Morning everyone
Dianne, please tell me what Tomato Butter and Oil Pickles are?
Happy Birthday to Stormy. Our Siberian Husky is about the same age.
Betty, Glad you did not get picked for jury duty, but nice to hear they pay for mileage! Here you get paid a whole 3 dollars per day, if you get picked for jury duty!
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends!
And then they tax it as well right???? It is a fascinating experience though...
I have been called for selection several times, but I have not yet had the pleasure to serve, They always settle at the last minute.
I have never been picked for Jury Duty because when they ask you ?? I seem to have too strong of opinions to be "un-biased" enough...
Laura-(((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) to you gal-I spent most of last year in that place, so I know how you are feeling.
Laura - U B Lurking? ^_^
Betty - quite the experience with Jury Duty! Besides paying for your parking and mileage in, do they also pay you for your day?
Well, today I go for my (re) recording of my solo at 1pm LOL Then at 4:30 I go for another music lesson.- Bob & I were asked to do a Duet on Oct 10th (our 12th Anniversary, btw). We'll sing Jeff & Sheri Easter's song -" Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me"
The song's so true - we all have so many troubles, but we should remember our blessings because they are so Many!
We won't sound This Good, but here they are, singing their song:

Susan
Susan, make sure the camera is on this time! :)
hahahaha it all depends on the person who's behind my camera - I'll be In Front of it LOL
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((LAURA))))))))))))))))))))))))))) We have missed you so much! And Betty, Susan, Mary, and everyone else said it so perfectly! You are LOVED here by everyone, just 'hearing' your voice sends a ray of sunshine.
Betty Jury Duty sure is different there than here! In CA it pays $5.00 a day, hopefully I'll never find out what AR pays but I'm sure it's not even close to minimum wage so everyone who gets called and has to do a trial really loses a lot of money. Most of the time defendants take a plea bargain anyway.
Stacey lol, I'm with you, I'm a cops daughter, that says it all!
Happy Birthday Stormy!!!
Susan I can't wait to hear it! A duet with Bob, how exciting!! Maybe you should turn it on so all the other person has to do is push the record button.
Good morning
Whew, what a day yesterday. Started off just as any other Monday, Steve drops kids off at school then continues on his way...
I got a phone call asking if I could meet him at the Mineke, ok...He inched his way there, Turns out there was some fluid line to the breaks that needed replacing. He unloaded his tools into my van, Off we went into the City Drop him off then come back in time to pick up Breenie for lunch, Get Julia Drop her off to College then come back Pick up Breenie drop her at school...While I had the 3 hours, Vacuumed the house, swept the stairs did 3 loads of laundry, cleaned the kitchen from the weekend. (we went to house, kids stayed home) Pick up Breenie from school, fold the laundry and put it away...Figure out my next blocks, cut a few pieces, Pick up Jacob drop him off Then take DH to pick up his van, needless to say i was exhausted from driving all day...Steve went to store, help put away all the groceries, more laundry wash and fold, get next load going...In between try to read the threads, check on e-mail for jobs...Got an e-mail saying that park district 2 have been filled! Well what a drag, never ever got an interview!! Then DH made his famous sandwich steaks, Kids helped him with that, That's when I attempted to post...Got called to kitchen for family conference....After that, it was just too much! Turns out Alissa's parent were at it again!! I just don't understand these people. She needed a place to stay again. Would explain after work. So, I had a few hours to work on a slow burn. All I knew was the parent misplaced a substantial amount of money, accused Alissa, Dad called her to say she was out of house again for stealing!! Had a bag packed waiting for her! Mother sneered at her that she was sure we would take her in...Alissa had no clue what they were talking about, said she didn't take any money, nope they would not listen. Worse, she was at work, had a break down in tears, so not cool, called to ask if she could come.
By the time she came home, I was asleep on the couch. Awoke around 1:30, found her and Anthony talking on the deck, so went out to hear what happened...OMG, The mother later calls Alissa to say how sorry she was, They found the money, she had Forgotten what she did with it!! So Alissa was not kicked out she can return home. This just P's me off the mind games they put on her. I swear they need some serious help! She went home around 2, only because she was afraid the mother would throw it in her face again about being with us. So gave her a big hug...
Well Thank you all for your help with Kitchen, Decided I will stay with my yellow and Blue...undecided on the brown or what, but still have time, lol...
Linda Kaye, Thought of you over the weekend! Went to my favorite little quilting place. Found a very pretty Sunflower material...i am sending you a fat quater, if you like it i can get more next time...9/10 weekend!
