That I did...should have stuck to shopping instead of out in the rain picking rocks Joyce...brrr. chilled to the bone!

Going to wash and scrub my rocks and call it a night....

Hope you've all enjoyed your day..

BEV! Shame on you....your not supposed to be doing that. I am glad your feeling better, but Hon you need to take it easy a while longer.

Hugs, and those are beautiful flowers!

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Gorgeous flowers, I'm with Debbie, you should NOT be out doing that much should you? what do they say 'can't keep a good woman down?' Did the Dr.'s give you the ok to be so active? lots of questions this early Sunday morning...so glad you posted to let us know how you are doing...still waiting on update from Laura and Tubby..

Diane, how did you fare this storm...lots of rain and wind?

Debbie, did Paul get the vehicles going and did you enjoy your day with the girls in Rochester? guess you are having same weather as I, not much to do but to stay in, feet up and read..know how youlove to read!

I've already got coffee in hand, have plans to paint a rock, make a carryall bag, similar to the ones I've made, just with a quilted look and if time permits who knows what else...

Jeff said he'd call today and let me know their plans as to wether or not he'll make it up this afternoon or tonight and am not sure when the young lady will arrive for her 4 month stay, Ann will be coming over so we can design the 'cookbook' cover, so it's a wait and see kind of day..guess I should get out of my jammies though just incase someone arrives...

and what do you all have planned?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

That santa reminds me of the one Chris got from my mom a couple yrs ago for Xmas-his is only about 1' tall though....

Victoria Harbour, ON

How are you feeling this morning Stacey, still having pains? Guess you are getting nervous...when is your last day at work?

Making that bag in another pattern - 5" blocks, not as quick to do as the others I've made but think it will be ok...

While my basecoat of the rock is drying, I'm doing tunes and working along however, with all this dampness it's taking much longer to dry..must get a heater near it...

Off for breakfast..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey, wanted to mention, did you recognize the Georgian Bay photo? Same place I took a picture you you standing on the shoreline...got the Santa and garden items for my swap at Meaford Warehouse where we went shopping; pretty well did all the stores you and I did..lol..

Old shopping habits die hard!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Yeah-still having some pains, but are fewer and farther apart now...which is good-this baby needs to stay in there for at least another few weeks. My last day of work is whenever I need it to be-I don't see myself working past the 1st week of Oct though.

Had my breakfast as soon as I got up-a bagel, a yogurt and glass of chocolate milk-YUMM:) It's kinda weird that I haven't had any strange cravings. I want fruity stuff (like the jujubees I have been eating), jello, cherry icees (which has become my new addiction) and stuff like that. I bought a black cherry pie at the store yesterday and had that with some vanilla ice cream last night-boy was that ever tasty. Our oven hasn't been heating up right and Chris keeps saying he will fix it....well he is leaving for a month on Tues, so I think after he is gone I will break down and call a repair man. I have been really wanting some sugar cookies and meatloaf (not together-LOL). It seems the meals I crave are home cookin types like meatloaf, spaghetti, chili and stuff like that.....

I keep forgetting to look for any Paula Dean cook books when I go to the used book store too-I love her show and the stuff she makes-none of it is fancy and it all the stick to your ribs type stuff-plus I just love her laugh!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-I did recognize it!!! I knew there was something else I wanted to comment on, but a pain hit me and I forgot what it was-LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

So you are really craving 'sweets'..a good thing to do Stacey is to cook up different meals that you can freeze so that when the Jonathon comes you'll be able to enjoy and not worry about cooking! As soon as he closes the door Stacey, have the repairman's number ready..me, I could do without an oven for months at a time but you enjoy cooking, it's a must!

OMG Chris is going away for an entire month? Where is he going and will he be close enough to get home should you go into labor, yikes that's not good..are you fretting?

Wondered if some of the names I mentioned would come back to you, jog your memory..lol

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Yes I am stressing a bit-he will be 12hrs away for the first 3 weeks and then 4 hrs away the last week:( It's for work, so nothing to be done about it...

Actually Betty-I hate cooking, but like to bake;) Chris does a lot of the cooking-my repertoire is a the length of a magnetic note pad page;)LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Praying that Jonathon waits for his dad..how stressful for Chris as well..here I thought you enjoyed cooking..ahhh you have a hubby like Roger, I'd start to cook, stir the pot and he'd take the spoon and say it was done in totally different manner, finally I said, 'cooking is now yours' and of course his loving it as did his father he took it over without a word..

