Morning!!!

Yes having a dog can cramp traveling plans. Doug and I both love dogs and want one but with us taking off on the motorcycle it is not a good idea. So we agreed that when we settle down, (in about 10 years) then we will get one.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Same time, so it was a tie!!! LOL!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL, drats thought I was first

Tubby

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Joyce will Dave know today if he'll get the extension or does he have to wait a bit to find out?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well I'm doing the happy dance for sure...welcome home stranger...Riley came back after 10 days in nowhere land..sure did miss that kitty..

I'm with some of you, I've enjoyed travelling weekends and weeks here and there and always having to find someone to live at the house to look after the animals..wouldn't be bad if it were just kitties, someone could come in here and there but a doggie, no go, needs constant care...when Sailor girl goes, that's the end of dogs for me!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty does Riley still look healthy, like he's been eating?

well the dog is here
her name is Lucy
what have i done ? !

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Sue, show us some pix, please ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, she doesn't look like she's gone without a meal..lol..think she might have 2 homes..don't like putting a collar on the kitties because I think it's dangerous in they were to get caught on something but might go looking for different collars and put name tag..maybe somebody thought they were doing her a favor, feeding her and housing her for 10 days

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the new room Cookie!

That's your baby and of course your heart must have soared to see Riley, Betty!
You're lucky to have neighbours who love animals.
If any of mine were to stray in this neighbourhood.. I can only count on 2 that will try to feed it.

Travelling plans for us include a house sitter!

What have you done Sue? Just given a home to another specie besides your DH!!
Except that you got to potty train Lucy and make sure she gets her heartworm prevention treatment.. and oh yeah.. vets visit :D

Waving to Tubby... hey bruddah... how have you been?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Heaven

Hi ya all.....

Tubby

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty LOL! She was thinking, "There's some dog intruding in my space so I'll just munch on this cat's food for awhile, until I am positive the intruder goes away." Cats do that, she found a hidy hole and someone's meal left out on the porch.

I never could get Tiga to wear a collar, she fought it tooth and nail until I gave in and told her if she seriously felt that way, then ok!

How sweet, Lucy! Sue you're gonna love that dog.

she has a piggy tail ! i think she has some minor health issues but she was free LOL
taking her to vet again hopefully tomorrow
i think its a bladder infection
some gunk and blood on her girly puppy parts.
pics will come soon.
Dh leaves back for china tomorrow and we are just busy with things and puppy things LOL
its darn toot'en hot in these parts
good you found your furry friend Betty

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Sue-I didn't know your DH was home-I am sure that has been a fun time since I know you missed him!! Congrats on the dog-I love labs!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Congratulations on the lab..oh what fun you'll have (or not) lol

had a medicine woman come over last night and brings meds for Sailor..Sailor (border collie) has been pulling out her hair in her haunches...yikes, looks so sore..she ended up shaving Sailor, doing her nails..this morning, just one night of this specialty salve (for humans) you can see it's healthy by 50% at least...another few days and she'll be right as rain..speaking of rain, light mist outside and calling for much the same all weekend...

OK with me as my sister and her daughter are coming up Saturday morning to do rag quilts...better if it's raining then won't feel like I'm losing good sunshine..enjoy while it's here, won't be long the white stuff will be falling..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty I am so happy Riley returned home. I sure wish some of our missing kitty babies would return but alas I am thinking not--been way to long. There are no outside cats to be seen in this neighborhood anymore. Does make one curious.

Sue, son has a chocolate lad--second one. Love those dogs and they are wonderful with kids. The girls can do anything with there dog.

Waving to Tubby--mornin---oops. afternoon.

Well, need to finish checking other threads then catch up on housework after 2 days of playing.

this pup is driving me crazy with her whining !!!
i think she will develope seperation anxiety ?? well if that is the case she will find a new home. I can't deal with that. sorry .
I m not a puppy person at all. Not my idea to get this puppy !! guess who's idea it was ?
well i guess i can put her in the basement .
any idea's ???
she is in her crate. and just causing a fit and whining ! grrrr.

ok after two beers and a cupcake .
pup is doing much better. she had to poop and she played with savannah so i think she is pooped out. LOL

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Sue-the same rules apply with puppies as with children. They will stop whining and get used to things like the crate. It may take a couple of nights, but it will eventually happen. Glad she stopped for you-I know it would be hard to give her up since kids get attached so quickly.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Stacey, glad to hear you got the quilt, are you going to post pictures?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

yes-as soon as I find my stupid camera-need to do a little cleaning I think to see where I left it-I just had the stupid thing yesterday...

she seems to be doing good.
yes i guess it is the same as kids LOL
good morning

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Since I just went through the puppy thing last year here are a few tips. Put a warm something in the crate with her for the first week or so. It should have your smell on it so no freshly washed stuff and be cuddly. I used an old sweatshirt on mine. Crate only at night or when you absolutely have to during the day (like when you have company). They get used to it and now all I have to say is "bedtime!" and mine goes right to to her crate. Sometimes at night she goes without me if I stay up too late.
Dogs will not go to the bathroom in their crates so when they whine they may have to go out. That small whine is how I know mine wants to go out first thing in the morning. Decide on a way it can tell you when it needs to go; some use a bell at the door, others have them stand at the door. Mine comes to me and looks serious and gives a sharp bark. I ask "do you need to got out" (saying OUT a little louder) and she goes to the door.
Lots of play with kids or other dogs makes them tired and a tired dog is a good dog so see it gets lots of play time.
Talk to the dog..lots! Let it know by your voice when you are pleased and not pleased. They learn very fast. Puppy classes somewhere if you can afford them; if not go to the library and get a book. Good socialization starts from the minute you get them and they will only be as good as you TEACH them to be (just like kids).
Hope you enjoy the dog. I agree that the first few months are the pits! I hate the housebreaking, chewing, running, etc. but it has been a year and I wouldn't be without my girl. She has turned out to be a beautiful, good girl and I love her to death.

LK I love the blanket. This is the first time I have seen it and it is perfect. And here we thought that it would be hard to find things with dragons but this is just wonderful. I love the backing, too, just more simple and I like it. Jonathon is going to have so many nice things to have around him.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Beautiful....LK....nice job.

Oh Tubby...I didn't mean to leave you out! It's all fixed now!

Kathy and the Rebel left last night. He wanted to get home so he could rest a bit before he had to go back to Mississippi. :o( I tried to be a big girl and not cry when they left, but it didn't work....know what I mean, Jaye?

We were so busy gabbing and having fun that we didn't even take our cameras out until it was time for them to leave. Here is my Sissy and me...
