Sparta , TN(Zone 7a)

GH that is Awesome I would think of Building one og those trellious things /arbors? i guess thats what they call them with the 2 X 6's with the / ends to shade it a bit that would look nice there and would not have to be that big out there coult replace the umbrella after the vines or roses grew on it good ?

Just a thought ?

Good morning, all.

Currently very sunny, humidity at 66% and 82 degrees in Western New York. Heading for the low-mid 90's. We have an air quality alert. Being that I have asthma plus some other fun health problems, I'm planning to stay inside in the a/c today just like most of yesterday.

Have a blessed and terrific Tuesday, folks. :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

96 and humid. Need rain now.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

95°, been needing rain for awhile now, doesn't look like I'm going to get it anytime soon, thank goodness for my drip irrigation system...

- Dont bet on horses, don't watch them either, but when on vacation always seek out a stable to take a ride on a tropical island beach, luv riding horses! A little too big for my backyard though... lol

It is currently 101°

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Okay it is just too stupid hot, again. Temp is 98 degrees. Slight breeze helps a little but not much. Could use some rain please.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

99*F now, and another hour till the downside, this from yesterday>
96*F Sunday and 94*F yesterday on the front porch," the shady side of the house". Having to add an inch or 2 of well water to the pool daily is a good thing, it does not feel as much like a bath. We spend an hour or 2 in the morning and evening just watering everything, in this heat a leaky nozzle feels good. LOL Ric

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

It is currently 103°

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

102 here - high for the day. Just back from the movies.

Heat is fine - But- When is enuff enuff?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's not fine with me. This is not heat. 85 is heat. This is torture.

It was 100 here today. Next city over was 101 Record temps broken all over the place.

97 here, just back from the movies, went w/ DW to see toy story 3.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So did I. I was not crazy about it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ironic that today the earth is as far away from the sun as it gets. Feels like we're pretty close!

Still 100 here.

Thomaston, CT

Made it to 95 here...yipee.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Only?!!

Thomaston, CT

Yep....cool spot up here....Bradley Field was 102, tied the highest ever recorded in CT.

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

Now, victor - you know it's all about angle of attack, not distance.

High today here was/is 95ºF with dew points in the lower 60s.

Saw that Frederick MD reached 106ºF - ouch.

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

Oh, and meant to note:

Those are not my horses nor my swimming pool. I did, however plant all the trees and shrubs there.

Thomaston, CT

And you did a great job! Hope the owners let you swim there.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - nice job, VV. Hope you get privileges.

On the angle vs distance, some men find it necessary to take solace in that.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey VV - have you ever lost any viburnums to drought?? Other than the obvious wilting leaves, what should I keep an eye out for? So far, no problems. Only the hydrangea seem to be wilting badly.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i have two vibs i moved this spring that are in bad shape - they got two 30 minute sessions with the sprinkler tonight and will get the timer set one in the early am - they do not look good - should have trimmed them down when i moved them.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's always a good idea - cut down on transpiration.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

My summer snowflake vib is showing signs of heat stress, as is brandywine. June 9th was the last rainfall here(about 3/4 of an inch). Just got word that voluntary water restrictions have been asked of us. No outdoor watering. Me thinks I will be saying goodbye to quite a few plant friends.
