I saw Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
Coffee Break # 43 - Dog Days Coming to an End??
WC the Origonigones are very familar with that happening or so I've been told by the Origonigones. Victor methinks you saw a ghost.
Me too bonding with Kurt and Goldie ^_^ They have an island in the Muskokas. Guess who used to party in the Muskokas when she lived in the NE? O I luv when blurry bonding brings us all together ^_^ Ahem let's just keep it a secret about the boat house incident. I was tanning. I wasn't at the helm. Really, really, truly, truly. Methinks that boat house just broke on it's own; spontaneous boat house breakage as I recall. It's a common occurence in the summer in the Muskokas. Ya. Kurt and Goldie were pretty cool about that as I recall although I was tanning so I might be mistaken.
They were very nice, Goldie was much taller than I thought, we were on the same plane from Hawaii to LA. ☺
Did you swoon WC? They are both drop dead gorgeous swoonable IMPO. More so cuz like you say they are very nice peoples.
Naww, guys don't swoon... unless of course it's Demi Moore or something like that. (lol)
I was impressed by Kurt because he had passed the onboard check point when I won the lottery for the thorough hand check and they found a scuba knife in my scuba luggage. Scanner man started giving me the 3rd degree and Kurt turned around and told them to chill cause it was standard fare for Nautiquacks to carry armament when doing battle with the evil forces of Nemo. So Scanner man backed off and took a Xanax and everything was cool. I tthought that was nice cause he didn't have to do that. That's when I made Kurt my favorite actor. (behind Demi, Erica Eleniak, Yasmine, etc etc...)
Hey DNut was that tanning sans tan lines????
Funny, WC
Yeah, D,Nut, are you omitting juicy details?
Sorry to break in here but WHAT! A hurricaine going to hit Connecticut? I want to go home to California where we have nice, quiet, dry earthquakes. No build up, no drama, just some shaking and go on with your life. I was planning to visit my Cousin in PA this weekend - but not if my house is going to be destroyed - I have to take care of the cats! Now I have to buy more carriers to load the two stray cats up with my crew. I am totally freaked out! Some one pinch me and wake me up!!!!
being from californI-A you will understand this - chill baby
Are you right on the water??
You never know what path a hurricane is going to take and at least you'll have a warning. Unlike an earthquake no warning.
Were you here for any of them previously? Like Floyd or Ivan? then you guys had Tropical storm Hanna in 2008, made it thru that ok???
This one is predicted to be off shore. You have Rhode Island to the east to protect you.
Are you guys sure? I'm not right on the coast but you don't understand how frightening this is for me. I was here in 2008 but not for the others.
We usually don't get hit like FL gets hit, we get winds and rain, remember that Noreaster earlier in the year??? That was probably worse than hurricanes that have hit here.
Ugh attached to the house waiting for a delivery for work.
I'd be more concerned if I was on the south shore of LI than in CT. LI shields CT.
Is she expecting Earl??
No sweat here, (assuming the current track remains consistent). However we are expecting some beach erosion with the storm, -that changes the sand dunes and creates new drop-offs which are dangerous for swimmers off the coast. (We usually get strong rip-currents associated with storms until the submerged dunes 'soften up'.)
I meant in general. The rotation pushes the water right into southern LI.
Jeepers, I feel old compared to you guys!
I was put on "kitty patrol" during Hurricane Gloria (1985).
Had to check on pets (food, water, litter box) for elders who evacuated for more secure lodging.
Golly, this "aging" business gives me more wisdom for things like hurricanes, but it's a royal pain in the bippy nonetheless.
Told ya I was an old crone...
LOL
ROFL @ you guys with the 'no worries RI and south shore LI will take the hit' attitude. Seriously, thoughts and prayers coming your way for you and yours and your trees. These storms are brutal on trees :(
uh oh where's Patti? Is she travelling (I hope, I hope).
I remember Gloria. Was 22 at the time. Working a temp office job. We went home early.
I remember David, school openings were delayed( I was in Jr High)
i think she said she was going to canada to visit her mom. was thinking about her myself.
We get much worse storms out here with the Nor'easters in winter. As long as the track stays as is it's ok, good headlines but no biggie, if the track changes, well, then we have no choice but to take the hit.
DH remembers the '38 one on Long Island. He & his sister were watching trees fall on a boatyard across from them. No warnings at that time.
Hurricane Gloria dropped a 100 ft. weeping willow on my house....had to pass my children out the window to the neighbors. We were trapped inside from the tree and power lines being on our front steps. I could not return to my house for 2 weeks....that was very frightening for this Maine girl!!!!!!
The one in 38 had no name. So it was not a
Himacaine or
Heracaine or
Itsacaine
Sorry Celeste, I know them well. I survied David in 79 in Hollywood Fl. It struck West Palm Beach. There was water and palm fronds and leaves plasted. Roads were not passable in some spot. I was home and had a hurricane "party" !

(Please don't read if you are easily upset...like me):
The "1938 Hurricane" was nasty, nasty, nasty!
A documentary interviewed a woman who was a child at the time (central Massachusetts, if memory is accurate), and her story was tragic:
As a child, her legs were both severed from falling debris. Her mother gathered her up, and the severed legs, and got her to the hospital, but the legs could not be re-attatched.
I hate it when kids suffer, or anyone for that matter.
:(
Can't remember any severe wind damage from hurricanes, just back to back ones, Carol & Diane that caused the Flood of 55....now we have all these lovely flood control dams in our town to protect the Valley, & give me great places to walk every day. Hope Patti is off of Nantucket. Memory, you should be fine.
Why did they start naming hurricanes anyway? They don't name earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, etc. I do understand them originally naming them women though. ^_^
Maybe I was having a "senior moment."
It may have been a rare Massachusetts 1938 tornado, but the other details are correct, I believe.
I never call my car a 'she', they did get the gender right for hurricanes though...
Sigh.
