Hi all !!! BEV

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Wow-I guess everyone in the other room sure liked my bead idea-now to see Betty weigh in on it:)

Betty-I didn't get this "needed 0-66 for the $2,600...called 3 numbers after I need it but no go..adrenaline was pumping though..lol" was it a Bingo reference??

Mary-you are better than I-if my son or any other kids we may have were to act so badly as to cause my stomach to be in knots, you bet your sweet bippy there would be consequences. The thing is that if they act that way toward you and DH the odds are they treat others this way too. They need to see it is unacceptable even if their bio-mom is the reason they act this way. I know you are just the step and the way you and DH appear to have it set up is that you don't really do the punishment for them, but it is still YOUR house, not theirs.

Susan-sorry you aren't happy with your performance-we are our own worst critics you know...I am sure to others it sounds lovely.

LK-he is sooo cute!! Getting a glimpse of what we will be bringing home in a couple mos...

JUDY-did you see the season finale of Drop Dead Diva?????????? OMG-I cried and kept yelling at the TV!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Mary, I agree with Stacey, it is your house, and your rules should apply, not thiers! They may be 16 and 17 years old, and they should be old enough to know better. If not, they would be told in my house, that will not go here!
Stacey, I think she was talking about the bingo numbers! Oh well betty, better luck next week!
Thanks for the compliments of Xavier. I hope this is it for them, this one makes #3. She now has 2 boys and one girl.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Stacey YAY for your babies stuff! Excellent!

Nice to see him LK, thanks for posting, he is a cutie and 104 hours of labor is insane.

Betty LOL Greg and Noah! I guess he thinks sometimes that you don't know what you're doing, worried about Mom, that's sweet!

Judy I must have missed where you posted about your daughter, I'm going to have to go back and read it. Good Grief.

I am doing better, I'm hacking up all kinds of crud, I just want to get it out but it's grossing out my co-workers, Oh Well! I want to be tested for COPD, I'm betting I have it, along with my chronic cough and chronic Bronchitis and my chronic brain.

I've got to get to work, have a great day everyone!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy, haven't stopped since I got in the office, another hour and back to the thread...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back, things are now at a halt so I've time to play..watching 'SALT' on the movie channel here...that's got to tell you something!

Stacey, yes, on Tuesday night I play bingo on t.v. - it is $6.00 for 3 cards, we play a total of 5 games, jackpot if $2,600..nearly got it..lol..close just isn't close enough though..

It's 90 and feels 102 with humidex, quite breezy..storm going to be coming through for sure...tonight I'll behave, besides, want to go straight to Midland and price some screen panels to possibly screen in back deck, someone told me that if it was screen (year round) that the snow can't get through the wee holes..I'm trusting they know..

COPD is what my dad had Crissy, sure hope you don't have it...with all this humidity am sure it's not helping a whole lot..have you spoken to your mom today?

LindaKay, Xavier is just too adorable, omg he's a big boy..doesn't look the worse for wear does he...still hard to imagine being in labor that long, should go in the record books..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Crissy - don't even joke about wanting COPD!!!! I DO have it and it's not anything you would want. Want to go shopping? Not unless someone drops you off at the door as by the time you walked from a car, you can't breathe. And then pray this store has carts that you can lean on as you walk. Travel? Not alone. You can't manage luggage, and walking through terminals and still breathe too. Just doesn't work... Of course, there are always people at an airport to help but what about a train station or a bus? You don't even have the breath to climb the stairs of a bus. I can still drive but I must give myself a few minutes to catch my breath after getting in the car and buckling up. As long as I'm sitting and not really exerting myself, I can still do this. This is why my beautiful quilt room downstairs is being moved upstairs. I can't do the stairs anymore without a huge amount of effort. I continually have a rescue inhaler in my pocket at all times.
Surely you don't want to live like this, especially as young as you are. So PLEASE, my friend, don't even joke about wanting COPD>>> Hugs, Barb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Barb, saw what it did to dad, sure wouldn't want anyone to suffer from same..glad there are things you can do to make life a little easier...
hugs for you dear friend!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm doing exceedingly well according to my Dr. I'm still very mobile as compared to so many others who must use a scooter or some such to get around. I'm still maintaining my independence. I consider myself very fortunate. Of course sometimes I get angry at me for letting myself get to this point. I kick my own butt when I can't walk with the grandchildren for any distance or I can't go to a game or a practice because it's too humid or hot. But then I think of all the things I can do to make me, them and others happy and that's enough for me. And enough of this!!!
I've been sewing today and got a couple of things done. Sorry I can't show yet....
I have a small box almost ready to go to you -- when cleaning out downstairs I found some black/whites I thought you might like along with a few others... Hope to get things shipped out by the weekend.
Speaking of a weekend, last weekend Norm and I went to the big city (Boston) to see the Blue Man Group. It is something I have wanted to see for years and Stacy and her family got us the tickets for our anniversary. We were in the fourth row from the stage. They were very considerate and showed me a ramp to use rather than the stairs. Much easier. And the show was just fantastic. And then Norm took me to dinner after. All in all a wonderful day.
Off to see about dinner.....