Awe, Happy Birthday Stormy...Dianne enjoy cake and a nice walk! Ohhh my Home made Chilli! I'm coming over. Tomato butter, hmmm sounds interest, would love to hear how that is made. Yikes, don't over do it in the heat.
Betty, you had quite the day, how cool you ran into several you know...All the visiting must have helped the time away. Yep quite the experience...Glad my time was served, hope i don't get called for another 10 years, lol.
Wow, How neat that you will have a roomie! LOL, was giggling when someone said hope she doesn't expect you to cook. But whow, maybe she will cook for you, hehehe.
Susan! How cool you and DH are making a record. I hope it all goes very well. Be sure to have some one taking photos.
Oh My, thanks for the heads up on the Diet thing...I know know a lot of people who drink Diet pop, so will forward the warning to them!
Stacey, sounds like your baby shower was nice...
Crissy?? Where are you? Are you feeling any better? i sure hope so.
Waiving Hi Wonderhug! Hope you day/night is going well...pop back in were here.
Debbie, isn't it just great about all the vehicles! Yikes, Julia was driving my van on the weekend, well some one backed into her! Now i have a marvelous dent in my back door! Got to call it into insurance and police...Thought it was a hit and run, the guy didn't give her his name, just insurance and plate #...She didn't know to get more info than that. But now his wife has called about it with more info, so have to clear all that up...Never ending , sigh.
Mary, Awe, Belle is a wonderful name for Pup!!
Well, i have to go get at my project, see you later, have a great day.
Oh Judy, sending you big armwraps your way! Goodness, you have been through so much, hubby kids, adopted kids...
Thanks for the fat quarter. That is all I need, I can probably get 2 squares from it! I will get you money out tomorrow!
Sure hope that MOM gave her big hugs, and said I am sorry!
Judy - 1. The Diet Pop thing apparently was a hoax...... but it sure wouldn't hurt to quit drinking the "artificial" stuff. if I'm going to gain weight, I want to do it "for REAL" LOL
2. - Yikers about Alissa - poor kid!!! Mind Games, indeed!
3. - Can I have some of your energy while looking for a job? This is my 2nd week, and it's AWFUL.... no one's even calling me for an interview. siiiiiiiiigh..........
4. Bob & I aren't making a record. The church just asked if we'd do a duet for one of the services. Not all that big a deal to anyone but us and the church.
Mary - Love the name, Belle!!!!
btw - we've had a lot of construction near a Super Mall we have near here (not so super, but it has a HUGE Bass Pro shop!!). They're putting in a Lowe's!!!!!! We've never had one here, so I gather it's going to be a Big one! Looking forward to it. Not sure when it will be done, though.
Tonight my DH and I will be going to the local Army & Navy Store to pickup some life jackets. We bought a small inflatable boat (with oars) to take with us this weekend, and almost forgot life jackets!! Yikers! lol
Wonder...lots of hugs and prayers and good thoughts coming your way. I have dealt with depression for a few years, and it isn't easy. TRY and find one "rainbow" every day....it could be a flower, a bird singing, a phone call....finding your keys! At the end of the day I like to say "Thank you God for my rainbow today...it was the hummingbird in my tree" I have lived her 20 years and NEVER had a hummer in my yard! I even got a picture of it.
NEWS Flash....
We need to changes it from Betty's Bed and Breakfast to
BETTYS BREAD FOR BREAKFAST! Yep, that covers the no cooking issue! lol Sorry Betty, you know I love you.....lol
Judy, your day sounded like mine, we could have been passing each other. Did you get the kids college books yet? OMG! She had over $600 for 5 books.....and THREE of them were used! We were ticked also to find, she sold one of her books back last year...it was a $170 book...they have her $25 for it....and now are reselling it...for $110 used! What a racket!
Stormy and Dianne....here it is.....your birthday wishes...
From Izzy...who had to pose for a bit for desired look!
Debbie
Oh Izzy we love you so and Auntie Debbie for posting your picture.
Debbie and Judy you both deserve a medal....... all that driving about and a DH and kids to cope with.... I don't envy your day one bit.
Stormy 'chose' Blueberry Sour Cream Pound Cake with Chocolate Brownie Ice Cream' for his BD cake. Somehow I think my DH had a hand in that choice!
I'll post the recipes for Tomato Butter - it is like a jam and great with eggs, on fingers too and the Oil Pickle Recipe later. They are both recipes from this area way back in the early 1800's.
