Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL! thats my buddy! Found him out in the snadbog yesterday when mowing! Never new they lived here before. Guess he is a sandpond/snadprairie daddy! Nasty looking little guy! Fiesty fiesty with them lil nippers of his! He is only about 5 inches long! Hope he has friends!

I saw our 3 sandhill cranes yesterday. The baby can fly now. Too bad its sibling did not survive, they are so magnificent!

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Olde English bulldog,9 months old,70 lbs and has feet the size of....well...a Cow...LOL

I was pulling apart a left over hamburger patty for him like I do for Cassy but he snatched it right out of my hand. Said he weren't no lil baby...gimme dat...LOL.

He does this thing DD calls the jackrabbit...jumps up and down on all 4...gets some pretty good hang time on each bounce but you better run when he's doing it'cause he'll take ya down.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Our blu heller does this thing we call zoom time.. runs around like a maniac, literally bouncing of the walls. She goes so dang fast it will get ya dizzy and we would prefer she not do it in the house, but she looks so ridiculous doing it, ya bust a gut laughing and by that time, its to late to holler on her! LOL!.. Paint anyone.. dang... we gotta redo the living room one day., it looks like a cowboys flop house.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Bevo's big behind bounces straight up and down on all 4 like a derange cartoon jackrabbit. Really goofy looking on big dog.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL!! Bevo...now thats a name!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, I guess I best go "saddle" up....

Gonna pass on what looks like it might be a painful hug

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Awwww shuks!

Ok.. well yer loss!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well YAY.. done mowing and raking. Only got a lilttle area that will be used for animal feed and so now I can get to easier mowing and not rake clips for a while and gardening. Maybe mess with the fur kids.

Im looking for suggestions on how to potty break the older seemingly unbreakable dingo.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well. here we are back in the Garage... fixing and repairing..

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

I'm taking a break in the garage. Been outside pruning back hedges and soaking wet in this humid 90-95 degree heat. Just taking a break with a glass of limeade.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Finished the pruning then the typical Florida summer thunderstorms came and went. Thought the sky looked particularly interesting at sunset. I snapped this photo as the sun was setting into the Florida Everglades.

I'm taking a break from the yard and re-doing the livingroom. Got all the prep work done. Decided to give the ceiling a fresh coat of paint before I do the walls.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I learned some new 'redneck' sayings today.

1. I'll have him so confused he'll be like a cow on astroturf.
2. Does a one legged duck swim in circles.

I learned those from Ron of the Lizard Lick Towing Service of Lizard Lick, North Carolina.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

ROTFLMBBO! Ooooh those are gooood~

I wished I knew them thar sayins wen the puter crashed.... Momma pass me some soap, I was bad. But the puter was werse.. twas time to put the thang on a stump and take a deer slug at it it was.

Nice picture of the stormy sky Blossom. Was a very stormy day here today. Under a "Flood Watch" until Monday afternoon.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Got some really neat shots of the recent storms here. for some reason my lense has been on the chase.. I swear I have a kodak affliction. Its either that or Ima flirting with lightning... guess I need a re-charge....!

All I can say is....****HOT****!!!!!!!. I just did a short list of DOA plants in the greenhouse from 101-103-105 degree tempts we had all last week. Had the front door open ,back wall rolled up and fan on from daybreak 'til dusk but still lost a bunch of plants. I'm hanging onto the pots until cooler weather to see if any will sprout back out.
Storm came thur Fri.cooled us down for a short period(lo-hi 90's)but it's edging back up this week. Only thing that's doing well is grass and weeds...and I ain't going out there until it straighten ups and acts right.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

That's way too hot. Luckily we don't have 100 degree days down here. It's only happened twice ever. All yesterdays rain cooled it down to 75 degrees last night. Coolest it's been in the evening in a long time. Everything was weeded last week. Got out there and did it in the heat/humidity. It works my brain until I get it done.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

only had a couple says really miserable

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, grrreat, the A/C blew a fuse.... its a conspiracy. Have you seen the weather report lately...? That oughta make a great corn crop!

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

You mean the excessive heat working it's way to you Blossom? Gonna be a little "warm" huh!!!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Aww heck, its been here for awhile. Im only voicing a complaint because my dog needs it. I can live without it, but she cant when I leave and the house has to be shut up. Makes me sick you cant leave windows open and doors unlocked like in the old days when people could be trusted. Im rarely gone, but still, on those rare occassions, it gets way hot for man or beast in a closed house or vehicle and God forbid some idiot takes a pet in a car and leaves it to go to the store. I have seen people do it and not only with dogs. My hub and I rescued some children that a lady dun left in a car to suffer heat and holy cows. You want fix or repair? Those childrend almost died.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, its cooled off a tad here. Was able to mow again last night and looks to be a pleasant day for today.

Actually now we could use the rain!

Had to get my keyboard fixed... someone told me a silly joke about sharks the other day and OMG the mess. I gotta quit eating at the keyboard. my spelling was wert than the redneck thread! LOL! Looked like a cussing sailors typing. Dang Im gonna miss that old IBM.. it was sweet!

So whats going on here?

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

No body here?

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I'm relaxing in the garage and having some ice tea and stuffed zucchini.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Melons with that?

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Been one of those days.. I turn around and goodness its a conspiracy.. yano, the machines, they just got it in for us, they are taking over the world, they get our hopes up, work great then turn around and one tells the other, lets have a breakdown. I say ban them. LOL!

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Melons sound good for dessert!!
I got new irises in the mail today from Brecks. These are rebloomers

I have:
Iris germancia
1. Idol
2. English Charm
3. Best Bet
4. Eternal Bliss

Beverly Sills - coral pink
Rosalie Figge - violet
Disco Music - pink/amber

Will look them all up to see their color.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Good reblooming bearded iris choices. Have a few of them you listed marti. "English Charm" is my favorite in your list becuase it's colors are quite different. I like "Rosalie Figge" because it's a very reliable rebloomer.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I googled all of them and saved pictures, but the Eternal Bliss I found two different sites with different pictures. One shows a blue iris, the other a whitish iris.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

"Eternal Bliss" is a white iris with purple hues and am orange beard. There are photos of it in PlantFiles section of Dave's. My last order for Reblooming Bearded Iris rhizomes came, a month or so ago, from www.paintedacresfarm.com. They carry 109 different varieties of Reblooming Bearded Iris and many of them are currently 30-60% off.

Jon

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Sounds yummy guys! Beverly sills is tops~! I say bury the machines in them! LOL!

Im a wee tad miffed at the fridge, the AC and a yardlight. Seems we have a failure to keep food cold, air cold and the yad lite.

Yup, bury them in Beverly Sills. I can dig it!

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

The site I found that showed the blue iris for 'Eternal Bliss' is surposed to be a list of all german iris.

Index of /Kataloog/pysilillede pildid/Iris/Iris germancia

Check it out!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

I got some new bearded iris in this year.. dont know what they are... dug them from a neighbor that had a rehab garden going on so they are in nursery cans. dont know what I will do with them.. I have been actually trying to eliminate iris from my garden since
they do not do well here. I suspect they are an old variety... but who knows.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Hands down, they're my favorite flower as far back as I can remember. They're not meant to bloom in South Florida, so when I do get some blooms I'm quite happy. This is my favorite rebloomer in the small collection. It's "Tara's Choice".

Thats lovely Jon. My biggest issue with bearded iris is the too wet and the grass taking over. Im tired of fighting with it. I need to simplify this mega mess I have to a when its done blooming, mow it workload. I have tried mowing the iris.. but I scar the tops ifo the rhizome and killed quite a few in the process.