LOL I don't hope I have it, I have something, one dr in CA said I have Chronic Cough, another said I have Chronic Bronchitis and a mild form of Asthma, my dr here asked if I have ever been tested, no I haven't, so instead of letting every cold I get hang on for months and months I'd rather be tested and KNOW what's wrong instead of just guessing at medicines. I DO have something that is asthma related, the asthma medicines, like Advair, work when I have a cold and wheezing, but I'm not wheezing so he didn't prescribe me any because it probably wouldn't work. It's not normal to have chest colds hang on for months without getting better. I don't have asthma attacks, or shortness of breath, but this constant itch in my lungs and bronchial tubs and coughing constantly because of it is annoying!

Big big hugs Barb! Glad you had a wonderful day, and dinner!! What a sweetheart Norm is!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Thank you Stacey & LK ... you are both absolutely right ! And (((HUGS))) to Judy for my call. I got to VENT and that feels SO good !
Like I told Judy - I've asked DH.... "Did you treat YOUR Dad like that"? and of course he did not... neither did I... I suppose it's guilt that he doesn't lay down the law...but I've taken the stance as of late that I'm not even going to be involved. If their own parents won't discipline them .... who am I to? I'm just the stepmom who is suppose to pay for everything, bring them everywhere, and do everything. Okay - there I go venting so THANK YOU for your patience !

Barb ! I am SO excited that you went to see Blue Man Group! You may not remember I posted the same on here May 2008.... DS and I went... just the 2 of us... We went all the way to Universal Studios to see them and spend the day... It was a Great show ! So glad ya'll got out....

Well I found out the other reason my stomach was in knots... I have a stomach virus...woke up very sick this morning and called in to work... NOT a good day to miss...

Hope I make it in tomorrow... still not 'up to par'...

Hugs,
Mary

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I didn't get that Crissy wanted COPD either, just a diagnosis so that she knows for sure what is wrong with her so that she can have the proper medicine instead of any guessing.....

Mary-would you do all those things for ANYONE else that treated you badly?? No missy, you wouldn't, so you shouldn't for the kids either. You are the adult and all those things are extras. Taking them to school, paying for school things are a must-all the other stuff is extras that when I was growing up had to be EARNED. My mom never doled out $$, if I wanted an extra $20, I did things around the house to earn it. If I wanted to take the car, I had to replace the gas, if I wanted a ride someplace for my friends and I, I had to do something small. Also, if I acted up in any way the answer was always no way.

As a side rant (and not related to Mary), I think a lot of kids now adays have a sense of entitlement. They are used to getting every and any thing they want with little to no effort on their part and their behaviors are explained or rationalized away as part of the growing up process. You can see these kids every time you go someplace-they are the ones that act out in public as if the world is their own personal playground. It just irks the crap out of me and I want to smack their parents. When you are a parent, a main part of your job is to make sure that your child is a productive member of society and we all know from being in the real world, all you are entitled to are free air and taxes. Everything else you have to work for. OK-done with my side rant, I am just sick of seeing these kids every place I go......

Have an ultrasound this am and then an OB appt...oh joys, more peeing in a cup and some stranger pressing all over my belly-sooo excited;)LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Stacey, you must be getting excited, bout being so close to your due date. But I also know that I was tired of being pregnant all summer long. My 2nd one was born Oct 1st, and I was so ready to have him! Take care, and listen to the Dr. Are you still working?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well, only those with step children would understand just how difficult it is, husbands can get quite defensive when it comes to their children, children play on that, as well think parents feel badly that their marriage didn't work and go beyond extremes to let kids do what they want, although it's not in the children's best interest..know I'd still be at the farm had I not stood my ground with step-children and grand-step children..you make a stand to teach them right from wrong and got to tell you that you just might find yourself alone..but, it's our responsibility to teach the youth of today what is needed to be a productive citizen in the future..I will give children all I have, will entertain them to the fullest, spoil them but won't take any disrespect..old fashion I guess ...but my grandsons know this and still love to visit even though I've rules...but then they are my grandchildren .. step children and grandchildren, totally another breed...soooo bad that I would never enter a relationship with anyone who has children so that just tells you I'll be alone from now to eternity..lol

Stacey good luck with your OB appt. - will be waiting to hear if your due date changes..

