PapaFrank dmail Boojum about orchids. She is a Queen of Orchids and will be able to help for sure! Bummer RD about your order :( That is so disappointing. O Meredith how luvly. I am jumping up and down waiting for my true luv to dig out the old tired currant so I get my new dogwood. O why o why do true luvs have other priorities?!?!? Did I mention I'm jumping up and down? Does he not see me jumping up and down? O sigh obviously my true luv needs spectacles.
edit: just in case he might need new spectacles and it has nothing to do with floozing about with EEK! the lawn :( O sigh how humilating I've been replaced by turf :(

What have you ordered or want to 2010 #9
Sorry I took so long to get back, I swore I wasn't allowed to go on the computer until I got some house work caught up. Plus I had to bring my kitties to the vet and to save some money, I've been driving an hour both ways. So that took up my whole morning.
Pixie, the other three I got are Chicago Salmon, Genesee Country and Xochimilco, which I was happy to see that Linda had no idea how to say either! lol : ) I know I wanted Genesse County because it's an early bloomer. Chicago Salmon for the color and I can't remember why I wanted the Xochimilco, I think it is also an early bloomer. I'm going to double check my notes.
Ngam they had a decent amount blooming, my problem is, I like coral rose daylilies and most of the ones blooming now are yellow, peach, red, or orange. They did have three very pretty pinks blooming like crazy. I remember one was Pink Vogue, and another was Pastel Pink. They did say their peak was earlier than their open house weekend which took place the weekend of the 17th. And that the daylilies that were blooming now are usually later than this. If you looked at the whole scheme of things there, I would say that maybe 20% or so were in bloom. I took some long shots, but I don't think you can see all the color. I'm going to check.
Here's a picture of Genesse Country from their website. Coral Rose is a very hard to find color out of mid season so I am on a mission to find any that color that bloom early or late. : )
Ooops it's Genesse Country not County like I wrote...

Here's their image of Xochimilco
Edited to add ~ Check out this pic of it in the PF, it is so much prettier than their catalog! I think this pic is the reason I wanted it now....

Chicago Salmon (this is from their website, but I've seen much prettier photos of it when I googled it)
I had a much longer wishlist, but as usual thing have come up and my garden budget is not what I want it to be :( But hey there's always next year and I think next year I am going to aim for peak season. :)
I wish I took more pictures, but I didn't have enough time. As it was they had to tell me their digger was leaving soon so I had to make final descisions. I probably needed another hour, but I got there at 3pm and they close at 5pm. My fault, but it takes forever to get out the door and combined with a 2 hour ride I was lucky I had as much time as I did. :)
This is a picture of the other bed, which I could have taken a much better picture of, but I was rushing a couple in, because I knew I didn't have much time left and I still hadn't made up my mind :)
The DLs you chose are lovely.....
Nice selections. That color really is nice. I know my DLs were, like most things, all early too. They have gotten a tad more rain down there but not much more and not lately.
Chicago Salmon is lovely and so are those huge fields of DL's!!!!
Here are a few pictures of Tranquil Lake at or near its peak, in early July. It's a difficult place to photograph well because the fields are large and on slopes, but I tried. The trees in the background are about 450 feet away from where I was standing. You really have to zoom in tight to get all the colors in the frame, but you lose a lot of depth perception in the process.
This is the same bed that Meredith79 posted at 12:35 AM today, the 4th. The front is all daylilies, the back of it is mostly Japanese and Siberian irises which were long since finished blooming. By the way, Meredith will know who I am since we had a chat about selling Patrinia among so many daylilies :) But yes, TL is probably far enough north.....
Thanks everyone. : ) Wow Gregr it is great to see the same fields in full bloom! I definitely have to try and get there at peak bloom next year! Now when you say we had a chat about the Patrinia, did you mean in person? Or on another thread? Ha ha if that's you that is so cool that you are on Dave's! : )
I was the guy with the pitchfork, lol. I mean in person at Tranquil Lake.
Omg that is so cool! That is what I thought but I had a vague memory of talking about Patrinia to someone else on here before, so I just wanted to make sure before I said something confusing! : ) I was too busy talking to you to take more pictures! ha ha ha : )
Oakes daylilies is running a 10% off their entire stock sale
Thanks for sharing! : )
I got a Daylily order from E and B Farm, today and for some reason it made me remember that I had stuck a bonus plant from a different order in my garage to plant later. Ugh I totally forgot about it and I think I planted that order on July 23rd. I have it's roots soaking in water. Not sure if it is a lost cause :(
Here's what I got http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/Meredith79/11976/
It's very pretty, thanks for sharing that pic, I have a feelin it will be my dd's favorite. Can't wait to see Jacquelyn :)
Me too, please post when she blooms! ^_^
I will! :)
Very pretty choices
Thanks Jen :)
Picked up a few things at the Rochester area nurseries.....geranium Perfect Storm, sedum Jeepers Creepers, heuchera Snow Angel & Cherry Bells.
Heuchera Snow Angel was sent to me this spring and I love it!!! :)
I picked up 3 dwarf alberta spruce, will go and get 3 more as they are nice in price and shape.
You'll have to post pics sometime Robin! :)
Pixie I love Alberta spruce. :)
love alberta spruce too!!
Me too. Look great next to JM's.
:) yup have 4 different varieties
ordering a big lot of alliums this weekend - already place and order with bleek now off to order ones he does not carry.
perfect storm is nice
They all look great! I really like the texture of that sedum! I've been thinking of adding more, because they are one of the few plants that seem to thrive in my yard. I don't have to water them and they look really good. I've had to water way too much this year.
This is a very short sedum, Meredith, but I, too, loved the texture. Thanks, Allison....I had never seen it offered before.....
Got a new Flowering Shrubs catalog from PW. Some nice new offerings. Spilled Wine weigela is really dark with curvy leaves. Miss Molly butterfly bush is great sangria red color. There is also a new Lo and Behold variety. Dark purple, but with a low spreading habit - strange for a bb. Some new hydrangeas as well.
