Today's Weather in Your Garden - 73

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Hi Tense! LOL, Weeze!! That too goes with the name once in awhile! LOL

And now for a question for Lucy and all the soaker hose users. I got mine out and hooked 'em right up. But......there are two pretty big gushers coming from 2 of the holes that must have split or something. Does anyone have a good method for patching or fixing the two spots that are like mini-hydrants in my soaker hoses? Those two places keep the rest of the hose above the spots from working correctly. Hank, OF COURSE, immediately touted duct tape to fix them, and I queried about that stuff you can put on a tire to "heal" a puncture so you can drive to a gas station. He thinks we might end up sealing the hole hole because the soaker hoses are essentially flat. Ideas, please?!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Never had a true leak, but I have used black electrical tape to restrict the output on sections of them.

I asked Jim - he said there is no way to totally fix them. He said he would cut the spots out and couple them.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The closer to the inlet end, the tougher it is due to the higher pressure.

Thomaston, CT

Turned off the a/c, and the breeze is wafting through the windows! Going out to weed shortly...they are monstrous.

DH manages the hose so I will ask him. He might use some type of tape.

Lucky you, WC!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

They're only an hour away from me, pigged out for lunch at a French Bistro. (lol!)

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks, Guys! I don't think cutting and coupling is an option since this is not your standard round hose. It is a flat ribbon. Looks like taping is an option....we do have some electrical tape, along with the requisite huge amount of duct tape that every man must have in his fully equipped home! LOL

And chewing gum!

77*F and Thank the Lord, measurable rain early this am. Probably less than 1/2" but the grass and mosses are greener with that one little sip. Ric

Thomaston, CT

Yes, my plants looked much perkier after their shower...only filled my rain barrel to a third, but more rain coming tomorrow.....the Rottie looks like I felt yesterday after walking my 2...the temp was only 82, but the humidity got to me.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Good morning, all.

Currently 78 degrees in Western New York. The rain is coming - Doppler radar on a local news site shows it just starting to cover Buffalo so we should get it soon. My bones feel it, but we really need this rain and the cooler temps it will bring.

Have a blessed and fantastic Friday, folks. :)

We had about 5 minutes of rain and now it's even steamier!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yes very steamy!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Between last night and today we've had almost 2" of rain. Not helpful for getting rid of the weeds. I don't think I'll ever be caught up with them!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Oh how I'd love to have 2 inches here, Lucy!!! Oh, and by the way, Hank tried the duct tape repair on the soaker hose holes, and shall we say, "It is still a problem." LOL I think I'm just going to disconnect that section and concentrate the hoses on the lower half of the garden where the beans, broccoli and snow peas are. The tomatoes and peppers don't need quite as much water. And they SURE don't need to be flooded by a fire hydrant! LOL

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

84°, wind SSE 6mph, Rh 58%, partly cloudy

Rain is on the way, just left a beach in South Hampton with the rain on my heels.

Sounds like you've had a tough day, WC!! LOL

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes it was rough, especially with no crowds, but someone has to go out there and tough it out. ...☺!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yeah - I'd kill for two inches of rain!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Don't worry Victor it's coming in from the SE! There should be a little left for you guys when it finally gets there! - Unless of course it evaporates over Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx & Westchester County before it reaches there! (lol...)

Thomaston, CT

Peeper is a cutie! Glad you are getting rain Lucy & Dave....headed here for tomorrow....a few drops fell while I was picking blueberries today, and they felt good! The girls wanted to stop picking, but I wouldn't let them! Their grandfather was in the fields telling them in a few years all the picking would be done by them....they laughed, but I knew he wasn't kidding.....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hope you're right, WC!

Where are you, Celeste??

87 and sunny. 55% H. Finally got the pool part. Maybe I can finally get the pool clear now.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

woo hoo... poured for about 20 mins.... turned into a steam bath... drizzled again... and cooled off some!!!... the news says we are supposed to get strong rain storms tomorrow

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

You poor thing, Celeste! You DO know how to pick some great vaca spots!! Hope you enjoy the shower and then the rest of your Water Wonderland respite!!

Good training for them, huh Marilyn?

Allison - Pleeeeeeeeeease send some our way!!!! (Glad you got some!) BTW, "Randy's" astilbe is blooming now! Here's a shot of it! I love my front porch garden because so many of you are represented in it. Please thank Randy for me again!! (and you too, of course!)
