Candela your plants are awsome! love those hedychiums.
I have amock orange that is two years old, how long to blooms?
I also love those begoinas. All of them are gorgeous.
The year before last, Dale the Gardener sent me some seeds marked Native morning glories. Here is what I got out of those seeds.. does anyone in florida recognise this vine? ( It wintered over just fine in the basement garden last winter)

Happy_1, it is very nice to see you!! Looking forward to your pictures.
Our friend phughes (patty) needs our prayers, her DH was admitted in the hospital again with a seizure last week, she is going through some pretty tough times right now.

Joeswife, thanks, the Nicndra is a new plant for me, lovely color bloom! Maybe if you showed the plant from the front porch again, we might be able to id it for you. Rachel is very good at identifying plants.

batflower, I am very impressed with your Cashew tree, and it's flowering, to boot. I am glad to know that the Clivia came back for you in zone 5b, I have always brought them in for the winter.
Thanks for showing us your plants, and don't be a stranger!

RachelLF, I am not familiar with your new plant, but I will read everything that I can find on your Synadrospadix vermitoxicus, it is a cool looking aroid!!

Tropicbreeze, I had to take my dracaena out of the house when in bloom. I like all of your pictures, but the Cycad was my favorite. I have kept my Alocasias growing because I like the look of the long trunk.

candela, it seems as if your garden is in the peak of the blooming season, they are all very beautiful!!
Is the breadfruit tree in Puerto Rico or at your Florida home?

Thumbnail by prita
Red Oak, TX

mjsponies, love the Tangarine Beauty, make sure you have lots of room for it to roam. I had to remove one earlier this spring along with a blue sky vine. Have you found any more cool plants lately?

tobee43, that is outstanding!! It seems as if they have doubled in size since your last picture.

prita, I've been on the hunt for Tuberose "The Pearl", should have gotten last week. I may go down there to the Farmer's Market again and see if she still has it, or if she can get me one. You guys with your "big leaves" have me looking, but there is only so much room in the greenhouse over the winter, and I 'd be scared to death of loosing them. Ebay has an amazing selection. One thing I like about Ebay is that there is "No minimum order" and shipping is much more reasonable. Just have to check seller feedback carefully and ask lots of questions !

Miami, FL(Zone 10a)

rita the breadfruit is in puerto rico we bring it home with us as long as it is peeled sliced and frozen they let us bring it as well as pasteles.

i would like to bring a seed home to see if it will grow. i think they would grow here.

Some of these gardens! Wow :) I'm so so jealous!

noonamah, Australia

The true Breadfruit is seedless and is propagated by root cuttings.

Beautiful photos everyone.

Rita, thanks and I agree with Debra on your var. Monstera. Beautiful and I really like the varigated foliage on your and pensacolagarden's morning glory.

I think the Synandrospadix vermitoxicus is a cool Aroid as well.

Thumbnail by

Debra, I am a big fan of the Asiatic's as well. Love the color on the one you showed. Your little Aroid looks like Alocasia Cucullata a very easy plant to grow and one of my favorite Alocasia plants but hey I love them all;o)

Hi All !!
Joshy45013, we thank you for the nice comment.

pensacolagarden, with foliage like that the flowers are a bonus.

LiliMerci, your ginger is a beauty, and one I have not seen before. Great
picture!!

mjponies, I am sure that you could leave quite a few plants out during the winter in your zone. I am hoping that we do not get another bad winter like the last one for quite sometime yet.
I have learned to buy whatever I find at the time. If I don't, I always find myself driving back to get it. lol
I buy quite a lot of plants from e-bay, without any bad experiences!!
My farmers market is another good place for me to find nice healthy plants as well.

joeswife, I love those Kopper King Hibiscus, the foliage is almost as nice a their blooms, your A.Cucullata is doing soo good!!

candela, I do think that the breadfruit tree will grow in your zone, they are beautiful trees. I like fried breadfuit. yum

RachelLF, Is that a Cucullata in your last picture? If so, those are the biggest leaves I have seen on them so far. There is one called Moon Landing that I am trying to find.

Alocasia Lauterbachiana with a nice trunk already.

