots of fun... MAYBE something to put "ON THE LIST" for when Betty brings you all to visit me... !!! LOL! It's usually an October/November thing...
BRB! ((HUGS))
Mary
Well - DH & I went to Cracker Barrell (again) for Breakfast this morning...
I thought about Deb & Betty & looked for Uncle Hershel's Breakfast.... LOL!
WE drove back... Here's the NEAT unexpected thing... There was a HUGE HUGE "Antique and Classic Car" show in Gulfport/Biloxi Mississippi this weekend....and our drive home coincided with the end of the show... so the first highway we took... we saw a veritable PARADE of gorgeous antique and classic cars driving on the other highway .... then when turning on I-12 to home... following BUNCHES of the cars on our side... I mean probably 100+ vehicles... saw a 1960? Chevy Nova convertible..... mustangs, Model A Trucks, chevys, etc. Awesome ! DH Was texting me the whole time... various year/makes/models... Was a quick drive home...
Then of course the hardest part of being away... Being back home... Backyard almost dead from drought... Laundry....teens... BUT
I am SO GLAD I WENT!!!!! Not sure if I would have done all this but had YOUR encouragement and I am SO thankful !
The Gal (25 years old!) who danced next to me 'friended' me on FB... so if you want to see a video... just friend me and it's on my FB page... I "Shared" it... Her BF's video was much better than DH's video...
Deb - I was kind of rebellious in college, not really a loner but on this team probably more so... so I didn't have really any BFF's to run in to... but the gal to the right of me in the pic above danced with me back then and was Very nice and friendly... and I have a lot of good memories...
I was "83-"86.... There is a nice lady from my neighborhood who graduated in 1965 that I know... a gal who was four years ahead of me from my highschool...and a few gals who we vaguely remembered each other... And then the gals who I remembered from doing this in 2006....but it was VERY NICE.... and everyone seemed to have a comaraderie....
((HUGS))
Mary
Mary, just can't seem to recall a class photo of mine all having such gorgeous ladies, wow, would have been difficult looking for a boyfriend with that much competition..lol..back to reality, isn't it the pitz, oh well, you can dream of yet another adventure. Bet after all was said your hubby enjoyed it as well and to get to see an antique car parade well that topped it off didn't it? CrackerBarrel?? did you end up purchasing something in their store? I don't usually get out not doing so.
Stacey, Mary expressed my sentiments well; not to be mean, I love to see and hear about babies, they are all adorable, to be cherished but I think I'm overwhelmed by them as I can't figure out their way of communication, but Stacey PLEASE, please keep telling us all about Jonathan because before long he'll grow into the age that we'll want to take over.
Debbie, don't we all have our stress foods to put us on a high, glad he though of the RC!
Crissy off to get some bubble bath this morning, after all the work you've done on our horoscopes you must be exhausted.
Any of you doing something special today for the holiday, just remembered you said few get it off, drats..that's not fun, having a holiday and not giving it off.
Looks nice outside, I've not been overdoing with putting yard art away, just here and there I grab a piece and set it in it's winter home.
Think I might have slept in today had Sailor not been nudging me; now that I am up I've a few pieces to paint and a cookbook cover for 4 books to design so I can start getting them painted, don't want to be doing it Christmas eve do I?
Lordy, might have gotten charged for being obscene this morning
used to getting up and getting dressed without thinking someone might see me because of the draping, this morning I did same and lordy remembered 'no curtains' lol thank goodness most of the neighbors are still sleeping.
LOL...Betty, you're a hoot....
Awww look.....Mary got to hold the sign! ^_^
Today is no different from any other day for me....sigh....I haven't been able to apply for any jobs since my son took our computer. He saved our documents, but he forgot to bring them when he brought this laptop so I haven't had my resume. That has to change soon, cause I still need to be applying for jobs!
I checked our local weather forecast a minute ago...It's unbelievable.. calling for 80's and 70's this week (84 today) and only a 20% chance of rain on Wednesday. No frost in sight for us. Hard to believe it's almost the middle of October and we still have green trees! We're usually getting near our best time for color and we have very little. Of course with the dry summer we've had, we will probably go from green to nothing anyway.....
