They were! Even now, I'll say the word Ollie, & Robs ears will prick up....can't take him to Ollie's house, because Robs bites...he likes my son & DIL, but I've never let him near my grandkids....

No biggie here but to remind you how time flies. Mr G. 3 months old.

Is that not the picture of pure contentment? luv it!

Thomaston, CT

Another handsome one! I like big dogs....would like a Borzoi......

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Borzois..very regal looking dogs, I think they are sight hounds? They like their exercise so be be prepared to run like the wind with them
Marilyn ;) I remember being behind a car that was full of Borzois and they all had their heads hanging out the windows,it reminded me of the Greek goddess that had hair of a snake ..what was her name?

I really wish people wouldn't let their dogs hang out the window. Too many injuries.

South Hamilton, MA

Not good for their eyes.

I let Mr. G hang out the window but only his head. He cant jump out the window, plus he only does it for a few seconds.

I do not approve of people letting dogs sit on their laps while driving. I dont care if its a tiny ankle biter. All it would take is something for them to snap and an accident could happen.

Thomaston, CT

My Suey tries to sit in my lap....I'm getting a crate, even though she'll chew through it....pointers have teeth like wire cutters! I have about an acre fenced in here, so exercise is no problem...plus I walk every day. My Irish wolfhound was very content with a daily walk....she was really a couch potato!

South Hamilton, MA

Carrying a pet in a crate is really the safest way. On long trips they usually nap.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wall-e falls asleep in the car

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

we either do the crate or the seat belt harness

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, cute Mr. G. Happy Birthday, a little late!

I don't like dogs hanging out windows, either. Patches has tried it once or twice, but I nipped that in the bud. It's especially bad for them if you have to slam on the brakes.

The dale is very good in the car....usually just looks out the window or snoozes....however, if another car pulls alongside ours, he goes ballistic. He was a doll the winter we took him to FL....Suey worked on destroying the metal crate. She finally got through the soldering when we left her for a few hours to take a trip on Lake Dora....also took down the blinds , window screen, & jumped out the window...didn't leave the yard, thank God. Took her to the vet's for tranquillizers.....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

OMGoodness!!! I would of sought out some tranquillizers too!!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

amazing what they can do sometimes

East Bridgewater, MA

The dog toys that occasionally release kibble are a good way to keep 'em busy, especially if there are 3 different toys used at once.

It is based on the psychological law of "Intermittent Rewards"; getting a "bonus" every few minutes keeps the dogs pursuing the "goal."

It is the exact same "law" of psychology that casinos use for SLOT MACHINES.

It paid for those lavish casino/hotels, and all of the neon lights, to boot.

Thomaston, CT

Suey is now 6 & is no longer hyper....well, a little. But she is very smart & toys help. Robs is 8, but because he's a dale, acts like a puppy still.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I couldn't possible do a crate LOL! But Atticus and Harper are great passengers, they just lay on the seat and snooze.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, I'll never get an Airedale! Bassets are more my speed. I've had my share of hyper dogs, and don't want anymore. I love my unhyper Patches.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I might be getting another Patches soon. He looks like my Patches brother, and is from New Mexico. I've already filled out the application to adopt him. I'll let everyone know how it goes. http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/17616780

That would be funny to have Patches and Patches. :-)

Good luck Karen!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Awww cute, hope you get him, will you have to go pick him up?

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Oh Patches #1 is so cute...what a face! Good luck with Patches #2!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Since he's from NM, call him Patchitos! Good luck and have fun.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, everyone!

Victor, I like that idea. Actually, Patches #1 is originally from Arizona. I got her there shortly before moving here.

Jen, there is an organization called Operation Roger that comprises volunteer truck drivers who transport pets cross country for people, and I will be going with them to get Patches #2 here, if it works out. http://www.operationroger.rescuegroups.org/
