What have you ordered or want to 2010 #9

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Some really nice new pretties in there, Victor.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I don't know if my variegated BB is just struggling with the drought or there is something wrong with it... almost looks like rust

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

OOOOOO a red butterfly bush???!!!! I may have to spend some $

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Some nice new goodies there. Like the sedum too and for the same reasons. I hope this mid to late summer dry pattern doesn't become the norm. Looking to have more plants that don't need a lot of water to stay looking decent. New intros sound very nice, best part of fall and winter is checking out the new goodies.

Thomaston, CT

Like the sound of the butterfly bush......my crape myrtle is budded!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i think mine now has a few buds for the first time ever

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have tons of crape blooms. Have to get some pics.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Onewish, I am having the same problem, although it's with my Bicolor butterfly bush. I am convinced it's from the drought. It's been planted a while and never did it before. It does look just like rust.

Thomaston, CT

OK, Bill & Victor.....waiting to see the photos!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The guy who will cut my tree said many of my crapes need to be trimmed back, as they are drooping too much. Will do that in the fall after any color.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks Meredith... it was planted 2 springs ago... last summer it was fine... maybe it is just the year

Thomaston, CT

Oh, my....I'd love to hear that my crapes were drooping. The one that was in my FL yard, I cut back severely in March....never saw it bloom, it was a summer bloomer, & my so-called friends never bothered to take a photo of it! They just said it was light pink, & theirs was a lovely dark red.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Anyone growing high bush blueberries? How tall do they get? Most info says 4-6 feet. DH wants a screening hedge of some sort so I was thinking these might be a good three season choice. Do they grow fast or slow? Any experience appreciated. Location is full sun to filtered shade.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Slowly. I have mature ones I inherited that are about 5 feet.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Same here, slow and about 5ft.

Thomaston, CT

Can only guess at the ones at the farm...the oldest are 3 years old, & about 3 ft tall.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Brian bought me a present, when i'll have time to plant it im not sure...but i've wanted this one for awhile. I've admired it enough here at DG that he figured it's a given it will end up in our yard some day anyway, better now than later if you ask me. ^_^

Lowe's $10 and it's loaded with buds.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice one Celeste!!!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thanks for info you guys. Don't know of DH will be that patient but I like the idea. We will see.
That is a very good find and a nice bloom. I have Luna Red and like it a lot.

Thomaston, CT

Went to a nursery looking for a sedum for a friend's birthday....didn't like any, but I found ger. Dark Reiter, & it came home with me....found the sedum I wanted at WFF....it's purple, low, & called Bertram Anderson.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I went to Lowes and picked up 3 more blueberry plants today, 3 yeasterday and then we bought 4 in June for a total of 10 new bushes!
While I was there the sales lady came up to me and pointed at this large rack. She then opened her mouth and said magic words.... "Everything on this rack is .50 cents"

Why am I never in the right place? 50 cents! You do need to go back!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that is awesome!!!!... guessing you will be like me and try and overwinter it inside?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'n going to try...my house is getting crowded!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I finally picked up bubble wrap & a heater for the greenhouse... we will see how it goes

Hallowell, ME

Picked up another Mountain Laurel today (Tinkerbell). Had to dig up 3 azaleas and heave them. Some kind of disease which looked similar to mildew only heavier and it turned the leaves. This was the 2nd year they had done so. Getting crowded where they were anyway. Potted up some yucca suckers and varigated Kerria suckers. Trade them at the next plant swap!!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

the fall sales have started - last night i picked up 2 blue shadow fothergilla and a yellow tree peony - today i picked up a saunders blue alberta spruce and a weeping hemlock.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Nice finds you guys. Both the ML and WS are very nice selections and on sale doesn't hurt a bit.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The wooly adelgid is the scourge of hemlocks.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)
