TRIED to move Shirley's post over, wouldn't let me copy and paste so please everyone, go to the previous thread and read her note on Tubby...
Now for your word Tubby 'medicine cabinet' just for you I've gone upstairs and taken a photo of my medicine cabinet..
What stories lie behind some of our possessions..moving into this house 6 years ago, I just knew it needed love and care..had potential even though my children thought I'd lost it when I purchased it..it would take a lot of energy to make it a home...to me a home is a place you can feel warmth and see that each who enter is special...with little to no furniture I took on the initiative to make some..one of my 1st. projects would be a (you got it) 'medicine cabinet'..with a bit of wood and initiative I came up with the perfect cabinet to me..a little bit country and a whole lot of storage space..I managed to make the cabinet, cut the panel and paint it to look as though it is a stained glass insert...nope, just the slight of the brush...on the bottom shelf lies some antique pieces..really things I've had since I was a girl, goes to show you, I'm as old as the hills, or nearly! Now inside, that's another thing, I'm not one to take meds...bet I have meds from the stone age..should really throw them away right?

Best of the day...
Seeing more lilacs, the continuous lilac shrub is in bloom again...they are small tress yet, but imagine how nice it will be to have fall lilacs when they mature..
Well I've certainly made up for the 2 days I've been gone..gabby/gabby .. missed you all...
Starting to feel sleepy so Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow..hope you've had nothing but best's today,
Betty, I don't know if this is what you were going to use that black iron for....but I remember you and I having a coversation about making an actual "flower bed" with a headboard.....and I wonder if that was on your mind. That is what I see when I see that beautiful iron....with morning glories or a beautiful vine trailing up....and flowers on the "spread" growing on the ground.
I remember us having the conversation about my neighbor who picked up an old antique bed and did that in her side yard.
TUBBY! I knew something was up....my Tubby clock was not happy! Shirley, you make sure you rest too.....taking care of that man has to tire you out even when he isn't sick....he is a pistol! lol
Debbie
Tubby and Shirley, so glad your back home! Hope they find what is bleeding soon! Never heard of swallowing a pill with a camera! New technology I guess?
Betty, that bird bath is so pretty. Your birds will love it.
Went to the fair for the first time in 15 yrs with friends to take my photos. Had a large corn dog and lemon shake up and huge funnel cake. I don't eat like that but had a happy stuffed tummy. A friend stayed with Scotty. When O got home the house was hot so found out the coil in the furnace was iced up. Scotty showed me how to tare into it and take all apart so it could thaw. Must clean it this morn and put all plates back on and clean all before noon so we can go back and see if we won any ribbons. So glad this happened at night. We didn't smother but sure is hot working on the air conditioning. Goota hurry. Have lots to do and having more storms.
Betty your flowers are very nice.
Prayers for all that need them. HUGS TO ALL BEV
It's so good to hear from you Tubby and Shirley. Sending a prayer that all will be fine....
Love the garden Betty even with the flowers leaning over! I really like Debbie's discription of a "flower bed". That sound like it would be really different. I'd go a abit further and use the footboard piece as a changing seasonal thing. EX.- a hay bale and pumpkins in the fall, one of your snowmen and some holly and lights in the winter. Maybe some oversized seedpacket plaques (painted by you of course) in the spring and of course more floweres for the summer.....I can almost picture it.
Morning Bev, sounds like you had a great time!
If your furnace is all froze up, it means you have a freon leak somewhere. It will do it again, till you get it fixed.
BArb, that does sound pretty, and something Betty can do!
Morning everyone!! Glad to hear from Shirley and Tubby and hope they get good news today. Betty-love the birdbath!! Bev-crossing my fingers for a ribbon and Crissy-I will keep them crossed for you too:)
Morning,
well there, here I was wondering what to do with the pieces and you've got it all worked out for me..
Debbie, do remember how you said your neighbors was spectacular..love morning glories so what better than to plant some...
When you all mentioned what I could do a thought came to me, at the very back of the yard there is a slight opening into the bush, most likely about a 4' drop, water ravine but no water most of the summer..when I first moved to the house the kids had some old lumber and were going to make a fort, they started but then life happened and they never did finish it..the other day when Bernie was doing the deck and needed a few 2 x 8's and 2 x 4's I went and got them for him, gave me the urge to clean left over wood...ooooh I could put the high gate cemented into the ground infront of the 4'fall but prior to that I could design a little setting..when the flowers/vines grow in front of the metal it would be like a lean and look piece....just too excited, and yes, seeing as it's near my DG friendship garden it would certainly add to the gardens...
Well now, I just might get started..could look for an old table, chair and set up a vignette below...
Drats Bev, clad Scotty could lead you through the steps you needed to do..me thinks it's a freon leak like LindaKay has suggested...anxious to hear how you do with your photo's..did you get to view the other entries??? your thoughts on them??? nothing like eating at a fair..smells make you hungry even though you are not!