Susan glad you remembered lifejackets. My DH and I were out for a leisurely cruise one Sunday afternoon, Dh was fishing and I was reading when lo and behold we were stopped by the local OPP Marine Unit. Man they checked our boat but good, while they were doing it I kept asking myself did we put the lifejackets back in when we brought the boat out of winter storage.I was sweating bullets - but we had remembered.
Off to sterilize some pickling jars. Enjoy the heat everyone!
Dianne
Finally have some time on my hands, take a day off and you get to play catch up..where oh where will I start..love reading all your posts.
Scrolling upwards to start posting, has it only been yesterday and today I've missed out on, lordy, you all were gabbers..
Debbie a sign will be made shortly with 'Betty's Bread for Breakfast"..lol..first clue about my cooking ability; who knows, this young lady, can't believe I don't know her name or can't remember it...might know how to cook and it will be like having Roger doing my cooking..I'll clean and she can cook!!
Last sign I had said "I kiss better than I cook!" wasn't that the truth..could only go by what DH said!!! lol
Debbie, did you get the vehicles up and running? think I'll take mom to Buffalo on the 20th....mark your calendar for the 21st, early a.m. CrackerBarrel breakfast..I'll bring some goodies for you! Unless of course she's feeling poorly, she did call me this morning and said she still has blood cloth so not sure what the next step is.
Also Debbie, I am a true believer that you have to look for 'sunshine and rainbows' in your day and enjoy them however small they may be..before you know it you'll be seeing many!!! They are indeed there just to make you smile...love hummers..you've never had any? do you put out a feeder? send you some...
So glad my children are out of school, omg that's a horrible amount of money you have to spend..they should make them so that they can be downloaded just as your books are..don't know who I was speaking to the other day regarding purchasing on at Barnes and Nobles and they were saying they would wait awhile, apparently there is a court case and they said you might no longer be able to get books, have you heard anything about this?
Dianne, great choice in cakes..hope you saved us some! Guess you are having much the same weather as we are, although it's only 84 it feels like 110 with humidity. Did you get the cake at Dairy Queen?
OPP will be out this weekend in full force, last long weekend of the summer, before taking the boat out you almost have to do a checklist..after my getting my boat permit I've not been in the boat..who knows, this weekend might be a Georgian Bay travel to Sans Souci for all you can eat pickeral...usually do it at least once or twice a summer,so far we've not gone..Tomato Butter recipe sounds wonderful..looking forward to the recipe..
Speaking of recipe's, Ann on Sunday asked if I could make a wood recipe booklet, then we could design a cover for it and paint it, we could include family recipe's..might be a nice gift for the kids to include their great-grandfather's, grandfather and father's recipe collection..have to add, won't be many from me..after typing this I see that the men are in the past generations were the cooks...
Susan, no, no payment for the day just the mileage. You'll soon be on your way for recording your solo..best of luck..omg you are starting to sing 'on tour' we'll soon be able to say, 'we knew her when!'
I asked Kyle Susan about the inflatable boat, he's a big boy, said he loves it, more for 1 than 2 people he said...yep, glad you remembered the life jackets or you'd not be going out in it..he also said it took quite some time to inflate even with a compressor so no thinking of blowing it up with your own air as you would a baloon..
Judy, what horrible people they are, shouldn't be parents, they've been playing mind games with her for years..thank goodness she has you and your family, what a great guy Steve is for not objecting to taking her in..my heart breaks when I read such things.
I read your entire post twice, was tired after the 1st reading so you can well imagine how tired I am after reading it the 2nd time..holly schmolly did you even get a 'pee' break?
Any news Stacey on the birthing 'date'?
Mary, going to check the site out..you are right, great Christmas gift.
A/C isn't working well in here today, guess it's just too hot outside to keep up, sure home mine at home is doing it's thing.
Meant to tell you about another gardening project I've come up with..slap me silly...don't know if I mentioned I had picked up a metal bed (rather had Bernie go pick it up along the roadside) anyway the headboard is exactly the width to attach to 2 trees at the very back of the yard..although you'd never know it the back tree area is about 5' deep, ravine..not much going on there except old trees laying down, only water in the spring so my thoughts were to cement the headboard so it would be stable, if you walked to that area you could look down into the ravine so I'd need something down there..yesterday I stopped at a reno place and they had a white metal door, no window in it and it was chapt $10.00 so I bought it..put it against the tree in the ravine, now what? so with all the birdhouses painted white, I decided that if I went to Home Depot and bought 2 'L' shaped brackets I could screw them midway on the open window, get a shelf painted white then attach the birdhouses..it would be bright for now but if I were to put some ivy or the such to hide it a bit..
