Your holey ghost ate it!
THE GARAGE CAFE - where we are fixing and repairing daily!
Good thing I got my Lemon Cake and cream cheese frosting hid out.
Good morning everyone. How's things going?
Things are a tad spooky in here today!
I'm enjoying the cooler weather and rain. Don't have to water the garden for a few days. LOL!!!
Well, we got 1 inch, but could use a lot more. We are dry underground.
Maybe his ghoul friend was at it too?
I dont know, but I have been having issues with mice. I know the cause and its not on my side of the fence.. ARRRRGH! Never have we had so many come indoors. And we have nouseproofed to the hilt. The total this fall now kilt is ten 10. IN a "normal year the most I have ever had IN THE HOUSE has been 2 in a fall. I know there are at least one or two more as I am hearing scratchin.. UGH Maybe they ate the ice cream that was for the cake too. EEEEEEEKS!
Well I got the pantry devoid of meece poo, scrubbed the shelves, the cans and had to toss out all the food that was stored in cardboard.. what a mess. The pantry has been scoured and restocked. Well the little monstors gave me a great excuse to check all the cans for expiration too.. so those got nixed as well. The cupboard is relatively bare now. But I sure did not need the excess labor in the house cleaning. It was respectable before the plague monstors came indoors excet for the wear and tear on the carpets..
Then I finally got the carpet cleaner I have been needing for 10 years. Ugh. Next chore.. carpet cleaning. Everyone holler YAY!
Yano, I just realized something about mice.... they stink horrible when alive. The smell lingers..as does the pee-doo, does anyone have a clue on how to deodorize other than scrub, scrub and more scrub? I have powdered my carpets with odorizor and that sucks cuase of the dust, scoured the shelves, I am still going through all the rooms. I put those sticky pads out for them and some bait. Right about now a DEAD mouse would smell heavenly.. Least after a few days that odor goes away and I can find the lil poohead.
They even tunneled into my potted plants and dispersed the dirt out of the pots .. UGH. Did clean that mess up, but boy and doooody.. Never have I been so frustrated in getting them.
Are you sure there are no more entering the house from "somewhere" outside? That would concern me the most out of everything.
Well there are two possible places.. the back door looks like the threshold has too much daylight under the door and the sumppump pipe....Never had the problem there so with
all else is moused proofed.. that might be the pothole.
The door, I am not sure on what can be done, but this is screeeeeching ridiculous. You would think the dawg would eat them! But yano, one dawg can only stomach so many meeces....LOL! She probably cuddles up with them at night for all I know!
Time to get a new dawg! LOL!
And the stray cats are worthless...they are too busy eating the birds.
Least the odor now is taming down.. holy poo, un beleivable... Im to the point where smeilling a dead mouse would be a bit of heaven vs a live one. Cant wait to tryout the new rug -pooh-er
Dont get me going on the cause and sourcer of this mess Jon.. Im tring to be a better person and not complain...yano, one person can make too many complaints and well we would not want to bother anyone with a patronage job. Sooo, Yano, I have to
be pooh-literly corerect. Bite my tongue and not say aword, Like heck.. I think it might be time to call the health department or some one...., like they give a hoot about a rats ....a-hem..
Yano, whats one more mouth to feed when ya got a house full already..
So, um, Jon whats the number to 911? Can I order a cheese pizza
there?
Break out the lil tea party sets...et the table... Micky and Minnie.. welcome to my hoome...
NOT!
LOL Don't call 911 for pizza ordering information. We had the crazy lady in Florida who called 911 to complain that she received a half a pizza and that the chicken wings were too dry. LOL
Perhaps you could buy that piece of foam I've seen sold. It slides on the bottom of the door and fills in that area. It's basically sold to keep that area insulated and to prevent cold air from getting inside during the winter. You could also put a piece of screening around the end of the sump pump pipe and use that gadget (can't think of its actual name) that you put around the pipe and the screening that holds it tightly in place. The screening will still allow the water to pass through it, but will keep the critters out of the pipe.
LOL! Just teasing there, but dont it just make ya wanna, I mean this is a crisis of epic porportions dontcha think!
Im leary on the screening on the pipe.. the winters might make the water freeze and then I might have a backlash of water in the crawl...
What a challenge.
Had to put some screening over the air conditioning vents here a couple of years ago to keep rats out of the attic. Quite a few neighbors got them, all at the same time. It was right after a couple of wooded lots were cleared. The exterminator caught 5 rats in the attic. The last one drove me nuts for a couple of hours. It was partially trapped by the rat trap, so you could hear the rat trap being dragged around above you until it died. Lovely huh!!!!
LOL! Well, least it died! Now thats a sweet smell doncha think! Dead meece. Dead and buried outside would be better. UgH!