Barb, hows the sewing projects for your sale coming? fall and fall fairs isn't that far away is it? that reminds me, must go check when Meaford Fair is, when the Buffalo Fair is that Debbie goes to is and when the girls weekend in Frankenmuth is so they don't overlap..so much to do, got to tell you, I'm thrilled that most of my Christmas gifts are either made or bought...no stress here...
Greg was over last night, he, Melanie and the boys are off to Canada's Wonderland theme park today..glad they are putting the entry passes I got them for their birthdays to use...
Called home but the girls aren't there painting, something must be wrong, either that or they are just running late..who knows, maybe they are all out sitting in the gardens..lol
Stacey, how are you feeling, no more morning sickness I hope...sounds as though you are well on the way to being organized for that little one..how much longer will you work?
Betty-I have my good and not so good days and I never know until after I eat;) Truly most of the time I am not so bad in the am, it is the PM that gets me every time. I will work until I can't anymore. I mean right now it is getting a little harder each shift to be on my feet. I do much better on the short shifts that are only 4 hrs then I do on the longer ones. I will let my body tell me when enough is enough.
Can you ask Stacey for the shorter shifts, are you known as a 'full time/part time employee'..always wondered, do they give staff discounts..lol..that would get me into trouble....
Glad that you are doing better Stacey..guess Chris is anxious?
Thank you so much Stacey!
Bev so glad you got out of the house and keeping my fingers cross for your ribbon! I haven't had a funnel cake in years and they are soooooooo delicious!
I think I'm out of things to cross....
Meant to ask, will you be going back to work after the baby, how much time are you allowed off..still can't believe our moms/dads can either take 1 full year (with benefits) or co-share the 12 months..imagine..wish they would have had that when I had my children..they say it's for 'bonding' purposes
Crissy, start with the prayers...look how you will now have your own office shortly, that worked out and am sure the job will as well..then you'll be doing the happy dance..
did you ever download and post somewhere the photo's of our travelling?
Must get some photo's from Debbie as well and make an album..
Betty-our discount is only %25, so not much really. I am PT and I already don't get very many hrs, so I don't want to ask for smaller shifts until I have to. I am not sure about going back to work there after the baby. They only pay minimum wage, so it wouldn't pay for me to work and pay for daycare. We will have to see when the time comes if Chris and I are able to work something out with our schedules. I will also start applying for better jobs after the baby. Right about the time I was going to do that early this year, I found out I was pregnant and who wants to hire a pregnant lady who will have to take time off in a few mos? I wish we got a year or even as they do in France 4 mos, but here in the US it is 6 weeks. I will probably take a little more if I can or may take more if the job thing isn't working out. I just think that 6 weeks is not enough time. And I truly hate the thought of daycare for infants. For older children I think it is good to get their socializing skills in place, but for an infant I just plain don't like it.
We won't talk about Chris as things haven't been going so hot on his front.
Betty, I thought I posted the link LOL Here you go!

Stacey - I'm going to the quilt shop again today.to look for fabrics to go with the one you sent. That one is so cute.
Taking Jaye's LSU material too...
Also Betty the shop did not have any soluable thread. I'll keep looking for you though. Have you tried on line yet? I think LK posted some sites.
I am going to San Antonio this week-end, I will look also.
Thanks Barb, no will go looking but first I'll see if the local shop across the street can order it in for me..might just go at lunch time..would be easier if they did...
Crissy, I'm off to check the link..
Betty I might be wrong, but from the people I've known to go out on maternity leave get 6 weeks and it's not paid unless you have the vacation time built up. You usually only build up vacation time if you work full time. It will use up whatever vacation time is built up then after that it's not paid. If you have benefits through your company where you pay a certain percentage of the cost, you still have to pay that $$ amount, if you're not getting paid either is the insurance company.
You are right Crissy, but in some states, like CA you can claim disability for that time period. But very few states have that available.
Ok, cool! A gal I used to work with was having a baby and she went on her 6 week maternity leave with only 2 weeks vacation, she must have gone on disability for the other 4 weeks but didn't pay her medical insurance and they dropped her, took an act of Congress for them to reinstate.
wow, guess our expectant mothers do pretty good here in Ontario..not sure if it's the same in all the provinces...we'll have to ask Susan when she comes back from holidays..
So much to reply to! But it's late...and I have an early morning... Will check in tomorrow....
Hugs to all,
Mary
Morning, hot and muggy here again..yikes, I thought I was doing myself a favor seeing as there was a light breeze last night to turn the a/c off, well about 2am couldn't breath, no air so guess this morning before heading off to work I'll close all the windows and put it back on..am trying to do my part for the environment..got my hydro bill yesterday and it shows I was a good girl, used 67% of consumption in off peak hours...maybe I'll get a star for that! lol
Time for coffee and a walk in the gardens...ohhh fall certainly is in the air, not temperature wise but you can see it in the gardens...thinking along the same lines I deiced to look up when the Hamburg Craft show is on..Debbie, first weekend in November..before then there are several major things happening within a 100 mile radius that I usually go for..lordy marked them all on my calendar..won't be many weekends with nothing to do...
Aren't they gorgeous...will they flower now for quite some time or are the blooms short lived? do they have a fragrance?
