love the color D-Nut!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Sweet Spruce Bill and flower pix are wonderful everyone, Allison and Dnut.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Very nice A. Spruce Bill. It does look like it is flowering, pretty.
D-nut that is a nice DL. So intense and bright, I bet it shows up well across the garden.
We had some rain last night and a bit of mist rising this am with the sun. Good thing too because for the the last two mornings I have run smack into a big spider web because I could not see it. Well today thanks to tiny droplets both the spider and me were spared the collision. Hope you can see it, not the greatest shot. The rain knocked off some branches of the honeysuckle but the web stayed intact just fine.

The alberta spruce is very nice, but it was the JM (?) behind it that made me sigh.

Incredible spider web! It's so big, it makes me wonder about the size of the spider who made it.

A spider's web is something like 20x stronger in tensile strength than the equivelant in steel, and scientists have always tried to duplicate it.

Spiders can't be used to manufacture the web material like silk worms, because the spiders eat each other, and would each need its own little container!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that is a common viridis jm BA

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Cool spider web

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I thought female spiders only ate the males? Do they eat females too? I would think if you put a bevy of female spiders together they would have a spinning bee.

East Bridgewater, MA

LOL !!!

You might be thinking of the famous female "black widow spider" of lore, and the female praying mantis, who decapitates her partner after mating (maybe she got tired of doing the dishes and picking up dirty socks!).

Spiders, on the other hand, don't actually "eat," so much as DRINK through their fangs, and since they are food chain opportunists, just about anything smaller than they are is a candidate to be a "milkshake."

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Spiders must not have many friends then.

East Bridgewater, MA

They don't care about friends, they just hang out at the Malt Shop waiting for the next "milkshake."

I think this petunia is Ramblin' Shades of Pink.... the closest one I could find in my journal.. along with AG apricot sprite & purple pygmy