Hope you enjoy your day off, Betty...I'm on my way out to water!
Morning everyone!
Wow, sounds like you all had a very busy week-end!
Betty, that dinner sure looks good, and lots of left overs too! Love a cold turkey sandwhich!
Joyce you had me chuckling - my idea of camping is when they don't put chocolates on the pillow at the hotel/motel.
Stacey I will really miss your daily updates on Jonathan - don't stop. When Jonathan starts to date you can haul this diary out and show it to his date. lol
Mary - you looked wonderful in your pic. So glad you decided to go! Stormy my GS is 10 years old but looks and acts like a pup. Actually he has to take Amitripylne every day in attempts to keep his paws on the ground or he would be bouncing off of the ceiling.
Betty do you have any pieces left?
BBL
Dianne
A 1960 Chevy II Nova Convertible.... let me think, I think the first Nova was built in 1962 with the convertible.... seems that's a very rare car, I grew up with car shows and what-not and I've never seen one, I used to drag race a 1965 Nova, a 1969 Nova, and a 1972 Nova, plus my dad's mom had a 1969 Nova.
LOL I lost my place! I have a staff meeting to go into anyway.
Dianne, pieces of what?
If you mean wood pieces, yikes I've a back room filled to the brim with pieces that need painting. As for the cookbook covers made of wood, yes I do have one extra!
Mom called me this morning at 9:00am..was so angry that her next door neighbor called me..said she was going to cut down on drugs the doctor gave her and ASSURED me SHE is going to BUFFALO this weekend unless I don't want to take her; I'm not going there..lol
Debbie just finished your floormat, turned out ok..I'm not a chicken painter but you will recognize the primitive chicken. Went through a few of my primitive pieces and found a few more than would meet your decor so will box them up as well.
After mom told me that we are indeed going, I started to wrap a few swaps and items promised (LindaKay yours and your dad's is wrapped and ready to travel) now for my Oct. swap box, Debbie's memorial box and I can get on to playing with the recipe book...was going to type all family recipe's out for the book but I see grandma's handwritting, Roger's handwritting, Roger's mom's handwrittting so though for those why not just photo-copy so they have a bit of them along with the recipe's..
Mary, wasn't sure what you meant, a photo taken of the entire back of the deck or photo taken of the backyard from the deck?
Although I've the airconditioner sitting on the stoop and a few other items that are getting stored this aft. I took on from the garden viewing the back
Joyce, your weather is terrific, it's sunshine here but it's only abut 55 - no frost last night so that was one good thing. Yikes, best get your job info back so you can get working, feel so badly for you all who so want to work but no jobs, must be frustrating as old (*&^!!!
Greg's picking up the turkey LindaKay so I made myself 2 sandwiches to last me the day, shouldn't have because I've trays of veggies, dip, cold meats and fruit to be eaten up..might send them along to Greg's with a lemon merangue pie.
Debbie's floormat..she knows I'm painting her one so it's not a surprise..she needs a smile anyway..love you Debbie!!!
I'm not a chicken painter
LOL Betty you could paint the alphabet and make it gorgeous. I don't blame you about not wanting to go there with your mom, good grief she's adding stress when there doesn't need to be any stress.
...
I'm just typing the horoscopes out of a book, and if it's instructions or basic information I can type it once and copy and paste it to everyone else. I type 70wpm so it's not a big a deal, if it was I wouldn't have suggested it.
I need to get to work, big big big conference coming up this week and need to stay on top of my work so it doesn't get behind.
Crissy always some type of stress it seems, even for our girls weekend away..I spoke with my cousin Linda this morning about our yearly shopping trip which will be Buffalo this year but is same weekend as Hamburg craft show, imagine that, she couldn't change to another weekend as Suzanne had hoped we could as she spent this weekend in Frankenmuth, going with a few other girls end of Nov. to Penn. so couldn't change the Nov.4th trip, still waiting to hear from Rita, know she's busy with Christmas parade and events all of Nov./Dec. and doubt she could change the weekend either, hate disappointing anyone but maybe Suzanne can find someone to babysit her grandaughter for that weekend so she can come as well...