Well, the odor has simmered down so that tells me I must have the lilttl bratz on the run. Unbeleivable though to have 10.
Had a racoon in the old farm house. You'd a thought somebody was upstairs rattleing the chains and dragging their carcass around. You would hear scratching and pawing.
And all sorts of funny noises. It sold with the farm! LOL! Never could catch it, she would come in under the eves and leave and had a pile of babies. Im not messing with no momma coon.
Then there was my trailer.. hoo doggies. you would be sitting at the dinner table and you just had that feeling someone was staring at you and they would be coming up through the old stove burners.. ICK!
The vermne poplulation is up.. people need to clean their a-hem... up. Its discusting. Then with fall, they gotta be more since the cover is coming down from the fields. Thing here is there is not a cornfield up close....but livestock. and Jeez...people do stupid. Now I said I was not gonna get started.. so stop me now...
So like anyway, days are getting shorter... time change tonite yano! or was that last nite?
Time change is next Saturday night Blossom. It would have been last night until it was backed up into Novemeber two years ago. Didn't have any stink in the house from rats. The exterminator came every few days for about 2 weeks until there was a good 4-5 day period of no rats.
Well, normally time change is on the Haha nite... Time for a change.. CHANGE it back and dont chane it again.. that would be nice. Never saw the humour in the change...
Exterminator.. nope not paying one of them, but got a whomping bill for the carpet cleaning.. that monstormachine cost 180 thus far and I have not begun to push the sweepcleaner around yet so am wondering what the trip to the chiro is gonna cost me.... shessh. Say none the less for the damages to the food I had to toss....its hoovering around $500 plus and the war is not done yet. Just pray for me Jon so I come out victorious on this.... so, moving furniture is gonna nbe so much fa-un doncha know. EEEEKS
Yo Patty, you got the mess from the party cleaned up yet for gitting ready for Turkey day>?
Yo Jon! I smell the a-hem, stapelliatic, but heavenly aroma of el deado MOUSEY! I thnk I am winning! The baits gone, soon that stank will be gone and as I clean the last room! Whooohoo! No more el MIK-EES!
Well, I've been working on my plan to go out to Calif for 4-6 weeks for my Grandsons first trip to Disneyland. As long as I'm making the trip again and have time to browse, I'm taking advantage of it. I'll leave here by the 25th of April 2011 and I don't have to be in Calif til May 1st. So I'm looking at the maps for anything of interest to stop and see on the way. Without traveling to far off my path. I'll travel out on Hwy 40. I plan to spend at least 1 or 2 days around Albuquerque and Gallup, New Mexico. When I came out here from Calif, it was Aug and I had 2 cats in the car, could not park and look around due to the heat. No cats this time, so can take the time to look around.
My niece will look after my garden for me while I'm gone.
Id love to travel but right now moneys too dang tight and we have not seen a vacation since.. hmmm come to think on it, we have not had one in some 22 years and there are other things to take care of. Between the dang mice ruining the carpets giving me a royal issue and health concerns and now having to prune some trees...Im in a real quandry since the hub keeps begging for a new chain saw. Hes a tad concerned on that big old aussie hitting the power line and knocking the electric out this winter.
I'm only going to have the opportunity to make the trip with help from my sister and my son.
I hear ya. Life can get amuck at times and everything has to hit at once for some lame reason. I know those times all too well. It is what it is. Just have to ask the Man upstairs for a little help as well. Everyone is on hard times.
Well anyway, tomorrow should be a better day! Do enjoy your trip and be safe!
Hey. Hub's leaving on a camping trip today so I'll be giving the house a good going over before I get ready for my trip to San Antonio
Well, friends, I'm off for my hunting trip. Wish me luck! I'll be back on line late Sunday night or on Monday. Everybody take care and when I get back I'll make a nice venison roast with potatoes and veggies.
isnt house keeping fa-un! I gotta water the houseplants.. that takes all day dragging them to the sink, then another day cleaning up the mess!
Mistro, music plez! We need some muzak to cleanse the soul with!
Red, that tulip is soo weird! Wonder if it would be worth a try growing indoors. It would be a throwaway though. Well, Im gonna pass. No budget anyway, but its the thought that counts.
Only have my end of the house to clean, then I'll be all set until I come back after a week of just my hub's and 4 boston terrors alone at home. I've made threats but we'll see if he takes heed.
He's managed to wrangle a Turkey Day dinner invite from a friend of ours.If I complain about him leaving to my own devices,he says he perparing me to be able to handle situations on my own but he can't go one week on his own cooking w/o begging meals...Geesh!
Hub's gone until Wed. camping so it's just me and the furbabies.