Barb, how wonderful for you to have gotten to see Blue Man Group, I must be ancient, never heard of that group until Mary mentioned it..what a great outing..now how far is Boston from you??? When Roger was alive we would go to Worchester just outside of Buffalo, had a friend who lived there and another friend who worked bar at the Hawaiin club..love Boston, kept getting lost in that traffic spoke though, maybe a gps would help getting around town a bit easier..think Ann/Mike will be home today, have to call and see how their mini-trip went..

Still no news re 'Tubby'....Tubby we're all sending hugs and prayers..you look after yourself sweetie..ooops hope Shirley isn't listening..lol

My grandchildren Caleb and Braedon called last night, asked if I'd like to have them for the weekend, surely would..Braedon told me he passed grade 8 with being on honor roll and got Principle 'Student of the Year' so if I have them visiting this weekend will have to go pick up something for him..on Saturday I'd take them to Collingwood and do the Caves then Sunday we'd go to Canada's Wonderland them park..that would keep me out of mischief...lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you going to have a busy, and fun week-end Betty!

My son's grew up with a step Dad, and they did not appreciate it at the time, but they were diciplined. They were not allowed to get away with crap, and pulling stunts. Now they come back and say Thanks for all you have done, so it does matter how you treat them!

Tubby and Shirley, please know we are sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way! Pop in when you can and say hello!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

And the boys in high gear - that's for sure!!! I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
We're about 1 1/2 hours out of Boston if we go highway. If we go slower and more scenic it's about 2 1/2 hours. And that's if there is no traffic. On Sunday when we went south to Boston, we had all the weekend campers from Massachusetts going home plus there had been a Blue Angels show on the coast and folks were going home from that too. It took us nearly 3 hours to go down but only 1 1/2 to come home!!!! But it was so worth it..
And yes, Betty, you need to be a magician to figure out traffic patterns in Boston. People love the history there but forget that the streets were laid out then too and they go every which way out from Boston Common. And they seem even narrower now because the city buildings are so tall....What breaks my heart though is to hear them complain about the cobblestone streets. I love them and I also love how it makes you slow down your speed when you are traveling on them. Anyway------
One more small cabinet to go through downstairs and it will be at least cleaned out. I'm sure I'll find a few pieces to top off your box and hope to get it in the mail tomorrow. Before Earle drops in!!!!!! Not looking forward to the pounding rain and wind we are looking at but we will be snug inside here. Norm's job this afternoon is to get anything that may "fly" put away from outside and to bring in the plants and bird feeders. They know something is coming too as they are fighting to fill up on food. I've had several here that I haven't seen before.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yea, I've been waiting for Tubby and Shirley to post, sending hugs and prayers.

I didn't get a step-dad until I was 28, and still don't have a step-mom, per say, I don't think I could ever see my dad's girlfriend as a step-mom since she was 7 years old when I was born. We're just too close in age, she's younger than my husband!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Barb you lucky girl seeing Blue Man Group! How cool! I've always wanted to see them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Barb for my care package..lol..material I shall cherish..watched the news this morning and thinking more on the coastline will he hit but then I guess only being 1 1/2 hrs. away you will get hit..funny how birds/animals can feel it before we do..Sailor sure puts on a show when she knows a storm is coming..this morning she was jittery so moved a couple chairs near the cabinet that has the stained glass lamp on it as Sailor tries to get under it and one day I'll be minus a lamp shade..I put too much time and $$$ into making it so try to protect it when I can..lordy, even Cathy when she knows a storm is brewing will come and do the same...lol

One of these days Barb you just might find me at your doorstep!

Crissy, I was thinking this morning about my conversation that I had with Lisa, my ex-daughter-in-law, we were making plans which have to be confirmed tonight and we were on the subject of she and her new hubby and Jeff and his girlfriend Julie, and the kids and it came to me, this is all too civil for me, holly smolly, is that the way it's done..know it was with my mom and dad and both ended up re-married, I was just married, loved both Flo and Jim, lordy, mom and Jim have been together now 45 years...so there was no animosity with any of us, guess because we weren't little and living with them...

