Ok, because all of us were bad at the Pelican Lagoon, the DG gurus closed it on us so now we are stuck in the GARAGE CAFE!
And we came from here...
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1080053/
So ok, lets behave and have a party...!
Well, that is if we can!
Im having issues here.. I wanna hop on the laun mower and well... due to the monsoon season.. Mowing is not an option....anyone got an old grassboat I can convert and put an 8 foot mower deck on? Whew what wild weather we had last night!
C'mon in, theres pink lemonade in the fridge and who knows what is growing in there too!
THE GARAGE CAFE - where we are fixing and repairing daily!
Good Morning!! Somebody is rocking the boat again. OhWell. Guess we all do that once in a while.
Got some news about repairs to my car from the accident last Thursday.
They may total the car out. They will let me know today or tomorrow. I still owe about $1200. on that car. I could just spit!!!!!
Well!!! I have BBQ Baby Back Ribs and homemade Potato Salad. And I'm bring fresh homemade lemonade. How's that???
Lets git r dun! WHoooohooo!
I got raddishes... but they got a problem....
Well, fix the problems and lets get to eating!!!! Who else is bringing stuff to add to the lunch menu?? Or are we eating alone?
I don't have any vegetables. It's too hot to plant veggies this time of the year. I'm just come and beg for food or will show up with a "will work for food sign". How's that?
I guess we can handle that. I need lots of help in my poor yard. Do you have a rototiller? I could sure use one. Just don't have $600.00 to buy one. Darn!!!!
Nope, no rototiller. The soil is so loose and easy to move down here. You can dig down a foot deep with a hand held small digger in 30 seconds. It's all sand and dirt with very few rocks. I guess I'd have to do the weeding for food.
I have KY red clay. When dry it is like concret! And those darn maple tree roots grow everywhere. Thats why I'm trying to make lots of raised beds. Except the 40 x 60 foot area for my veggie garden. Have to get that tilled or plowed somehow.
BUT I have lots of weeds that need pulled including pokeweed. Darn stuff keeps coming back and gets to be over 10 feet tall if I don't keep after it. Going to have to round up spray the area and see how pokeweed likes that!
Trade ya my sand! Its not that loose! Ya'll have to werk harder there Jon...
Ok, while we are all begging for money...(LOL!) Whose got $5? DO I hear $5
$5 $5??? five doll-ars?
I wanna daylily! LOL! Well actually I want 10,000 day lilies, but you know, its hard to get a hardship thing. SO im beggin lil at a time! Im just gonna go back in line a gabillion times!
Besides I also need lunch $$!
I been eating waaaay tooo many of these derned things and its really changing the color of my skin yano!
We get "toad city" in the evenings. They're hopping around everywhere including on the side of the house. And when it rains it's the "Toad Symphony Orchestra" going on all evening long. Daytime it's all about the quiet sneeky geckos. They just sit there "eyeing you" when you're watering and digging holes waiting patiently for you to dig up something good. Once you do they dart out there faster than a lightning bolt and grab it.
Clay does sound like a real pain to dig through. I guess if it was me I'd attack it small section by small section. That's the same way I attach the weeds.....one bed at a time.
Awww heza cutie! Yeah, we have one heck of an OBoe section out here with the bull frogs and then the high chirpping tree hoppers.. it goes on all day and nite here, but you have a hard time hearing them during the day with all the road traffic.
Man, what ever ya do, dont eat these ok.. youll take a trip without leaving the farm!
Things look much better in black and white yano.. nibbling on these.. Whoooah, tooo much Kodachrome!
Who made this snack bar anyways?
So far that's what I am doing. Small sections at a time.
About the only clay I got is under the sand.. there is some blue clay under my gold, but you have to go pretty deep. Lots of spots are pretty close to qwick sand in which case you do not want to run the mower or big equipment through for fear of the higher power that will suck ya down under! Freakiest ground I ever did know!
So, no bodys got a $5 huh! Drat, what are we a bunch a poor folk?
Anyway, these mulberries are excellent! We have numerous trees here and they each taste a wee tad different ! I will not tell you where the best one is! hehehe!
MULBERRIES! MULBERRIES! I have to have mulberries. I love jelly made from them. Plus eating them right off the tree is yummy!!!!
Dandelion Jelly, Spicy Tomato Jam, Elderberry Jelly. You name it I can make jam or jelly out of it.
Next experiment: Root Beer Jelly
Jon, Im going to go pick out a new dress... I will be shopping here..

Cool, Jam city!
Ima werking on fried zukes, but they are a wee tad premature doncha think? I gotta move them from here and get them in an area where I can bury their sweet lil cans in the ground and let them crawl!
Someone said they tried Banana Jam and that it was terrible. Me I love Banana Bread! YUMMY!!!
I just like the look of the banana trees. They're so cool looking with their enormous silky leaves.
Mushrooms with ranch dressing? I'm headed for you place or are you bringing them to the garage?
I love the tangerine/orange cross in citrus.
I've got watermelon for dessert! I'll think of you while I eating it.
LOL. There are plenty of trucks parked on the side of some roads down here selling watermelons. A few weeks ago it was Florida sweet corn and now its watermelons.
Never even heard of milkweed. Live and learn. My bloom is a Desert Rose. You're near the famous Route 66???
The watermelons/corn/citrus down here are sold on State Road 7. During the late winter they even sell live crabs off the truck.
That's a nice Red Daylily. I only have one red one named "Prairie Wildfire"
I saw some of that milkweed the other day. I like it. I was thinking of transplanting some to my garden.
