Three different peas with Turnips on the left of them. White peas turned out really bitter. The turnips are really great this year.

Adding the sprinkler system this year has helped. The stackers now have bush green beans and yellow wax beans in them. Sprouted in about 5 days! This year has been more fruitful than last year. Happy gardening everyone!

An early white onion, red onion and garlic. The garlic grew overwinter from a store bought bunch and I harvested them this month.

The garlic is still drying. It turned out very mild and tastes great.

Yep. One store bought bunch. I think I got about 24 cloves out of the bunch. Not all of them grew though.
If I remember correctly I planted them in early November and harvested 1.5 weeks ago (June). I mulched them slightly over winter to protect from the snow.

Qinx - Hubby and I prefer our garlic on the spicy side. I found some in the supermarket we like three seasons ago and have kept them going ever since. I pulled ours last weekend. The onions are next

That's a bunch of garlic! This was the first time I've planted garlic. In theory once these are dried and stored in a cool dark location they should keep till Oct/Nov till I want to plant the next time, right?

Still trying to figure out what we are actually eating from our garden. Kale is off the list next year. Cauliflower and Brocolli take up alot of space for the limited amount we harvested.

Charlotte, NC(Zone 7b)

Qinx - it depends on the garlic as to how long they will keep. I seem to remember reading that soft necks keep longer than hard necks, but I could be wrong. The ones I mentioned above keep very well. I usually set out the cloves around the end of September, but a good time for yourself would be whenever daffodils should be planted in your area.

Personally, broccoli will always be on my "to grow" list. It's so packed with nutrition, I don't care how much space it uses.

Delhi, LA

Old folks down here always planted garlic in a corner of the garden and just for got it. They would harvest it every year if they needed it and sticks some bulbs right back in the ground. Some of those old garlic beds would get huge. I use to raise elephant garlic like that.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks for mentioning the garlic. I need to get that going in a forgotten corner of the yard like Jim41 mentioned. OMG! Garlic is so expensive in the store now. 30 cents a head. I don't think that I cook anything that doesn't require it, either.
Qinx, you have a beautiful garden! I look forward to retirement when I can plant out a great garden like this, all done up with a drip watering system too. I won't be growing any kale or turnips, cauliflower etc. stuff that we don't eat now.
Maybe someone should start threads that mention favorite recipes for individual recipes.

Garlic is 50 cents a head here!