I'm moving along here, I'll have to show you my projects later....the rock I'll have to d-mail those that want to see it..progressing slowly, takes quite awhile to dry each coat but decided to bring it upstairs and set it near the stove ring, that ought to cure the wet paint for next step...lol always a way!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm not in the swap - will you d-mail it to me??
Stacey - how long have you been having these pains? First thing Tues you should let your Dr know about them....Hope they ease up a lot more for you.
Bev - no overdoing it now you hear???
Mary - sounds like things are busy down your way too.
Tubby and Shirley - Where are you? We love and miss you both.
LK - I love that fabric Betty got for you; it should fit in well with your others.
Crissy - how are you doing today? Has the cough finally ended?
Off to visit some friends this am. BBL Barb

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I want to see, Betty!!! I bet it won't be as good as mine.... ;o)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Barb & Betty-no worries ladies-the pains stopped this am, so all is well now.

Betty-I would LOVE to see the rock:) According to Chris I don't make anything right, so I just let him make it all. He doesn't say so when I make it of course, but later down the line he does. Our latest is that he thinks when I fry up hamburger and onions that it is dry. When he does his he adds some EVOO to soften the onions and I think it is too greasy-I told him that burger has enough of it's own grease to soften them. I think what happens is that when he cooks, I eat right away and he usually waits til just before he goes to bed and has to reheat it. Well, of course when you reheat something it isn't as moist-duh. He also overdoes the EVOO when he cooks pasta. I have told him to just add the oil when he rewarms his food instead of greasing mine up so much that it slides all the way down to my intestines;) Men love their fatty stuff-uck....

I almost forgot-Betty, I asked a while ago if you had any dragon embroidery pattern thingies and you'd said you would check-did you end up finding any??

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry Stacey, no didn't have any, I'll ask my girlfriend who has same machine if she bought a disk with dragons and the likes...

Don't think many couples enjoy cooking TOGETHER!

Sending you photo of the rock ...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you are feeling better Stacey, might of been something that didn't agree with Jonathon..must check, have a cousin Jonathon but perhaps you are spelling his name differently?

Got my bag done, did a rock, laundry all put away, back is killing me, not sure why? wanted to paint 2nd rock and decorate a wreath for back flower shed but might just call it a night, well maybe not just laying down doing nothing, lol, working on that scarf with the funny frilly wool..

Check in on you later

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

We are spelling it Jonathan:) Thanks for checking on the dragons:) Maybe it was something I ate, but I'm not sure. I was told to feel my belly and if it got hard it was contraction. Well, my belly did get hard, but was sure all along they were braxton hicks ones-too weird and irregular. If they are real they are supposed to get closer together and strengthen in intensity. Nice bag:)

Lyndonville, NY

Well Betty...I am holding you totally responsible for this. 100% your fault.

I have a basket full of homeless kittens.....3 of them. About 3 to 4 weeks of age.

Just what I don't need.....and ya'll need to start taking a collection to pay for my divorce....because he is NOT happy at all, nope...not.
Told me "DO NOT" bring them in the house....
there on the couch in a basket.

I am in SO much trouble.
Thanks Betty!

Debbie

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Good luck, Debbie....I'd be in the same boat!

Love the greens, Betty.

Glad you're feeling better, lil Fairy...

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Debbie, how on earth did you manage a basket full of kitties..don't you be blaming me girl, the white cat and the one that looks like Riley with the white on it's tail is still here..I asked you nicely if I packed them up would you take them, but no, you didn't want my Canadian kitties and now look what you've done!

Just know you will try and find a home for them right? say right Debbie!!!!! and don't you bring me one, or two or three when we meet at Cracker barrel...only excuse I'll have for not bringing them home is the border patrol, nope they will not let me...

You have a heart of gold Debbie, now tell me, do your animal shelters take in strays such as you have..wasn't from one of your kitties??

Can just here Paul now..

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty, ALL of my cats are spayed/neutered from time of six months of age. I am definately on the "spay/neuter" program.

No, these kitties were abonded down at the golf course where Shane works. And his "co-worker" who is in charge...hates cats. Lets just say my son saved them from certain tragedy....and he knew he had to call Mom, and he did.

