Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends!

Ah Susan, how disappointed you must be, you were so looking forward to having a recording to send to your mom..nice of the keyboardist to help you do a recording..
Although you were nervous you didn't freeze..and a lunch outing as well, you are getting spoilt girl! Before you know it you'll be asked out to various churches to perform...oh, we might be telling everyone we know a 'star'

Trying to decide here if I'll go back out and try this painting thing again or put away the paint and call it a day..always another day, not like I need birdhouses 'today'!

Got to read the instructions for court tomorrow, wouldn't want to screw that up.

Came in to feed the kitties, last birdhouse to paint, decided to get at it and get it done and I'll take a quick run into town, few things I need then an early night..judge might be goodlooking so need to spiff myself up..

Hello To All !

Rats! Betty - I had a pet rat as a child... so got DS one back when he was 7or 8. I read that they are actually intelligent pets... we enjoyed them... but they did not live long...so 5 years is a long time. (remember MIchael Jackson's "Ben" ?)

Yes Betty - we took Belle for a walk tonight. WIsh there were an icecream shoppe we could walk to... not even a snowball stand. But we enjoyed our walk.

Betty - Thats Great! I hope she turns out to be a Great Gal ! I've had some 'bad' roommates but she sounds very nice... Plus if you start working from home... might be nice to have some company. Maybe she cooks ! :) Plus that's $300 more for your Projects... (OR towards the RV Rental LOL).

YES - we've been watching Katrina shows... I didn't see that particular one... but they are sure all over the TV today. Brings back SO many memories. We had been in this home for 2 years and had just agreed to sell my First home... so We had 8 Evacuee's between the 2. They were very lucky that we had an empty home for them to use. Most could not even get hotel rooms. Of course they were very appreciative as well. We stay in touch.

DH and I went to Bass Pro today (he wanted a meat gun for the Dehydrator... LOL) and we ate at the restaurant there. Beautiful and touristy....but I will DEF not be bringing Betty and the gang there... the food & service were horrible !

Betty - I can't wait to see what you come up with the dehydrator. An old Boyfriend had picked flowers on a walk with me at a State Park... (YEARS back) and dried them and used as the centerpiece of a stained glass window hanging. It was beautiful (I"m sure I still have it) but I can't hang it.... in case DH (aka... "The Beast") asks where it came from. It sounds like something you would create.

I'll check back in a Bit....

Crissy you tell your DH from me he is a very young looking 49.lol My DH is 69 and looks way younger - why does this not happen to women?
Oh Betty you have such a big heart. You are probably a lifesaver for that young gal and her parents. I had a girl work with me while she was in HS. After graduating she applied and was accepted at Sheridan in Toronto. I kept saying have you found a place and she said no..... her parents took her up Labour Day weekend to find a place. I was just stunned and fortunately it worked out well for her BUT TO is a pretty big city for a niave(sp?) country girl.Course this was the girl who got a bank loan for tuition and when my DH asked her what the interest was on the loan she replied "What's interest?"
Went to my dentist apptment on Thursday and when Doc touch my back molar with his mirror my tooth just exploded. So after 2 hours of root canal Doc sent me home as my tooth had already had too much trauma for the day. Never did work on the tooth I went in for to begin with. The radiation I had this winter has done a real number on my teeth and their roots. Went into Doc's with no toothache and came out with a huge one.See him again Sept.9.
Stacey do you still need alot of 'stuff' for the baby?
Aw Mary puppy now has a name. Belle is a very sweet name!
Need to go clean up the kitchen, I noticed the good fairy did not come again tonight. Ugh!!

You're a doll to be so considerate of me, but it's really nothing! I would feel badly if Kay were to find out, so we're playing "secret agent" and slipping in after she finishes her day as church secretary, so she doesn't find out that we're re-taping the solo.
My darling voice coach said after I've been singing for awhile, maybe I could teach students LOL she was joking, obviously hahahaha
My DH is going to take voice lessons from her, too. She's an adorable person, and you just want to help her in any way. She's lived in Calgary (Canada) for 3 years - originally from Japan, and finds Calgary Very Cold in the winter! I hope it warms up for her this year. It was colder last year than it usually is.

Morning all..

Up and at it, have to leave for Court at 7:15a.m. as parking is limited and I must be registered prior to 8:30..only half read the forms, when Susan called I went through it and I already have a jury number..what's with that??? also said I must be prepared to stay for a week, hmmm do they mean I bring clothing, highly doubtful, am sure it means each day I have to go, my first thought, could I bring a book, could I bring something to do i.e. crochet..maybe I should, they might say, 'not this old gal, her attention span isn't long' if nothing else it will be an experience!!!

Debbie, so laughing here, frisked, omg those young border custom agents were I'm sure just shaking their heads at me being so excited about being checked over..lol..after my experience in asking the border patrol for 'fish and chips' for 4 grandsons they must have me on their monitor for being 'unstable'..lol leave it to you to remember that! too cute...

