Yes, it reminded me of the north. Nice variety of trees, etc.
What are you working on??
The exotic pet problem includes other animals and birds, not just snakes.
To say nothing of the 4ft allegator captured from the charles river this past week. With all the true domestic animals needing homes, the exotic ones are useless.
saw a crazy snake catcher in fl get a 9 ft. king cobra - nice to know they are around!
celeste it is very close - and could be on your route out saturday if your heading towards route 3 and not 495 - either way very close.
I was only referring to the snake problem in FL. It had been assumed that it was caused by released pets.
Keep your "pocket book "dogs inside.
Never mind the dogs! I'd stay in as well.....
Hey Celeste, we've seen lots of moose just north of Gorham up to Errol, great area!
Thanks Deb, good to know!!
that's too bad joann
Sorry to hear that Ge.... looking at it in the picture I could invision one of those gazing balls on top. Maybe ones you can make yourself out of an old bowling ball, would be a good winter project. I have been keeping my eye out for old BBalls....someone told me to look at a Goodwill Shop. This is what i've been eyeing for a pattern idea. :)

BALLS? !!!!!!!!!.
maybe. Balls is a loaded subject.
Hee hee hee...especially in the long cold winter months. ^_^
I am slowly forming an idea for something made of PVC pipe and Sheet foam.
Oh, JoAnn......sorry about the sculpture! Did you have high winds? Pixie, I like that gazing ball....couldn't picture a bowling ball in the garden, but now I can......
Ge1836, Heart breaker. So sad. Patti
Sorry JoAnn.
JoAnn if you want to get really funky... spray foam (insulation) is water proof.. and can be spray painted
Thanks everyone. I was thinking of foam board,it can be cut and controled and shaved with a woodrasp. Its really early to come up with anything concrete yet. I cant decide between a bird or plant shape.
Hi Patti...glad to hear from you!
Thanks Robindog. I am planting iris and clematis and thinking about the planting phase of our now almost finished rebuilt timber walls, long last. I am just about to finish an article on putting the garden to bed for the newspaper, so I should get busy and heed my advice. Long list of things to do.
schickenlady, Windows were not on my list today, or ever. Hate that job. Patti
Good to see you're up and around, Patti.
Try putting a safety cover on a 20 X 40 pool, Sherrie!
DH and I are planning to attack weeds again tomorrow.
DH did so here today. Paperwork finished, except for next project so can work outside tomarrow.
I thought I'd pop in and say hi. "Hi!"
With my recent back diagnosis, there's no bending over for me until after I get some PT. So I used that as an excuse to get the backyard mulched (to kill the grass and make it easier for next year). We planted a little more after these photos, but there are some before and after here:

and yes, I spelled evie wrong in the URL when I was setting up Flickr. ha!
I hope everyone is doing well! ::waves::
very nice - lots of snakes!
Hey Evie!!!!
1 too many snakes for me!!!
Hi Eve! If you don't mind my asking, what's the diagnosis?? I have had back problems for years.
Nice photos, Evie.....the snakes look very tame!
my next project - at least in the spring is to get rid of the grass in front of the shade garden and fill it will a couple more jm's and the 18 hosta i just received. not sure how far our i will come yet.
Bill, dont forget the lazagna method. Lay cardboard or newspapersplus mulch now and no grass by spring.
My current project isn't even for us. I'm replacing an old doorway at my dad's with a window and stuccoed wall. The worst part is I want to be done before Friday morning so we can visit Bok Tower Gardens on the way to Daytona.

I've wanted to go there since Donniebrook (Louise) posted about it . Ric
This will soothe the regrets I have about missing last weekend RU. LOL

i will probably get in there with the rototiller joann after i left the grass - lets me get rid of rock and any surface roots - then i will flip the grass over and cover with more dirt. works good for me and not too much grass comes back easy to weed it out.
That sounds like a great plan.I imagend you digging and hauling.
thx - i only skim the first 3" or so to get under the grass roots so not tooo much digging - until i hit roots and rock that is.
Evie that is such a nice job on your garden. Love those before and after shots. Really shows all the effort you put in and the reward of a completed project. Have a few garter snakes here too.
Bill I am sure your extension will be lovely and weed free as usual. All those hosta and JMs will make a really pretty scene. Looking forward to pics.
The doors came and I have placed them in the garden. A little tweaking will need to be done but I think that will wait for next spring when they are returned to the garden. Most activity now is removing logs and shredding branches and saplings that DH has been cutting down.
Here are a couple pics.