Yes, doing my darndest not to get attached....and they will get homes.
The shelters around here are FULL....and it being a holiday weekend, most closed. BUT will make calls soon as I can on what to do. Hopefully our Vets office will post pictures of "for adoption" babies.

Baton Rouge, LA

Bless you Debbie for saving the kitties ! I just can't believe folks are so cruel....Well - I can but I just hate to believe it !!

Labor Day weekend plans all gone due to the stomach virus. WE are all well now though...thank goodness.

I'll touch base in a bit

TUBBY!?!?!???

Good Morning.

Finished my blanket and decided to make a pillow to go with it.
My friend Lupe loved it.
So here is the blanket, it's folded in three.
the main part is prequilted, the back side is white with all the bears randomly. I added the last pink row and did the ruffling.
Also appliqued the heart. I discovered under wonder!!! Baby's name is embroidered in the heart.

Mary, hugs to you sweetie, thought you were over it..almost a week now; am sure you've been to the doctor's???

Debbie, Aline/Darlene and Danie would certainly each take one, sure wish they could come over to my side of the border, they love animals as you do! So glad Shane called you...

It's another dull, rainy day here, just drisling, enough that you can't do anything outside so will play downstairs in the craft room...lots of material dragging that can become 'pressies' so off to make another bag..after making about 15 of these I've got a system down pat...I won't disappoint my boys, they always say 'so what did you learn to do that is new? just know everyone in the world will get one!' soooo hope they like a bag...lol

Guess my boarder will arrive sometime this morning or early afternoon...

Better get a move on

Glenview, IL

Here is the pillow, you can see the back side. (lol forgot I had a pic.)

Oh, A friend of Julia's was over while I worked on pillow. Asked me to make his son a blanket for Oct 6 birthday!

Judy it's beautiful..omg, who would have thunk it, you are just loving sewing; see now, your embroidery talent is coming into use as well! No wonder they loved the blanket, hand made especially for the little one.

Been missing you, thought you might have gone to the cottage?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Too adorable, so Judy, did you create the bear with wonder-under and do the stitching around the bear by hand?

So are you going to make the blanket? Doesn't leave much time..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Very very nice job on that blanket and pillow Judy. I'm really proud of how well you are doing. Always new you had it in you and it's great that you seem to like what you are doing as well. Being asked to make something, to me, is the highest compliment there is......
Happy Labor Day everyone....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Labor Day to you all as well, lordy, with all these days off I almost forgot it was a holiday!

What are you up to today Barb? Do you get together and do something special with family?

With us, it's simply a holiday-day off, now next month is our Thanksgiving, I'll do it all up then just like you all do at your Thanksgiving..

Riley is meowing, wants to go play outside so best I let her out!

Ohhh Barg, going to work on September blocks later this afternoon, just have to get myself in the swing of things..lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

As a Labor Day holiday we don't do anything special but because it's my b'day today we are having a family night at my daughter's and watching the DVD we got of Blue Man Group!!! Pizza and birthday cake - who could ask for more????

Glenview, IL

H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y Barb!!
Sounds like fun day with family is planned, Enjoy every minute.

Ohhh, Thank you Betty and Barb. Yes, I really did enjoy making it.
Barb, got to say, I agree with you, I was so pleased when Aron asked me about the blanket.
Originally his question was how many have I made, told him about 15 throughout the years.
Then he asked if I ever sold any, no all mine were gifts, Asked how much i would charge to make a blanket.
You know, I haven't a clue how much to charge....Barb, know you make a lot of items for sale at crafters, maybe you can
d-mail me with a hint, how much something like these might be?

As it turns out Aaron is also a gardener!! He showed us photos of his crop, very nice...Well then we talked about the mess my yard is in and how my tiller is still not running...He said I can fix that for you, I also play with small motors! I was ecstatic to hear this. I told him if he fixes my tiller, I will make him a great blanket! We shook hands on the swap...Such a deal.

Betty, yes...the bear and the hearts were applied with the wonder under!! LOL, Next best thing since you introduced me to Podge!!
No, they were not sewn by hand though, didn't have time...But as you can see more practice is needed to sew with machine.

