What have you ordered or would like to 2010/2011 #10
You hope! My wife never used the word catastrophe.
Wha, can't find that sale. Patti
Whoa! My DH complained if he saw the UPS truck stop....had to hide the pkgs from him, but after they were planted he professed to like them....maybe he lied.
My husband used to complain about my garden spending on occasion, but he's given up. I think he finally realized that I am making the yard look nicer each year and he really does likes the gardens almost as much as I do. Often, he is the one encouraging me to buy a new tree or shrub. For the most part, though, I'm the caretaker. He maintains the lawn and I maintain all the garden beds. I definitely have the bigger job!!
I've told my husband if I die before he does, the only thing I care about is that he take care of my gardens when I'm gone. I told him I don't even care if he gets remarried within 6 months - as long as my gardens don't get neglected. He says he'll have to hire a full time gardener to keep it all up by the time I'm done. Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing to myself - it is a lot of work. I love it, but I already have more than I can keep up with. Now, if only I didn't have to work...
I've said the same many times, Christina. That's the main reason I switched gears to more trees and shrubs.
My wife complained more about the time spent in the garden. In her defense, I did spend a lot of time out there when I was working. It did not leave much time for other stuff. She never complained about the cost since I never let her know! Same now with photography eqpt. ^_^
I don't get too many complaints about the time I spend working in the garden, but he is in retail management so he works nights and weekends a lot which is when I spend time in the yard. Yeah, photography equipment isn't cheap!
Not from the NE, but saw so many people I recognize from others forums I just had to say Hi. We're still blooming here in KY, even after a 26-28 degree couple of nights. In the mid 70's yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Doug
Hi Doug! Feel free to stop in anytime. But don't gloat about your great weather! ^_^
I spend a lot of $ and time in the garden, but I think DH would rather have me in the back yard than lots of other places!
i have used that one myself deb:)
Me too.
Ditto. Much better for me to be in the garden than hanging out with buddies at a local watering hole!
Doug
My gardens helped me deal with DH when he started failing....very hard to watch a beloved spouse dying by degrees.....my gardens took the pain away somewhat, & on nice days, I made sure he sat outside to watch me work.
My DW doesnt complain since both of us spend $ on plants. However we are cutting back since we have so much to take care of and we're not young anymore. I have to switch gears next year and start planning and planting for a dry flower garden. DW and her cousin are getting back into wreath making so now I have to use some veggie garden space (unused). Some of the annuals though will be potted up and placed out back (which could stand a little dressing up). I can't complain though since some of those wreaths fetch up to $80.
Frank, your wife grows the plants to put on the wreaths? That's a great idea.
I used to make wreaths, and may I recommend siberian irises? The seed pods on those are very nice.
awesome Bill
Looks great! I tried the solar christmas lights in mine - looks awesome lit :) Thanks for the suggestion!
Really nice!
glad to hear yours look good soj - stuck mine in yesterday to test - nothing yet.
got my ace of hearts today and will post a pic later - i think this buck run nursery in PA is a winner - big tree at less than half the price for same size tree at rarefind - my fedX delivered it to the complete wrong address and the guy that received it called me and i drove over and picked it up this morning.
Love the lantern. Will be happy to see a night time shot with lights on from you two. Must look terrific.
Glad you got your tree okay Bill and at a nice price.
DH planted the 8 reticulata iris bulbs we picked up on Sat. That's all folks.
I love the reticulated iris, Iris! They look so nice in a big group! Bill, awesome lantern....and aren't you lucky you have an honest neighbor?
Love the Lantern!
You two can send coded messages to each other!
That lantern is gorgeous. Are you going to use the other top with a rock formation of some sort?
and it's already in the ground....did you have the hole pre-dug waiting for it?
Nice lantern.
Hi Doug, pop in anytime!
Love the Lantern Bill!
weeze i will probably do something like that - have not decided - waiting for harbor frieght to have a sale to buy a hammer drill - maybe i will make my own lantern?
jen it is still in the pot just buried for the winter - will expand more beds/remove grass next spring and it will be planted then.
thx celeste
Victor, I got those Hellebores from Deer Resistant and they were perfect. Great source. Thanks, Patti
Glad you liked them, Patti. Dave is a great guy and always sends good stuff.
Yeah, but you still had the time to dig the hole for it. ☺
digging a hole takes 10 -15 seconds:) had to dig 9 more for the peony i am also over-wintering. just glad i had the pots.
Just planted my hellebores.
Takes me a lot longer to dig a hole around here Bill. No doubt rocks, less leverage and way less muscles have something to do with it.
Looking forward to pics of all these new hellebores and trees you guys.
there is a jm coop over on cubits with mamajack about to start - some very nice and unique selections - these are small 2 yr. trees - not sure i will take part yet - may wait till spring and get a few larger trees.
Wow, tough decision, Bill!
Wha, I was checking it out too, but waiting to see if you had ordered any, before I thought further. Patti