Men cant take care of themselves. They are all mommas boyz.
If it was not for us womens they would be lost, qartered and frozen.
When you get married, that caped outfit you wear that day is their vision of SUPERWOMAN... they think we come equipt with the telephone booth too.
If you dont like babies, dont get married, because your first baby comes the day of the honeymoon. What I dont get is all of them can take care of themselves before marriage....then after its oh honey, will you , can you do? Can you find, whats to eat? Oh an BTW, going hunting. going to work.. wipe my butt!
Girls, take stock in toidy paper its a pre-wreck for marriage.
We've both been living in this house since '81 and he still has no idea where most stuff is....?????
Man you really musta dazed and cornfused him on yer wedding day! What as it, shotguns or bazookas?
Hi Ladies. I'm back online. No deer this weekend but did see several. Just not close enough to take a shot. I'm out again next weekend.
Well folks,on my count down. Two days before I hit the road to go vist DD and kids in San Antonio. Won't be back until the 27th so please don't talk about me while I'm gone but if you can't help yourself...talk kindly of me...LOL Can't wait to see the kids but it's gonna be a long 8 hr drive....if I don't take the wrong exit in Dallas or Austin.
Safe trip and enjoy your visit with kids.
my husband is already out panhandling dinner invitations from the neighborhood ladies....LOL
Well, I'm going to try it again this weekend. Tomorrow I'm headed back to see if I can bag a deer or 2, or 3, or 4. I'll take any thing I can get. My nephew will not be going with me, so I'm on my own. At least I won't have a restless 15 yr old around. I'm also taking a fold up chair to sit on. This old lady's done with sitting on the ground.
So I'll be gone til maybe Tuesday. Than home for Thanksgiving than back for the last few days of the season.
You all stay out of the cold and keep the garage warm for me. I'll check back in when I get home and let you know how I did.
Got the ol salamander heater going! Have fun chasing critters!
Well, kids, time to hit the road to the Workshop.. see ya here...
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1140892/
Marti, when you get old Rudolf bagged bring him on up!
Red, when ya gits back we will be over there!
Come on gang, RUN dont walk!
HONK HONK!!!!
Ok, now that Christmas is over.....the stampede is done, all the onrements are smashed and broken, theres been too much partying.. whose gonna clean up the mess?
Reds gotta head cold, I got 8 inches of snow with more coming, Jon is frozen stiff and no one is yakking....The east coast is slammed, Californy done know if its coming or going...
What a way to start the new year...in total misery.
Will any of us recover?
Well, congrats you got fresh food there Marti! Boy, Im longing for some farm fresh eggs... I had to buy 2 dozen eggs so far at the grocer this year and man I tell ya, I dont know what they are feeding them thar hens for store bought eggs, but they can keep them.. They are just not the same as home grown.....they are absolutely tasteless. Cant wait until my girls start laying again... I dont know right now though which is worst paying $10 a week for a 40 lb bag of chicken feed to keep a dozen chickens for a week and not getting any eggs or paying just near $3 a dozen for eggs that are worthless. I think I will keep feeding my hens and pass on the others. Least I know whats in them and they got a deep gold yolk when they get back laying and soon I will have too many eggs before too long to know what to do with them making the grain cost worth it.
Now they are talking thaw.. oh YAY! and bring on the rain! Im ready........gonna be interesting around here though to see where the water ends up with all the new up town construction threatening doom and gloom on the low lands ... the place is a royal mess there and it seems like 20-20 hindsight is the norm... They screw up one area just to further mess up another that they dont know how to fix calling it progress.Yano, its 3, maybe four more months of winter and aint we gonna have fun when the river comes rising!
So whatcha thinking on in the garden there Marti? Have you started anything indoors?
My indoor plants are so so.. have not started any seeds though, just maintaining what I brought in in pots as I kill them off one at a time too. Soon as I kill more, I will then have room to start seed! LOL!
My garden is under snow 3-4 inches. Ground is frozen. I have 15 rose bushes in the bathroom that I just got. The are all "bands". I think thats what you call them. They were started from cuttings. They are all doing well and starting to put out new growth. I also have several other plants that can not take the cold overwintering in the bathroom.
I'm really not going to do much in the yard this next year. As it is I have to move everything I've already planted from the front yard to the back yard, as we are going to be putting a new trailer on here next summer. So I have to make room for the grader and backhoe to work for the foundation and the new sewer and water lines. Once the trailer is on and set up, than I will have to replan the garden area around our new home and porch. Plus I'm planning a new area in the back for raised beds for my veggie garden. I'm looking for bathtubs, sinks, logs, stones, etc that I can use for raised beds. AND I have to do it on a limited income.