Laura and friends in need,
Today, set your heart and mind on His goodness. Believe that He is ready to take you places that you've never dreamed. Receive His promises because He is faithful. If God said it, He will do it! Get ready because He is pouring out His blessing on every area of your life!
Father God, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness. Thank You for the power in Your Word to change my world. I choose to get into agreement with You and declare that Your will be done in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen
hoooooooo BOY!
I went to the church, did not prepare my voice for singing, and even got angry at someone (neither of which are conducive to singing well......) but, I got it recorded, regardless....
I'm uploading it to YouTube, with a privacy setting. Only those who have my email can view it. You don't have to have an account. It will take over 40 more minutes to upload, so don't try to see it yet LOL
I'm not happy with it, but it's alright. I have done better...... ah well, it is what it is, right?!?!
I have to leave before it's finished the uploading, so I'll see to it once I get back.
I have voice lessons, then Bob & I are going to buy life jackets......
Oh Susan, I'm sure it's fine. It never sounds good to the person doing it anyway.
I'll see y'all tomorrow sometime, but I'm slammed with work so I'm going to dig in while I'm fresh in the morning.
I feel like a weight has been taken off my shoulders. Chris's niece Sara bought us some things we needed from the registry. She got us the swing, the shopping cart cover, 3 sets of bibs and the stroller/car seat!! So 2 of the expensive items we needed!! I spent about 10 minutes in a holy crap moment before I recovered!!LOL Now instead of the stroller that I was going to get this week, I can get the dresser and with the money from Grandpa from the shower I can get the breast pump-that is all 4 of the $100+ items, so that takes a huge amount of stress from me!! Sorry-had to share my excitement!!
Stacy, check with your hospital...mine gave me a manual breast pump, and was very nice...and handy. They had a "la-lache" league for breast feeding Moms that also loaned them out or raised money to give them to moms.
How exciting it is for you Stacey..omg you are almost there..bet you were doing the 'happy dance'..some of the things can be purchased a little later can they not? maybe after the baby is born those who didn't get to the shower might pick them up..oh happy days....can feel your excitement!Crissy, they must have given you a lot more work with that office, what? did you take on the other girls entire workload..how are you feeling? mom doing better..got to go to her prayers thread and check...Laura, sending hugs and prayers your way..tell us what piece of sunshine entered your life today..am sure there was something?Susan, will check for the link once I get t.v. bingo over with..just feel lucky..hmmm perhaps tonight that jackpot will be mine..Well, got myself into some mischief..yikes Greg sure did lecture me.....NOT that I take it to heart...lolHe and Noah dropped in, where was I on this hot/muggy day that they have heat warnings out, of course in the swamp, moving trees, drilling holes in the door that I got yesterday, let's out a 'don't do that' and tells me the door must be worth at least 150. told him I got it for $10. and I'm going to drill holes for the metal shelf holders so I can screw the birdhouses to a piece of shelving ( which I had just painted white) and set on the shelf on the holders, then I'd work up some of the ground and plant some of the large yellow daisies I have until vine covers it up and makes it almost invisible..he was shaking his head, wanted to know if I was looking to have a stroke, so he got down into the gully with me and moved some big dead trunks of wood for me all the while saying, 'you just couldn't wait till it gets cooler tonight to do this?' nope..t.v. bingo then it's dark..told him to leave the tree trunks but he said he just knew if he didn't move them I'd move them...then he looks around and with a sigh says 'isn't it bad enough you've decorated the entire yard now you are decorating a swamp, come on now!' I'm sure he'll be calling his brother to let him know 'mom has lost it!' hope that when they commit me they'll let you all know where I am..would love letters and phone calls..lolSo then we walk over to where the flower shed is, he admits it's cutesy and says he'll come over and cut the branches off the tree that are hanging down and will eventually almost hide it...hey NO..want the branches hidding it..as he's walking away mumbling something, one of the large tree has vines falling nicely, nice touch..lol..grabs them and going to pull them down..I belt out 'holly cow, leave my things alone'...so laughing..Noah says 'grandma likes it like that dad, don't wreck them...' (great kid, understands creativity) So we walk to his truck and we talk about the young lady that will be staying with me, he can't for the life figure out why I have to have someone stay with me..don't I make enough 'make work projects' that I have to take on more...I let him gab, so thought I'd really get him going, mentioned the camper I want to purchase and lo and behold he's excited, thinks with all the travelling I do, as long as I don't set it up in middle of nowhere, that I'd have fun with it...hurrah..he left with a 'go into the house and get some juice and RELAX!!!!'Think I might have to go gather my tools, with all this humidity not likely the shelf will dry quickly..will finish the project tomorrow night...
