Bad news continues - new unemployment claims rose 'unexpectedly' again.
The restaurant where we ate last night was packed - on a Wed night! If you offer a quality good or service and treat customers right, you will do well even in down times.
Money Matters - Part 3
Gold flirted with an all-time high of $1250 today. Glad I still have it in one of my funds.
Mentioned in the past that I have started investing in collectible books. Some of the recent ones I have gotten include one by Frederick Douglas, a nice Stuart Little and T.S. Eliot's Wasteland.
Cool!
this is kinda neat to see

Cool. Not surprising to see people leaving the tri-State area.
Interestingly my FIL's broker invested them in BP as part of their portfolio about 3 months before the accident. Within days following the blowout he called and advised them to move to cut their losses, which they did. He must have had a crystal ball as it has been in free fall since, and now rumblings of Chapter 11. I think I like my diversified funds even better now. Ric
Wow!
If they're still in business.
Not surprisingly, new home sales plummeted after the tax credit ended. The May numbers were the worst ever.
Why am I not surprised?

France is raising the retirement age all the way (^_^) to 62. Predictably, the unions are all out on strike. They're probably even more upset about their World Cup team!! Extra nice that we're advancing and they are not. Sacre-bleu!!!
California's over sight is just amazing, in Pennsylvania you cannot even use your unemployment compensation benefits card in a state operated liquor store. The tax fraud isn't surprising, although troubling. I thought of having Holly sell me our house.LOL Ric
Hee hee!
Definition of an IRS agent - one who appears after the battle has been lost, and bayonets the wounded.

Market getting hammered again.
More great news. At least it's not real money, right?

40 million swine flu vaccine doses are being thrown out. Over 1/4 billion dollars wasted.
ugh!
Last week I posted about CA welfare being used for casinos. Now it has been 'revealed' that recipients have been using ATM's in strip clubs to get access to their account cash!
Oh my goodness!!!
Interesting.