As for the extra dollars I was telling Susan last night that last week I was lonesome for days of old, had an RV and travelled all over, spent most of the winter in Bonita Springs just south of Ft. Myers Florida and with Susan talking camping and the excitement of doing so I wished I had a camper, but a camper means having to have a larger vehicle, went and did some research, there is a small camper, you'd really only use it for sleeping but that would be ok, I often flit here and there, it's all I really would need..anyway, found the cutest mini camper and the one I like can be purchased in Stratford, Ontario..total around 3,500 so my thoughts is to one weekend go and have a look at it, and if it's what I want will purchase it ..the money's I get from my new border will pay 1/2..can't ask for anything more so that's my plan...

I did tell the young lady, I don't do cooking!!! Maybe mom and dad will pack her a weekly lunch. Dianne, some of these youngsters you have to wonder how they'll make out on their own..guess we all did it and for some reason we feel we were more mature, doubtful. This young lady had it all together, took a liking to her, let's hope it stays the same after she moves in.

As for the book, omg you have no idea what it would say, have had lots of high's and lots of low's..something is always happening in my neck of the woods..

Dianne, omg, how horrible..are you in pain? Is there a reason they have to wait so long to work on the tooth? Radiation saves lives but can also result in more health issues right?

Because of my kidney's failing my teeth turned to chalk, was about 21 when I had to have them all removed..

Mary sorry you didn't get ice cream but you did enjoy the walk..Bass Pro, we have one just north of Toronto, I've been in to purchase different things, Kyle wanted a metal detector, then I wanted to purchase an outdoor movement camera for my friend Mike for Christmas and bought some food packets for Jeff for his kayak trip..love looking at all the goodies, now please explain what this meat gun is?

Mary-LOVE the name!! My MIL threw the shower. It was kinda funny-she had planned for 13, 10 showed (including DH and 2 bros), but the woman brought enough food for about 30!!LOL Needless to say we came home with a lot of subs, fruit salad and chips;)

Betty-so nice Ann surprised you with flowers and it is cool that you will have a guest and a little extra income:) You did make sure to warn her that you get up at the crack of dawn and go like the energizer bunny all day before retiring early right??;) have fun at Jury duty (yeah right;)

Susan-I am so glad to hear your solo went off without a hitch-sorry you didn't get a recording, but it is nice that you'll be able to get a supplement one this week:)

Dianne-we still need a lot-the stroller and car seat, dresser, bumper pads, baby monitors, crib sheets and mattress covers, changing pad covers, portable changing pads, bibs, burp cloths, breast pump and milk bags, and that is just the needing stuff (about $750). Doesn't include the "nice to have stuff" like the swaddlers, night light turtle, nature sounds CD and player (white noise helps the baby to sleep since they were surrounded by it in the womb), swing, shopping cart/high chair cover, toy chest, crib mobile, extra bag, pictures for the room or removable piddle pad for the car seat that is washable so you don't get pee stains on it.

It was kinda funny-when I emailed my mom the pics form the shower stuff she flew off the handle about the puppet Chris's brother got us-LOL-she said "with all the stuff you actually need, they buy you some stupid puppet!!" I laughed at her and said well it was cute, but I understood what she was saying. Knowing BIL it wasn't cheap and could have probably gotten bumpers and sheets for the crib instead, but people get you what they want-you can't do anything about it.....

Betty - how can you run a B&B, if one of the B's is missing? (Bed & Breakfast.......) or do you pour her cereal for her? ^_^
Here's hoping they don't sequester you at the courthouse's hotel! We'd miss a whole week without you, doncha know!?!?!

Betty, I think they want you to be prepared to stay THERE for a week, just in case they are sequestered. IF the case goes to vote, and no decision is made by the end of the day....they put you up in a hotel or rooms....so you don't have public contact. At least that is the way it is here. I actually packed a bag and kept in car, just in case. Thankfully it didn't happen.....I was disappointed. lol

LOL - but you wouldn't be able to post here, Debbie, and that would be a tragedy!
Someone would have to look after Betty's pets (Sailor especially!) and house/garden. I guess they'd let her make those arrangements via phone, but what a PAIN!
Ah well, won't "borrow trouble" - what will be, will be. Things will work out for all concerned ^_^

YES, I would miss it here very much...but ohhhh, time off to read...and no kids fighting.

Just this morning, DD's radiator kapootzed....pretty much....this "new car" is a piece of work. DH's radiator needs replace.....yesterday a rotor replaced.....and my "oxygen" sensor on my catalitic convertor is shot. This is just the "minor" stuff right now. ROFL

DD is at doctors getting her thumb checked....DS went with incase of car trouble...not that he can do anything....but she wanted company incase she broke down. Misery loves company! LOL

ah yes - the chance to do stuff with no other requests made on you, just jury stuff. You'd have free time, otherwise.
I've thought of that too - maybe I'd learn to do hand piecing of quilts. There are some people in the quilt shop who do it by hand. It means they don't have uneven edges..... everything matches beautifully! I'd never have the time to do it, though! One lady says she does it on the bus, and anytime she's in a Dr's office, etc.