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Prita, yes, my Cordyline Red Sister came back, but painfully slowly and it's still only about 1/4 the size it was. I ended up moving it back in farther under the tree's too a more protected spot. We did have a horrible winter here for us, with many night's below freezing.
I saw this on Ebay... jeeze it gorgeous !

http://cgi.ebay.com/VARIEGATED-AROID-PHILODENDRON-RING-FIRE-/180531855524?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a088980a4

Can only find Tuberose "The Pearl" on Ebay, everyone is sold out, I checked the trade list and there is someone with it so I'm going to d-mail them I have something they may be interested in.

JMG Sunsmile Lavander..........these are dwarf, I had them in hanging baskets last year, this year in the ground creeping around, very cool !

That is beautiful! I love morning glorys.
Rita, this Alocasia Lauterbachiana you are growing is awsome. I had no clue they had "trunks"
Rachel, thanks for letting me know about the Cucullata, I do love it so much. It is now 2 years old.
I have to share this magnolia with you all. The older couple two blocks north have two trees that are as tall as any old Kansas elm tree here.. it is a joy to walk past and smell the blooms every summer..they are as big as my large salad plates. Last year I got some of the seeds from this tree, still waiting to see one come up.

debra, that is a beautiful canna from Rita. Is it an australian canna?

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Debra, I have that same Cane Begonia, I've had "it" or rather "descendants" of it since I was in my teens. (30 years) It will get to be 6-7 feet tall !
It is "Sophie Cecile"

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I always wanted to know its name, it is very tall. Thank You!

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

I love the cane begonias. I have one that is about 5 feet tall.

groveland, FL(Zone 9b)

i'm running OUT of room in the front of the house....so i'm starting to bring them in....i'm figuring i could turn my entire living room into an indoor garden...... but i keep explaining a few orchids in the house won't hurt anything!!

my dh is looking for his suitcases!!!!

Thumbnail by tobee43
groveland, FL(Zone 9b)

shoot....i know we just moved in a few month ago...but those BLINDS have to go!! i'm seeing bamboo...or wood blinds.....geeshhhhhhh...i could have at least fixed the pillows!! LOL!!

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

tobee, is that baby grand old?

groveland, FL(Zone 9b)

good eye lili.....

there is an entire story behind this old baby grand.....(which is very cool, but i don't want to bore you with it)...here's a quick synopsis......without some of the coolest details

but it dates back to 1900......when i purchased it i wanted to get it re-done in ebony of course....when the wood craftsman redoing it...and he truly was a rarity.....re did pianos for over 50 years...stripped it and called me and said...this thing is solid mahogany....i'm like ok....and ur point is....

he said i can't do this BLACK....ok....then...he was saying "natural" mahogany is either brownish or red....i'm like....ok....lets do the red...he says...REALLY...?? in 50 years i have NEVER done a red...but he did and it's a sight to behold...he has his doubts about the bench being mahogany...but when it was stripped it also turned out to be the "real" thing...he also traced it's history by the serial number.....but it not only turned out to be an interesting story....but my purchasing it out of this old 1700's house was just part of it's continued story...

hehehe...sorry you asked!! LOL

Hi Everyone!

mjsponies, lovely color on the morning glory. Lucky you, that they came back from seeds, the grasshoppers are killing mine. I had bought quite a few new morning glory seeds after seeing all of joeswife's beauties.
I do have a Philo. ring of fire that I bought from e-bay, but it was so small it will be a long time before I can show her off.

I am trying a piece of this Philo Plowmanii in a hanging basket.

Joeswife, you will always get me with those magnolia blooms!! I had to get rid of my mimosa trees for they always get bag worms here in texas.
The canna is doing so good but your begonia picture is outstanding!!

LiliMerci, Do you have the Australian canna? Your begonia Sophie Cecile is as tall as I am. lol

This is a Pagoda flower.

tobee43, That is a beautiful room, along with the old baby grand. The screen behind your couch caught my eye as well. I am prohibited from bringing plants into the house, except for the occasional bouquet from the garden.
Please continue to share your progress in creating your tropical paradise!!