So that's my evening so far..must go get something to eat, get that red dabber out..wish me luck!
Great idea Debbie! How's the heat in your neck of the woods? Is it a long weekend your side of the border?
Maybe dangle some strung beads from the top of the hole where the glass should be?? I think that would be pretty.
Debbie-they do rent them here, but to be honest that kinda yucks me totally out. To me it is the same as used undies-no way jose;)
Betty-that does take care of a lot of it, but still need burp cloths, crib sheets and mattress covers, changing pad covers and monitor B4 the baby gets here-not as much as was on my list a few days ago though:)
Barb, got your material today..love the greens, perfect for the trees I need in the quilt..you are a sweetie..thanks, it's much appreciated!
Tubby, hospital day was yesterday, any news?
Bev, how are you and Scotty doing, gaining strength? Have you been for therapy this week?
needed 0-66 for the $2,600....called 3 numbers after I need it but no go..adrenaline was pumping though..lol
well everyone, I'm zonked, time for bed..
Waving a goodnight to all, hope I didn't miss anyone in my posts today..was a busy day with catching up on yesterday's work...
night/night
Hello To All !
Happy Birthday Stormy ! Sounds like a great Bday with a Yummy Cake... :) Izzy is so smart...he posted his best wishes as well ! Belle says Happy Birthday but she is yet too young to understand...
I sure enough made a note of her "found" date so we can celebrate next year... NOT ANOTHER August Birthday !
Judy Judy - Poor Alissa ! We had a situation in the household yesterday... I was going to dmail you...but there is no solution... so I suppose it would just be to 'vent'....
Good thing Alissa has you guys...
Life Jackets... yes had the same thing happen ...you clean out everything year to year and think you put it back but when pulled over not sure...
Susan - I believe you will LOVE the Bass Pro AND the Lowes... the Bass Pro should have a LOT of stuff for camping. It's such a tourist trap though....you have to watch the prices...but really a neat store and stuff. I wonder if yours will have a yucky restaurant as well...nice atmosphere...but the food wasn't the greatest...
Betty - love the story of the branches... one mans trash is another mans treasure. Trust Noah to understand. Remember if you ever need mardi gras beads just to give me a yell.... be nice to clean out the attic.... I brought some to a dismeet at Disneyworld and the attendee's (some from as far as UK and Australia) thought they were the greatest ! And folks throw them away here !
Judy & Deb & those who understand the 'challenges' of teens. Tough night tonight. My stomach is in knots at how they treat DH. They being DSD17 and DSD16.
I am totally "out of it" now... I can't even bring myself to deal with it. And they disrespect me as well. Lord give me strength to be pleasant and show respect even where I am not shown it that they may look back and realize ZZZZTTTT never mind... that will never happen. It's not their fault... they have learned this behavior from their Bio-Mom.
Hugs to all,
Mary
LK - Thank you for the pic of Xavier ! Does she plan to have another? (I'm sure not discussing at this point !)
Mary - I've been to the Bass Pro, and it's terrific!! wow - waterfalls all over the place, a HUGE tank with game fish swimming around, and loads of taxidermy all over the place!
Bass Pro has been in Calgary for 1 year.
Lowe's is the new, upcoming store that I've never been in - not even when I was in the US, visiting. We have a Home Depot, and that's our big-box store for home improvement, etc.
Betty - I have posted the solo, but geeeeeeze - the singing "Hurts" my ears! To me, I sound gawd-awful! Ah well, I'm not fishing for compliments, so those that I have emails for, I will send the link, but I'm NOT posting it for general viewing.... sorry if that offends, but I'm really not happy with my singing........
Susan
Taters, He is ADORABLE....sure worth the wait!!!! glad he and Momma are well....
Betty, I think the beads would be great!!! hanging like folks used to put across doorways!!!
Betty - I agree - string beads from top of hole to the bottom of it, like was done in the 60's in doorways!
Thought I'd move us over...
No time to chat this morning but I'll have all day once I get to work..lol...
Come join me, bring the sunshine, bring the woes, always easier when shared with friends..