Life sure has changed

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Ultrasound was fast-the baby is in the 80th % for size-he should weigh about 4lbs and he weighs 5.5lbs and his head is already down!!! I will have another in 4 weeks and if he is 7.5-8lbs we will talk about inducing or c-section. The Dr. said once a baby gets to be a certain size and depending on the size of the mom's pelvic area, it can cause nerve damage between the head and shoulder or the baby just won't come down the canal-ie. c-section. That would be my last option in my opinion as I have no desire to be sliced open and have to recover from that if I can help it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like he is going to be nice and healthy!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey, glad you and baby are healthy! nope, wouldn't want to be sliced open either..but in some cases it's to the benefit of the baby!

Was just at the quilt and knitting store, have any of you ever purchased Estelle Frill Seeker for scarves..it's a product that spreads out into a fan and in several colors..done quite differently...

Guess I'll be including scarves in my christmas boxes..not many though at $15.98 per skein BUT only takes 1 skein

HI,
Oh Betty! LOL, never thought I'd see uh such disseray in your house...LUVINIT! hehehe.

Anyway omg...I so forgot about a baby shower being this weekend!! Wellll, then I didn't think we'ld be here so thought I had a few more days, NOT. So i have been sewing up a storm since yesterday!

Doing a baby blanket, prequitled! Oh my gosh decided on ruffling the trim...Whew that is a lot of work! But it is all done, now to figure out how to attach....Then i am am making hearts to go on two of the edges...snafu, snafu I don't have the right color! Running tomorrow for material tomorrow...LOL, not too behind hmmmm.

Yay Crissy anxious to hear how interview went, I am hoping good, good news!

Mary, Big hugs back(((((((((( Mary))))))))) Hang in there, Was glad we chatted!

Barb, my goodness i had no idea! I am so glad you have such a wonderful attitiude! I think that's what keeps you going. I hope and pray you continue as best as is allowed. So glad you had such a great weekend.

OMG, Stacey...You bet i've seen Drop Dread Diva!! I was so Shocked, couldn't react right away!...How upsetting to now have to wait until next summer, boohoo on that. I so hope he makes it... LOL have it on DVD so will watch it again.

Johnathan sounds like he is doing well, so glad...Also it was nice to see you received need items.

I know i am missing so much right now, So Sorry, but I am seriously in crunch time, I have until Sunday 4 pm to finish...UH lol I am making a matching pillow to go with blanket, from scratch...

Linday Kay, Did I mention what cutie Xavier is? He is just adorable, so glad he and mom is doing well, Are they home now?

Waiving Hi Bev, Tubby...Dianne, Wonderhug...

OH Gosh, got go watch the grill! Yikes.

See you in a bit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

No more mess Judy, lol, managed to find a place to store them all, once they are wrapped in Christmas wrap and next to a tree it won't be so bad, and NO, no tree until late November. promise...

Your blanket sounds wonderful Judy, who would have thought you'd take to sewing as you have..it will be cherished I'm sure!!!

Was on www.ch131.com and watched Drop Dead Gorgeous..omg thought for sure they'd get together and look what happened...you say it won't be back until next summer???? how come???? love the show!

Always forget to listen to telephone messages, passed the telephone and saw it blinking..lol..the windows are in so have to see if Greg or Bernie can pick them up for me. Am hoping Bernie will because they have panels made with screening that they will sell to me quite cheap and are enough to close in back deck..I will buy them but not sure they'll do what I want them to do, need an expert..bad weekend though to try and get someone to take the road, traffic always horrendous..might be a good idea to have them keep them in their storage for another week...

Jeff called, he made me tired with his yamining, he's been working long hours seing as he has another program coming out on the market at the end of the month, he decided though to take this weekend off as he's invited to Julie's cottage for golf so asked if I'd mind if he took the boys with him as there will be other children joining in...didn't have the heart to say 'no' but I'll miss not having them..he did say though depending on their schedule that he might drive up Sunday aft. and spend Monday with me so not a complete wash/out..

He asked me what I was doing so told him I was cleaning the back bedroom closet for a boarder, took him about a second to say 'won't ask why you have to have a border in the closet but guess it's up to you'..he thought I was wallpapering!!!