Opps, got taKE jAKE TO FOOTBALL PRACTICE, BE BACK IN A BIT., yikes caps got put on, sorry.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Judy it sounds to me like you made a great swap - tiller help for the blanket. It sounds very reasonable.
What I try to do when pricing is to figure the cost of all the material and batting. Then I add between 1/3 to 1/2 of that amount for my labor. If it is a really challenging pattern, I charge more. You will NEVER get what your time is worth but that's my guideline for me. I have known of some who just double the amount of materials also. I must admit I also try to take into consideration the circumstances of the person I'm making it for....especially now with the economy the way it is - I undercharge when I can. It's sort of easy for me to do that as I have such a large stash of materials to pull from. Then I would probably just charge for the batting.....It really is just up to you to charge what you think is right.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Aw Judy-what a sweet blanket and pillow set:) And the baby's name will be Justina??

HAPPY BDAY BARB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Debbie, you are one sweet lady to take tin the kittens. I would too no matter what DH said and I would go smack Shane's co-worker upside the head for even contemplating them coming to harm...just like a human baby, they didn't ask to be born and certainly didn't ask to be abandoned. I bet you could put signs up at the pet stores too. Make sure to put them at child eye level so they can beg their parents for them;) tee hee hee

Betty-you are too cute when it comes to Xmas-you like to be santa to everyone:)

Happy Labor Day everyone!! I miss the holidays when I was at home. My whole family lived in the same small town and every holiday we would go over to grams, with each family bringing about 3 dishes. Grandma would always do the meat, a potato dish of some kind, depending on the season, and the desserts. It was always fun until someone got a stick up their butt (usually grandpa) and their was sooo much food. We always brought home a TON of leftovers and picnicked off them for a couple more days.....Now Chris works a lot of those holidays so we don't do anything much and when we do get together it is with his family which is a very different experience. I have suggested maybe making Thanksgiving more like what I grew up with, and it didn't go over real well, so I guess I will not be having a good old fashioned (for me) holiday anymore......oh well....fond memories though:)

Lyndonville, NY

Happy Birthday Barb!

Mary, feel better....please....and go to the doctor. Don't make me ride my bike all the way down there to haul your behind to the doctors. It won't be a pretty site! LOL

Judy that is a beautiful blanket and pillow....you have such talent.

Betty, good luck with your new border....I hope she is a nice person.

We have a day filled with more car repairs....and its rain in the forecast. NOT nice out there at all, and he has to do this in the driveway...no garage.

Off for more coffee.....tomorrow is my baby boys first day of Senior year.....ohhh lordy, please do not let me cry.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just running off to teach June how to send an e-mail on her new computer..got the bag 1/2 done and yep, love being Santa....Roger always said 'if you are in the telephone book almost sure you'll get a gift' lol

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB, hope you have a sunshine day and get lots of pressies and may they have to do with sewing..

Stacey, hard to get families together these days..everyone have such busy lives, I see what my boys do with work and families and just shake my head..hardly a moment for breathing..

Debbie you are lucky that Paul is able to work on vehicles and not have to bring them to a shop ..

Judy, they say that you should charge twice the price of the cost of the project..rule of thumb, am sure that doesn't always work..like you, I prefer to barter, that way you are getting something for the time you put into it..

Better run

Victoria Harbour, ON

Young lady's name is 'Rose', she and parents are now off for lunch, they've been camping in the rain these past few days!

Hard to remember how I travelled, said she'd be travelling light, omg, don't know where she'll put everything..
maybe I'll have to move out..lol

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh yeah Betty-your boarder is finally arrived!! I guess the definition of light is up to interpretation huh??LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes it is..I must have misunderstood as well, said she'd only be going home every a few times a month..oh well, guess I'll have someone to look after the furries when I go to Buffalo..

Her family left shanghai (?) when she was 9; her parents own a franchise store in the city and both work it but find time to be off together..Rose is in her final year for Civil Engineer..nice young lady..

GUESS WHAT! she loves to sketch and craft..lol

She's off for a walk, lordy almost feels as though it's going to snow out there so am sure she'll not be long; wanted to know what goes on in town, not much, very quiet..lots in Midland but she doesn't drive..I'm sure she's not a club and party'rrrrr!

Well my back is giving me the what for, not sure what I've done, finished my 2nd bag, will clean up my sewing mess downstairs and might even have a hot bath and get into jammies, need drugs..lol..am walking hunchback.

Did take things out for supper, will cook, hope I didn't get that part wrong about me NOT cooking meals.

Do tell me it's hot in your neck of the woods.