Linda also has another girl wanting to join us, if we use 2 cars then maybe we can add her to the group or if Suzanne is definate that she can't go then we'll have Linda's friend be the 4th.
Knowing we'll have mega fun that weekend I'm not stressing out about mom, if it means I take her shopping for 10 minutes and she tires out then it will be a quiet weekend in a hotel and I can still go do a bit of shopping myself or head back home..not end of the world but my telling her I'll not take her might be!!!! lol
Such a quiet day, still waiting for Greg to drop in, have a few chores for him to do, i.e. find a winter home for the aircondition sitting on back deck, take roof off gazebo, the rest I can do myself.
Imagine that Rose won't be home until late afternoon seeing as they were in Quebec for the weekend..
Should I or shouldn't I get dressed?
We type about the same Crissy, worked on Greg's laptop but it doesn't keep us to my typing ??? is that normal??
Better get back to work girl or you'll have to stay late finishing the convention paperwork.
Betty there is too many people to call and change the date with for just one person, I know she's your sis and all but sheesh!!
I don't do the paperwork and it's never finished there, there's 300 signed up and by the time Friday afternoon comes we just throw the crap into cars and haul *^*& getting outta there. It sucks that it's 5 hours away from my house, so even IF the speaker gets done speaking at 3pm like he's supposed to, I won't get home until 9pm at night. With getting up a 6am and having no sleep Thursday night and doing it all again all day Friday, that makes for a VERY tiring week.
Me thinks you love the action even though you are exhausted when you get home, a nice kind of exhausted!
Greg just came and got the meat off the turkey, 3 plates full, didn't want to take the carcas and he convinced me that today is a good day for homemade soup, so on the stove is a pot of soup..I'll be turkeyed out by tomorrow.
Rita just called and said that the 4th was about the only weekend she could also go except perhaps the 1st weekend in Dec. - Dec. I'm thinking SNOW so no go..she also has a friend who would like to join us..told her if she doesn't mind driving her vehicle I'll drive mine and we can all go, share the rooms equally in cost. Must wait until tomorrow to see what Suzanne has to say before asking others to come.
LOL I feel like a saleswoman by the time we're done. I hate that type of exhaustion because it's both mental and physical and is dangerous to drive 5 hours.
Wouldn't they pay for a room for you Crissy, surely the effort you put into these gatherings warrant that they do?
Yes they do, we're up there Wednesday thru Friday, its a 5 hour drive one way.
mmmmmmm sssoooooouuuuuuppppppp
What's good is my dad and his girlfriend are coming down, they only live an hour north, on Thursday night. I just don't understand this place though, they stick the two people who they know don't get along, together.
LOL see what happens when your husband comes into the room wanting something RIGHT NOW! Pieces of pie I meant to say.
Boat comes out of the water tomorrow. *SIGH* we never seem to get out in it as much as want.Stacked wood close to the side door so have easy access to it. We heat with wood 99.9% of the time although we do have an oil boiler system and infloor heat in the downstairs. DH is thinking winter is going to come early.
My microwave croaked last night - actually it caught on fire. I am estatic I can go out and buy a new nuke as this one was as old as the hills. Any suggestions of what type to get? Open to all suggestions.
When I was walking Stormy this morning I saw this black streak cross the lane and thought OMG that's a fisher. Turned out to be a runaway dog. Poor thing was frantic but he really set Stormy off - Stormy hadn't had his meds this morning so he was flying high. I no sooner started back from Amen Corners and this stray to be greeted by 2 dogs at Mitch's Corner. Stormy flew home after all that interaction. I more than had my walk this morning.
BBL Dianne
LOL My husband will be at home. I wish he would come, I wouldn't have to share a room.
I bought a great big Sharp countertop microwave with 1100 watts, ran like a charm for about 6 years then "pop!" it was done. I think my new house has a Kenmore, seems like the person who built the house liked Kenmore appliances, I find them not very well built, the motors and all last, but the hinges on the things seem to be weak.
LOL Dogs are hilarious!
Hello To All !
