Lots of nice stuff.

Beautiful broccoli, Andy! What is that variety?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi Andy!! This was my first year with "Fourth of July' and ate my first one yesterday!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Wow...pretty early, you guys! I think I'll try that one next year! How's the flavor?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It was wonderful, but it could just be it was my 1st mato of the season too!! LOL

Salad and stuffed clam shells grilled.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

mmmmmm, Sherrie! Sounds divine! And it's such a pretty day to be outside grilling! Enjoy! We had our first tomato and cukes today in a salad.......love the beginning of garden fare!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Dinnie, the broccoli is Green Goliath. It makes big first heads and lots of side shoots for an extended season.
Hi, Pixie. I love the 4th of July tomato. It's 10 days earlier than Early Girl with better flavor. And it keeps producing till frost. They are a little juicy for cooking and the skin is tougher than most. Perfect for salads.

Blackberries are coming in, too.

Crud - I posted on the wrong thread!

I think my garden grew a foot while I was away for four days.

How was California, Harper?? Welcome home!

Thomaston, CT

Hi Harper! How did things go for you? The 4th of July tom sounds interesting, Andy.....all my toms are still very green.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ugh - could they put any more cell towers there to obliterate the view?!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Well maybe they can cover them with those fake branches.

Thomaston, CT

Sherrie...do you have a recipe for the relish? Dmail me. A priest in Waterbury has been accused of stealing over a million from one of the poorest churches in the city....he had a cell tower installed in the steeple for $200, 000 a year, & told no one...the money went directly to him....for that amount, the company can put one anywhere on my property!

How much relish do you want to can or make? I just finished 13 half pints.

This is NOT cooked yet. Just starting to boil. Looks pretty cool !

I'm greeeeeeeen about the 4th of July toms. WOWSER Sherrie that looks YUMMY!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

That looks wonderful, Sherrie! Yumm! Dahlia - I'm with you.....can't wait to have a 4th of July tomato plant next year.....the earlier the better!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

good job Sherrie!!... looks yummy

6 cups chopped zucchinni- 1 huge
3 cups chopped onion - 3 medium
1-1/2 cups chopped sweet green pepper - about 3 small
1-1/2 cups chopped sweet red pepper - about 3 small
6 tablespoons salt
5-1/4 cups sugar
3 cups cider vinegar
6 teaspoons celery seed
3 teaspoons mustard seed
Combine zucchini, onion, green and red peppers: sprinkle with salt, cover with cold water. Let stand 2 hours: rinse and drain thoroughly. Combine remaining ingredients: bring to a boil. Add vegetables: simmer 10 minutes Pack hot relish into hot jars, leaving 1/4" headspace. Adjust two-piece caps. Process in a boiling-water canner.

Will yield 12 -1/2 pints.

I add everything - if its over 1-1/2 cups it goes in. I use small and medium peppers.

I started at 10 am and was done, with everything washed put away etc at 3:15 pm.

I'm getting deer eating my tomato plants for the first time this year. They're in the raised beds and the cages have been pushed around. Only a deer could reach.