I do hand piecing at the doctors office....with all of hubby's appointments ...should have a bunch done by now...nope still working on # 1....I think I started it about 6 years ago!!!

of course I don't go to all of his appointments, and some (luckily) go so fast I don't have time to do much stitchin'

Crissy, hope your not having one of "those" Monday's? it will be over soon, then you can go home, and relax. You need to bring a box of tea bags to work with you, then you can just fill your cup with water, nuke it, and enjoy!

Dunno who else got the email re: Diet pop - DON'T drink it anymore, if you are!
It's not good for you - it's the aspartame in it that's a "sweet poison".
It does not help you lose weight, and it's a chemical that is very harmful.

I never drink diet drinks, I use real sugar in my coffee, and I certainly don't use artificial sweeteners in my baking. I feel just fine - how about you?

It sure won't hurt to stop drinking it, and it may save you:

WAVING big time to all, just got in, could have gone to work for a couple of hours but tummy was churning, guess all the excitement..

OMG no wonder we're all in the mess we're in..they had over 100 people attend, was to start at 8:30 so I got there about 8am, didn't realize that there was a parking lot that held about 200 cars and it was empty and FREE, but the sign said something about being removed if/if/if so I thought they meant it was for staff, went to park, $1.00 per house no maximum, machine only takes loonies/toonies so off I went to the bank, thank goodness it opens at 8a.m. then back to parking lot..

After going on several floors found courtroom #4...ah ha, so this is where we gather.. if I didn't meet my hairdresser that I used in Port Severn for many years, young girl, recently had her leg cut off just above the knee due to cancer, lordy she looked lovely...we had a chat, caught up on my and her family...8:30 came and went, at about 8:45 a representative came out, told us there would be a slight delay, at 9:30 out they came, explained that we were all to make sure our bottom part of Jury Duty Notice was signed and filled out..as we went into the courtroom a representative told us to take a seat but if we travelled more than 40 kil. we were to go in front and get mileage..wow $38.00... so as I was up front collecting my $$$ didn't I meet Patty Potter, worked with her for at least 15 years at the Township, gabbed with her.. now we've put in another half hour..sit and she comes and sets up a monitor which only the front area seats can see, the rest of us had to listen and it lasted for 1/2 hr. now she comes back and says coffee time, usually it's 1/2 hr. but now it's 1 hr....drats..so off we go again..my cousin Linda (we were raised together, more sisters than cousins) works downstairs so went and chatted with her...looked at the clock..ooops time to get going

Got upstairs and they said there would be another hour or so delay, please be patient...all were having a gabbing session , yikes, they came out twice to tell everyone to keep it down, Judge couldn't hear anything..looking through the window as we didn't see who went inside the courtroom all having gone for coffee, were lawyers and several others..waited, waited and waited somemore...

So out comes lawyers, the accused I would presume and down the hall we go..

Representative comes out and says we'll resume in about 1/2 hr. please be patient...not long enough to go get coffee or the likes so more chatting..lol

Lawyers and accused go back into court, about another 15 minutes and they come out and leave.

Now we're invited back into the courtroom..judge thanks us for our attendance, in wanting to do our duty but the court case has been remanded until spring of 2011...imagine...so we are free to go...

It was so hot and humid , could have gone to work for a couple of hours but decided to come home..

Want to get back to reading all your posts, you all sound as though you've had a great day...started my post at about 3:15 and just got to press 'send' now..lol..company/phone calls, now it's time to get something to eat and it will be an early night...

been away due to a breakdown. been trying all sorts of meds which for the most part work i guess until something big hits and then i crash.
been verry dark lately and i dont seem to be able to get out of it.
locked myself in my room for two days as i feared what i would do. aweful isnt it?
i guess the family are kinda over my illness and lets face it, what can they do eh? nothing they say or do makes u feel better when ur in the pit so to speak so they just leave me alone.
heck i dont even know what will help. nothing seems to.
i oft wish i wasnt me. as if thats going to help i know lol.

see? my post isnt uplifting which i why i just dwell in the background mostly until i have something to offer u guys instead of this.

but im lurking non the less. just hang onto me and help me survive this.

Laura, as always, you are home with us on this thread, it's been quite awhile dear friend!!! There is no better time for you to come and chat then when you feel alone! We're all here, many a time it seems we're all riding high, on top of the world, but I'm sure many of us will tell you that's not always the case.. We'll pray, send hugs and here and there we might even make you smile..

Laura, often we forget that it's not fancy hair, gold jewelry or fine clothes that makes someone beautiful, it an inner beauty that comes from within, we know you have that beauty which is a gentle spirit, know that it will never be destroyed and above all it's a beauty that is very precious to God...never forget that.

You are such a sweetheart, from the sounds of it you've lost yourself in that deep hole and can't seem to find the 'sunshine' how overwhelming for you...it's hard to understand why we show so much empathy, patience, respect and love for others and yet when it comes to ourself we are down right nasty..

You have to wonder why we are so hard on ourselves, we should all follow Paul Meyers' suggestion and make a promise to ourselves...

"My promise to myself is not say anything to myself that I would not say to my friends. I must be my own best friend!"

We have to live well, love much, care deeply, speak kindly, laugh often and leave the rest to God!

Think I mentioned this before, "God doesn't make junk" you are one of God's children, he hasn't forsaken you Laura...
