Nice ge! I like that light green color of it!

Very pretty tea cups and containers. I envy any one who can keep them looking so nice all season. Do the tea cups come with drainage or did you have to drill holes? They are really cute.
Very nice JoAnn. Nothing like a bit of bright fresh green specially at this time of the season. Congrats on your gift.
Oh and the spider seems to have moved on this morning to a new location.

ngam,

You don't need drainage holes anymore, with the invention of those water gel crystals that expand with water.

The crystals slowly deplete as the plant uses them, then they re-expand with modest watering, so the roots don't rot from overwatering.

The crystals come in a bottle size like aspirin tablets, and it's very important that they are saturated BEFORE mixing into the soil, because they expand so much. It takes 24 hours for 2 tablespoons to become 2+ cups of clear, Jello-like gel.

Since the gel lasts for a couple of years, you can re-use it over and over. I think it's worth the initial cost because it's so useful, especially if container plants are brought indoors in September to become houseplants, like impatiens. Others might consider them too pricy, and just remain attentive to watering.

Oh yes those crystal things and the self watering pots are really helpful to people like me who either under or over water containers. I thought that you still need a drainage whole with the crystals though, learn something new every day.

I would still use holes. You can still overwater and it will just sit there. Also, if you've used too many crystals, as I have done on occasion, the excess not used by the plant needs to drain.

Love those tea cups and am kicking myself for not buying them at Christmas Tree Shoppes when I saw them.

Love that Mint Julip heuchera

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the tea cups have drainage holes ... they came that way

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I don't think they are as pretty as yours, but I saw some Tea Cup pots at Walmart. It was one of the few things they had left in the garden section A couple different colors. I was thinking about getting one, but I was trying to be good and stick to my list. : )

I'm really loving these 4 o'clocks, hopefully they come true from seed. Probably a F1 hybrid though.

Not sure why this one waited until now to bloom, but here is 'Nancy's Red' which made it through it's first winter here.

Wow that allium is blooming now, is that the latest blooming one??? I didn't realize they had ones that bloomed this late.
LOVE the color on that Callibrachoa.

First year for me with hibiscus, do they normally open 1 flower at a time?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Flowerjen !! We have Crismistree Shopps here. I just love them.
Meredith your bumble bee shot is wonderful.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the tea cups I bought were from Christmas Tree Shop

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I saw them last spring.Almost bought some except I had promised DD "No more planters"

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Jen, I just bought the one that is in the picture with the cosmo. I don't remember the name off hand, but I could find it. And the place I bought it at had another shorter daintier one blooming too. The A. stellatum, is one I grew from seed, it is native to the US. I am pretty sure the Nodding Onion also blooms this late.
It seems that they start out with one flower at a time but as they get going you get more blooming at once. Right now Moy Grande has 2 open. Not sure if you know this but the flowers usually only last a day or teo, so the new ones replace the old. My Old Yella has a ton on it at once. I think I accidentally over fertilized it when I was fertilizing the lawn. It got so tall I had to stake it, It's never done that before.

Ge, glad you like the bee shot, that one was totally by luck the bee flew into the frame as I pressed the button. : )

Luck is right and all gardeners have those moments. Its what makes gardening so exciting.

Meredith,

Yep, the bud behind the lovely lily is definately from "Little Shop of Horrors."

Great shots Meredith. Really like the last allium pic.
