What are you working on??

South Hamilton, MA

He thinks that he got them all replanted, some were very small. the turkeys were after acorns, although there are plenty of oak trees in the woods. The flocks get together this time of year. If the predicted rain turns up today the little plants will have water & pesky birds will stay home.

Thomaston, CT

Turkeys made a mess of my yard last year....they scratched up grass & pine needles!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Time for Thanksgiving lol

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

finished the clean up yesterday after another full day in the yard - ru should have been today! will only have to cut the lawn later this week.

Thomaston, CT

My lawn hasn't been cut in 2 weeks....still is short.....

South Hamilton, MA

cut the lawn; attract the turkeys. When is turkey season in CT.?

Thomaston, CT

To hunt? I believe it starts in Oct., but I'm not sure.....my son only hunts ducks....and I belong to Audubon!

South Hamilton, MA

We belong to Mass audubon, but when any animal gets too numerous, it strains the environment. Look at the over population of deer.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Working on doing nothing, gaining my weight back and baking. Between doing nothing for a week and baking....i've have managed to gain 3 lbs :)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Right now deer is not the problem here, coyotes are.

South Hamilton, MA

both here if you have small pets, although not as bad as south of Boston where they are getting in the urban areas.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Pixie!!!!! I am so jealous. My DD and I are on WeightWatchers for the past 2 weeks. I am starving.
The biggest problem here are deer.Turkys might become in the future. I live in a 20 year old development built in farm country.I have seen turkys in fields when going to garden stores.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Don't be jealous Ge, you'd look funny weighing 116lbs! The morning after the wedding...last Monday, I weighed 113.4 Today, one week later, I weigh 117 ^_^

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

well us chubby people are jealous!!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

JoAnn you shouldn't be starving yourself that actually makes you gain weight. I TOTALLY recommend metabolic typing....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I use the hunt and peck typing method.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Exercise is the single best thing. Start walking, Jo!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just in today's headlines:

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

after walking all these puppies I should be a genius

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

^_^ Must be ruff.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it is kind of fun... they are just silly and don't know what anything is... scared of somethings that make me laugh... and just wanting to see and smell everything is fun to watch.. if they decide to bark at people or other dogs.. I just crack up

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

har har Victor.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am doing OK on WW. I am just not used to the periods of no satiety before the next meal or snack.
I do walk and bought myself a pair of Nordic walking poles. Mostly so I dont fall over. The best reward is controled blood sugar which gives me more energy.
Thanks everyone for advise ,

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the hunger usually goes away after a couple of weeks... tummy will shrink up and you will feel full faster... hang in there JoAnn

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Just keeping ahead of the holiday load-on.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I've been trying to map out the route we will travel home from the R.U.
Brian and I are going to try seeing a few waterfalls and covered bridges in New Hampshire, will be spending the night in Gorham N.H.
Also been packing up seeds for the R.U., rain again today so no digging, will have to be tomorrow or thursday.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

so you will HAVE to see the only covered bridge in MA as well - it is in Pepperell so your drive should be reasonable :)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Great!! Didn't look in Mass. ....How far from your house?

Thomaston, CT

Pretty covered bridge in western CT in Cornwall.....yes, Alison, I should be a genius also walking the dogs every day....but usually I'm just watching where I put my feet because of the snakes! Hang in there, JoAnn.....you've lost weight last year....

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

It IS a annual event, always the same few pounds. If I let things go I will never be able to bend over to plant or weed.
Yipes snakes Marilyn!!!!!

Thomaston, CT

I know....it's only one big black one, but he lives on that trail......

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

O K then
Dont read the articles about the increase in exotic pets released by shops and owners when they get too big.
The problem in Florida is creeping north. lol
You might meet an Anaconda one of these days lol
I am startled when I come across small garden snakes. Creepy.

Thomaston, CT

I'm not a snake person....I admire them for keeping rodents down, I just don't want close, personal encounters with them.....I know they live in my rock walls, I see their shed skins....that's enough for me!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I just saw a show last week on FL's snake problem. Surprisingly, it's not due primarily to released pets. Instead, it's because of Hurricane Andrew hitting a python 'warehouse' right on the edge of the Everglades, releasing thousands of small ones.

Thomaston, CT

The only thing I saw in the Everglades (other than really great birds) was an overabundance of alligators....they were everywhere, stacked side by side like cordwood....only longer, larger, & more threatening......I did see quite a few cottonmouths on a guided trip through Lake Dora, but that's close to the Villages......

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My aunt lived for years in Mt. Dora. I like that area of FL, compared to the south.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I hate snakes....don't care how good they keep rodents down!

Thomaston, CT

Mt. Dora is a lovely little town....reminds me of New England.....