Well, it's the 2nd wash and dry for the rag quilt I just finished for Lisa's little one , have about 10 minutes left to keep checking lint in the dryer then it's bedtime for me...

It's pouring rain outside, hoping that it gets it over with all night and it's a sunshine day tomorrow!

Susan, you all packed for your trip? Sure hope weather co-operates so that you and the 2 - Bob's can enjoy..will you also be fishing??

Well, dryer just beeped, bedtime..
Gab tomorrow...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness Betty, did you hurry and build a storage shed for all those goodies?

Judy, Momma and Xavier went home 2 days after delivery, guess they kick you out of the hospital pretty quickly now! They are doing fine.

Betty, how is the new roomate doing? Has she moved in yet?

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

The Night Shift is here! Boy - I have NOT been myself the last few days. I know I am lucky to be healthy as I am...but that's about as sick as I've been in a long time... DH said he's never seen me so sick...but I am not going to complain

Stomach Virus came & went and I'm MUCH better now! Stacey & Betty - Agree with both of you ! Just hard to live in the situation...and Betty you are right... "Step's" are very difficult... you just didn't know to warn me 9 years ago... (and I probably wouldn't have listened).

Regarding your DS and his Ex... Well - it's just based on the person I suppose...

DH's ex is crazy and I practically tremble when I know she will be nearby....she causes all kinds of chaos and you never know what to expect. DSD's treat her like a queen (I think they are afraid as well)

My ex is okay... just a bad father to my DS...and I get along with him (and his new wife, whom I adore) just fine. My DS despises him although I have NEVER said a bad word about him. (to DS).

Then there is an old family friend (a guy) who has been really involved in DS's life and now has a wife and 2 kids. WE ALL Love each other and spend every Mardi Gras together, remember bdays... etc. Girls babysit for his kids, DS works with him sometimes... So I suppose it just depends on civility.

That scarf is SO pretty and fluffy! I'm so excited about your weekend...may have to 'google' Canada Wonderland ! Oops ! brb !!!

Baton Rouge, LA

LK - That's amazing.. you'd think they'd figure out a way to keep them longer !

Judy - Glad to see you're getting your Shower gifts done! Know you were worried about them... What a special new mom to get hand made items... I know they will be very treasured !

Barb - I hope I get to visit Boston one day.. I would love the old cobblestones as well. Please keep us posted on Earl... Didn't sound good from what I've heard...

Betty - ROFLOL! Your new "Closet Border". Wow - the jokes we can make.... So I suppose in Jeff's case... your Boarder has Not come out of the closet yet? will he disapprove? I can't wait to be the rebellious Mom with DS trying to hold me back LOL!

Agree with LK etc... can't wait to find out more about her... she sounds very shy & sweet though we know ... if anyone can draw her out B&B can.... :) I think this will be Great for both of you !!

Hugs to all and back in a bit..

Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

OMG Mary, what kind of virus did you have that you were so ill? You couldn't possibly have gone to work? Take it easy, with the weekend coming put your feet up and get some strength back...

As for the young lady, she arrives either Sunday or Monday, getting cold feet, me who lives alone, does what she wants I'm thinking how will I deal with another in the house in the evenings...just a change (and you know old gals don't do well with change) lol..her room is now ready, omg, don't think I've ever had an empty closet .. shhh don't tell, don't usually have dust bunnies under my bed, nice and clean but don't look now, any box that could fit went under the bed...yikes, what's becoming of me.. Jeff was ok with having her stay, he and I are much the same, it's Greg who is grounded and not much for change!

Laughed Mary about my going out and build a shed for the storage, could have used that flower shed had I not left spaces between the boards for antique look..lol

You all had a terrific idea for the back door birdhouse project, going to look for beads, white or color?

LindaKay, hospitals here have you out in 24 hrs. probably not the case though with a 'c' section. Glad both are doing well..wonder if she has another what route she'll take, home birth or hospital..

Barb, think it was out of Cape Cod that we took a ferry, was it Martha's Vineyard? no perhaps another island..remember there were no vehicles allowed and as you arrived at the pier the entire town was coblestone..was 2 hrs. at least to get there..have to check map when I get to work.

Time to get ready, nice knowing it's for 4 hrs. only today..quick trip to town on my way home..with the boys not coming Saturday think I'll call a few girls and go to Meaford for the morning..get out and enjoy this last long weekend...

Gab later