Oh Betty - the Cracker Barrell store always has such cute and interesting things! I didn't let myself purchase any but really wanted to... they had a Lot of Halloween costumes and stuff and some really pretty Christmas items...
LOL! About the curtains!
Joyce.... Yup... I got the sign ! ("Here's your sign" as the comedian says LOL!) My sneaky way of not having to "suck it in" for the pic... ROFLOL!
Yes It's amazing how many businesses require an online application... I didn't realize until DS was looking for a job... My company is hosting a Job Fair Oct 20...and they are all demanding we sell more booths. Sell Sell Sell....Beatings until we do. (sorry I meant meetings until we do). It's just tough still in this economy...
Dianne - I'm with you on the "chocolates" thing... Crissy's horoscope even says so ! I "might" camp in a Comfort Suites... though... !
Crissy - DH may have the wrong year... maybe it's a 62...but I've never seen one.. not a convertible... Now I wish I had gotten a pic... I almost did thinking Someone on here might be interested....
Betty - I re-read my sentence and yes - it does not make sense... I guess I mean the view from the porch of the yard. I remember a friend with a beach house growing up and we would always sleep on the porch... so nice and relaxing... like CAMPING LOL
Dianne - by "Fisher" do you mean "fisherman" ? Wish I could help... we have an Amana and it has been fine. But nothing is made like they used to be. Our Kitchenaid refrigerator has been a HUGE disappointment...
Stacey - How is Jonathan's day ? I bet he is thriving now being at home with Mama... But a LOT of work as I remember (or sometimes don't remember LOL)
I'll pop back in a bit...
Hugs,
Mary
Morning, on the run trying to get everything in order for the girls to come today, although I had every intention of doing much yesterday, staying in my p.j.'s made me realize a day of rest would be much better so didn't do a thing after 11a.m. Merlin series was on, why I got interested in them is beyond me but watched it right through to bed time.
Cathy dropped in and then Ann, must have chatted non stop for 1 hr. Ann was a bit apprehensive about Mike's chemo today, she's going with him so likely won't be back in time for t.v. bingo but I'm to play the cards and win the $$$ for us.
Gab when I get to work
Good morning to all.Well camping was great beautiful weekend . Betty very disappointed in craft show no new crafts to be seen. came across these small square pillow covers and went to ask crafter how these were made and he tells me they are made in china. How can a crafter get away with that!? Then as we were driving back we came across the town of Thurmont Md. saw alot of activity too tired to stop so we asked around and found out this town shuts down and has crafts and food venders for Color Fest 2nd weekend of October we went on Sunday and saw alot of the same crafts but people were really friendly and food was great. Now laundry and trying to wait out the insurance co. for flood that happened 2 weeks ago..Good day to all.
Laura, that's disappointing, much like my Meaford show; guess you didn't purchase any??? So looking forward to the Hamburg N.Y. craft show and if I don't treasures there I still have the Markham show to attend.
Insurance companies sure are there to collect premiums though aren't they? perhaps they are waiting just incase there is more flooding.
Stacey, how did you make out with Jonathan this weekend? Is your mom still visiting, bet that's a great help!
Mary, fisher's are critters that you just don't want in your neighborhood, one time they were few, now, omg so many..danger to small animals..
Ohhh got my Mercury reading from Crissy, especially liked
Sometimes you may seem eccentric, for your ideas are advanced and you also enjoy saying things that shock other people.
You sure are putting a lot of time and energy into this Crissy, thank you, thank you.
Suzanne came to work this morning and said she's ok to go Nov. 5th. so all is well in my world, now Linda wanted to bring a friend and Rita wanted to bring a friend so will have to see if someone else wants to bring a vehicle..one less worry about Suzanne being left out!
then Suzanne said Lenny her DH was at Paul's (BIL-boss) on Saturday
and he asked Lenny if he thought he and Suzanne would like to go away the week between Christmas and New Years, said the offices will be closed, yikes, could that mean I'm off as well, would work well as mom wants me (YES MOM!!) wants me to take them to Florida to bring home their belongings as she's finally accepting she'll no longer be able to spend the winters in Florida re insurance rates and her not feeling well..I always wonder where the other 3 kids in my family are??? lol
