Glad you've figured out a way to get your fix! :)

Thomaston, CT

Am going crazy with just 2!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

LOL, Marilyn! Bailey had her appointment today to clear her cells of the toxins from the poison. Wow, does she have energy tonight! Amazingly, Bailey found another acorn and started to crack it open, but Carli FLIPPED OUT and let us know Bailey had found one and was being a bad girl. Glad Florida doesn't have acorns! LOL....just snakes and poisonous toads. Arrrrggghhhh. We have to watch her every minute until those trees are cut down. We scoured the area but she found the one that was hiding. :( Glad Carli wasn't asleep at the switch. She was such a big sister about it!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

and you still have Hope, it's not like you'll not be busy even with one...maybe a little more normal and a lot cheaper food bill

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

good job Carli!!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wow that's amazing Louise that she knew that it was going to hurt her sister.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

That's great that Carli warned you like that. What was Bailey poisoned by?

Karen

Thomaston, CT

I still shudder when I think how close to death Bailey came.... Carli is the best sis ever & smart! Suey is very good about not eating anything she finds....Robs will eat everything.....I think he was so sick 2 weeks ago because he was eating apple drops.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nope, was to mesmerized by the puppies but I love it!

Thomaston, CT

Yorkies have that typical, quizzical terrier look...so cute.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Adorable photo of you and the babies, Allison! I agree....what could be better?

You are so right, Jen! Carli really gets it!

Karen - she ate acorns and almost died.

Marilyn - Poor Robs....the apple seeds also have cyanide in them. I have learned a LOT now about what "harmless" things have really scary aspects for pets. I've never had a dog that ate everything before. Our homeopathic vet did several tests and found out that almonds are the one nut that won't hurt Bailey and might curb her "nut craving", so she now gets 2-3 almonds a day. (Acorns and the other scary nuts are all in the nut family, and she seems to want them) . :(

Thomaston, CT

Wouldn't she just? They're all alike! Soon you'll be back in FL....she'll be safer. There was a couple in the feed store today holding a white dog that I thought was a Bichon. I asked & the lady said, "No...she's one of those cotton dogs". Thought I didn't hear correctly, then it dawned on me. It was a Coton du Tullier....very cute.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

are peanuts bad for them.. my girls eat them all the time

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Peanuts are fine unless you find they are allergic to them

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

If I go put some out for the blue jays... the girls go crazy until I give them one.. Lily will just run back and fourth jumping on me.. they love them

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Marilyn, my Patches will eat anything, too. I have to keep an eye on her. I have never seen one of those 'cotton' dogs.

I heard a similar story about a dog like Gunner. I think he, too, was a bomb sniffing dog, and was a yellow lab. After a terrible hurricane (maybe Katrina?) he became extremely skittish. Ceaser Milan (the Dog Whisperer) took on his case and he became much better, though it took a long time.

Nice pic of you and the Yorkies, Allison! If I had the money and a bigger place, I would have a lot of dogs, too. I would love to have an Irish Wolfhound someday, a Harlequin Great Dane, and more Basset Hound mixes. Maybe others? Who knows....

Well, I'm certainly glad Bailey made it through alright. I didn't know acorns were bad for dogs. That's one thing Patches has not tried to eat, thank God! Oh, btw, you mentioned you take your dogs to a homeopathic vet. I have begun homeopathic remedies for myself, and will certainly try them for Patches, too.

Peanuts would only be bad if they are chocolate covered.

Karen

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

never never chocolate

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

My dog eats crab apples as we walk, doesn't seem to bother her. I try not to let her but there are so many fallen she manages to get a few.

Thomaston, CT

I think they are OK in small amounts, Debi. Karen, you would love an Irish wolfhound....I've had dogs my whole life, & they are just totally different....their life span is only 6-8 years...that's the heartbreaker, & why we couldn't get another......

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Lady from church telling us about her German Short Haired pointer...everytime a deer comes in the back yard the dog gets in his pointing stance as he looks out the window...I want to see a pic of that

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

My black lab used to do that with squirrels, we have no idea why.
