Another beautiful display from Mauve Splash. Edited to rename it Purple Flaked as Becky stated earlier. I have a mauve splash somewhere...

Morning glory adventures.. August 2010 in Kansas
It is in a tagged pot, I will pull it out and take a look at the name this weekend, it was sitting in the corner patio barrell last week. It has vined al under and over the four oclocks, which for me grow up to five feet tall, some I cut back after seed gathering , which is what I did with these beautiful dark neon Fuschias.
In this same area is a little Kansas native clammy weed, a member of the cleome family, it looks like a fairy tree. I just got the seed pods off tonight, and they are sitting on top of an empty large pot of soil. I have hundreds of seeds from these little plants. They are very dwarf compared to its relatives I have growing every where.
There were 5 spent white I. Purp blooms on the sunflower in the back tonight. I didn't get to see the show, they looked like they were a halo for that pretty thing. Maybe Saturday I can get a spectacular shot. They are in the shade of a redbud behind it in the early am, and are the last morning glorys to open.
This was cute and I almost missed it.
When i came home for lunch, I noticed a white fluff in the new tomatoe patch, and this is a pot of vines I cut away from the south patio barrell, and it is the huge white one. I have not seen any seed pods on it yet, but maybe we will get lucky.
The vines out front and on the front south fence are always neglected as far as photos. Maybe I can catch the display saturday. from the spent blooms, it looks like the neighborhood has been getting a great show. Sticto cardia B. has rambled all over the front of the house. I have seen no buds yet. Baby wood rose is also going crazy in its hanging pot. No buds yet. I have so many lobatas I bought seeds from summerhill. lots of vines, no pod stems yet. I knw this is crazy, but I feel like I am running ot of time. Silly Me.
Debra - ALL your blooms are truly stunning! WOW!!! Looking good up there in Kansas! I love your Mauve Splash! Gorgeous!
Are many of yours in shade off and on throughout the day? I can't believe they are doing so well with the heat you are getting! Are those temps normal for August? You all are hotter than I am down here in Florida! Whew! I'm sweating just thinking about it!
I get shade down the middle of the yard the south half is in shade last half of the day, north half is in shade first part of the day. the bean patch kids get shade from the stuff on the patio and from the tomatoes. Yes, it is a heat wave.. No we dont get those temps like this consecutively. This is a record heat wave summer for us. Usually in the mid to high 80s right now, and then september brings high 90s to hundred, once in awhile. In 2003 we had 9 days of hundred temps or more. 1980 we had 15 days of 100 temps or more in JUNE. 1987 we had a record DRY August. Still no rain here yet. I keep praying. Every thing is crispy, except for my gardens. For 30 dollars a month extra, I can enjoy a tropical setting.
Most people have automatic watering systems. they are saying their water bills are in the three hundreds right now. NO WAY am I going to water grass that will turn green with the next rain.
Yikes! $300 water bill! OMG! Yeah ... I'm with you ... brown grass is fine and will green right up with first rainfall. Must be a cycle weather system for everyone this year. I've heard the heat is bad everywhere! I hope it doesn't affect food crops. We had record freezing temps this past winter. Been some mighty strange weather recently.
Beautiful pink bloom! I like how the color goes right to the throat. Lovely!
Debra, We're getting the record setting heat like you. I remember 1980,
we had 20 days of consecutive 100 degree temps also in June. It went
down as our 3rd hottest summer. This summer is on the way to being
the hottest summer ever for us. A lot of firsts for us lately. Last yr it was a
new record on rainfall.
I was so afraid my pandy tuber would rot.
Becky, I agree, this past winter was horrible, the worst for us in a long time.
My corner here is full of things, but one thing is really "traveling. I almost tripped on the vine on the patio floor. It was such a tiny plant when I set it down on the other side of the patio wall, and it has managed t creep and crawl all over the place going as far as 10 feet. I could have sworn it was an Orachea, but when it blooms we will see. You can see the huge kind of pointed leaves of it stringing across a wire between the two plant stands.
Debra - Your yard looks like a tropical paradise! Amazing all that you have growing and thriving in your garden despite the heat and sun! Beautiful, indeed.
