She's about to...51

WOW Faye, love that hibi. Mine met an unfortunate end last night due a deer incursion. They chewed 2 of them straight off to the ground. Got some of the hardy ones too and my little mimosa tree. Not much surviving here right now. I can't keep up with the watering even though I am home most of the time now.

The caladiums look good.. :0)

I just might make some plant tags for my S'sAT friends...Debra and you will be at the top. Probably more of a winter project tho.....

Haven't seen any deer around here by the coyotes are horrible this year for some reason. We must have lots of varments in those corn fields.

Later everyone.

Faye, C'est bon is so pretty. I hope you'll add your pic to the Plant Files :)

"'Scheherazade" has two stalks, happ. Both were nearly horizontal to the ground til I staked them -- standing they're about about 3' tall. Not too shabby I thought for their first year. They're on the far side of a long bed where's I've planted mostly annuals (from seeds), so I don't check that area as often as I should and didn't realize til Monday one had bloomed. I did bend down though to smell it...lol

Wasn't it you, Neener, who was asking earlier about fragrant Lilies?

No big whoop --- this is Hosta "Friend Bananas" today blooming.

Susan I've never posted on the plant file and have no idea anything about this plant other than what you can see on the tag.

Faye , you just go to plant search, hibiscus, and find the cest bon name and then click you zipcode, and then down at the bottom you can add an image. :)
I would love for you to post those morning glory blooms on the morning glory 2010 thread #12, you might get an accurate ID that way.. I am sure one is Hannafubuki, the white one is a blizzard of some sort. Beautiful blooms all of them!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh it would be the #13 thread, sorry. Morning glorys usually close up when it gets hot. Some will stay open longer if in the shade for the last half of the day. My Hannafubuki sometimes stayed open until midnite in the shade last year.

This evening I went by a city area of plants I take care of and there is the strangest reblooming iris in that bed. It bloomed the entire summer last year, it was cool and wet here and it bloomed from spring to first hard frost non-stop. Guess what is in bloom in our 97degree heat! I about wrecked the car, that is the strangest iris. I will take pics tomorrow. We haven't had a day out of the 90's for probably 2 or 3 weeks and that crazy thing is blooming. Very strange.

fotv, my lilies haven't needed staked and they are in part sun, surrounded by fairly tall plants so maybe they are leaning on them, I will have to check it out. I haven't even smelled them, will do in the am.

Yepper Fruit Frappe I was looking for smelling lilies. :0) Bought one in bloom at the nursery a few weeks ago just so I could smell it. Problem was that it was so small I had to lay on my stomach to smell it after it was planted. :)) I do the strangest things sometimes.

I was outside enjoying the sweat running down my face, legs, arms, back, everywhere when I stumbled apon this cone flower?
The are all suppose to be those double toppers, yeah right, first year only now nothing but cone flowers when while trying to pry weeds out of the brick baked clay soil, I stumble onto this. The leaves look like cone flower the blossoms not so much, at first I thought it was a mum but nope it is a cone flower. Have you all seen this before?

Found this: MIne arent that tall....
‘Scheherazade’
() is one of the most successful garden plants we have created; this lily is flourishing around the world! Deep red recurved flowers are edged in gold, shading into white margins, and the throat shows the same dramatic color pattern. This was our first “Orienpet” hybrid, and its popularity soon earned it a place in the Hall of Fame! This is the hardiest and healthiest of plants, and can easily reach 8 feet or more when established.
4 to 6 feet (first year), mid-August.

That looks like a double decker turned quadruple. Please bag that flower head for seeds for me. I love those. I just came in from helping DH with raking while he mowed. I am so hot. Hope it does storm here. ( they say we mite get one tonite) I have to get that Oleander out it is looking very sad.. I found the other piece of it doing fine o the south fence, almost missed it. Please look at button bush in plant files. I have an extra start of one if anyone has a location for this beautiful shrub. Mine is small. But the momma is the size of a small house. It is in the southeast corner of a farmland field at 172sw and 157th E. ( I wrote down the location and took pics of the streen signs and landmarks last year.)
My gold sweetcone flowers are blooming now. They smell sweet!

Debra I gotta say you have the most interesting plants of anyone I know. I have never seen or heard tell of a quarter of the plants you post. Keeps me on my toes! Once we get moved into that retirement place with a big open field I will come and get a carload of seeds from you. Nifty!

Well everyone, I would like to introduce you to Lillie Marie. She is a fighter. The meds have worked on her heart valve, so she will not need heart surgery. Thanks for the prayers. She can breathe on her own, just not enough, so they will keep her on a ventilator to keep the oxygen levels high enough. Momma is pumping breast milk, so she will have proper nutients. If everything keeps on path, she will go home around October or so?
