Tropical Garden #78

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Yeah, I saw that screen by tobee's window too ! Ha, good thing Groveland's a bit of a drive, might have to make a midnight raid ! I don't bring plant's in the house during the summer, but in the winter, well, it's a whole new ballgame.

Rita, I believe you gave me the red leaf Australian Canna last year. I don't have blooms on it yet. I also got some seeds from a DGer in Australia with some beautiful cannas. I planted those seeds in the ground but I'm not sure if they are up yet. I should have grown them in a container first. Oh, well, you live and learn.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Nicole, they take a while, but they come up. Mine did anyways, they are small, but they will be great by end of summer.
my tropicanna has set seeds, do you want some?

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

I have Tropicana. A neighbor gave me some. I am actually going to dig out some of the 'not so exciting' cannas. They sure multiply fast.

I like the yellows and the indian shots, they really make me happy. My mother used to have a huge row of them, and she just cut them down every Fall and laid the old stuff on top of the bottoms, added some mulch and then they came up even stronger even after a hard winter of snow and ice. I have been afraid they would not come back.

GAgirl, how much sun do the Begonia's is this pic get : http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7973034
I like how you've got them hanging.

Well, thank you, I just have a tiny obsession with plants. LOL That was only the backyard, that didn't include the front and what is still in the GH.

I have a 12x36 GH and 2 that are 8x16, and then the deck that you seen, I put up plastic and run a heater on there also. Then what is left, I cram in my house. My husband thinks I am NUTS. Hopefully one day soon, I can get a bigger GH and plant some of them in the GH. Let me tell you, it is a PAIN to move all those. I am still trying to get the rest out of the GH. Usually I don't have to put them in until Oct. or Nov.

Really none, except maybe very early morning, that faces directly east and the roof is clear polycarbanate (?)panels, so they get bright light.

mjsponies, I counted 15 orchids, I would bet that you know the names of them all. That is a very nice display. I have a ground orchid that bloomed earlier this spring, I was very proud of it.

joeswife, thanks on the pagoda flower, I bought that from the marketplace a few years back. There is a baby plant with your name on it, it is very easy to grow.
You can leave those ee pups right where they are for a full lush look, pot them up for trading or plant them in another part of the yard. Then again, you can --------- lol

batflower, I enjoyed your pictures, everything is so tidy. I can just imagine how full those rooms will be in the winter. How early will you start to bring them back in ?
I do like your birdbath planter with the african violets and the variegated lemon tree. They are very cute.

GAgirl1066, I would love to go through all your shelves one plant at a time. It is very nice to see your collection and yes, we would like to see the 700 other plants that you have. We have until winter, a few every night will make us very happy. I am a plantoholic. lol
