Sistah's Reunion at Cookies in Ohio #3

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm so glad you all seemed to have had a good time. Judy and the kids just left so Jaye and I are going duo now! I think Sue is coming back tomorrow. I think that group shot is terrific and I just printed it and will put it on the frig to remind me of the wonderful time we had.

We are sorry for the missing sisters, and you all still owe me a trip!

I have gathered all of my special sistah (and one niece) rocks together and will take a picture of them as soon as I can find the battery charger!

I loved meeting Betty and Chrissy. All the other sistahs were known to me, and I love you all!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I forgot to tell you all that we took a quick tour of downtown Franklin today on our way to the Woodruff Koi farm. We had a fun time there and all you sistahs blessed me with a new blue koi (compliments of Jaye!) and it is a blue butterfly koi. It's name is Blue Jaye. Hopefully, either Judy or Jaye got a picture of her. She is beautiful! We also learned how to identify the sex of the koi........don't ask.....but Jaye said a funny!!!!!!! LOL ^_^

Raleigh, NC

oh how adorable!! "Blue Jaye" gotta love it!!

well, I'm tickeld y'all liked the garden markers I left for y'all! Spoke to Joyce and Jaye today by phone, and Cookie reports y'all liked them!

I figured, the last few RUs and reunions of gardeners I've attended, I was green with envy at a gal who had one of those in her pocket. Any time anyone gave her a plant, she'd mark everything she wanted to know on a marker with those pens, and the name of the person giving it. thought each of y'all would like to have one handy.

after these last 12 days.....Merlot is calling my name tonight. And to think I thought the devil was moving me to buy that wine on my trip. Didn't know it was the Holy Spirit getting me ready for a tough road ahead! LOL

We had just started dating the first time I saw Randall check out the sex of a cat. "Well, maybe I'd better rethink about this guy.......he's a bit weird," was my reaction. SOOOOO? how do you tell?

I too had a great time. The only problem was the heat and humidity-my poor little ankles and feet swelled to tiny watermelons!!LOL

We arrived about 3:30 on Friday and after a little chatting, we all piled in the car and went to the little quilt store Joyce had been talking about. We got there a little B4 they closed, but they were very accommodating and helpful and had a good time right along with us. The one gal was I would say about 8 mos pregnant so we were all laughing about some of the hardships like putting on underwear. While there was a TON of beautiful fabric, I was good and only got 2 pieces for 2 projects at about 1/4 yd each, so I only spent like $5. Got picked on for spending so little;) After that we went back to Joyces and chatted and had dinner. We left early, about 9:30 or so as I was exhausted and wanted to relax for a little bit and get settled in the hotel room, plus mom had to fix my dresses-the straps were too long.

Saturday I got up really early and had breakfast at the hotel (a waffle) and read for a while so that I wouldn't bother mom in the room. Went back and showered, got ready and then we were off back to Joyces. After everyone had some breakfast and we were all together, we went to Joan's and walked her gardens-Betty got some pics I think. She had a very pretty shade garden with several beds and some adorable baby hosta-and I mean BABY-teeniest little things I'd ever seen. From there we had lunch down the road at Panera and Joan and her friend joined us. I tell ya, going to Jungle Jims on a full stomach made me tired-LOL. That place was HUGE-practically had anything you could ever want. From there we made the quiet trip home where Jaye napped in the backseat. Once we were all back out of the car again, the preparations were underway for dinner and Ric and Robin showed up. We all had a good time while Poor Joyce slaved away over the potato salad and chicken (PS-she has a funny story about the grill and the chicken). We all ate a WONDERFUL dinner (I think I ate better there this weekend than I have in at least the last 5 mos!!) and then chatted for a while B4 the baby shower. Betty had a couple of fun games that I won the first and the Joyce won the 2nd and each got beautiful flower pots for prizes. I will try to remember everything to list and Jaye has pics.

Barb-a beautiful layet and blanket (she was sure it was going to be a girl)
Sue-a cute peace frog onesie in dark blue and a nursery book
Betty-an AWESOME diaper cake with I think she said 172 diapers in it as well as bibs, onesies, pacifiers, washcloths, diaper rash cream, spoons, teething ring and a cute little precious moments doll that says the sleep prayer in English if you push the one foot and in French if you push the other foot. This made the diaper cakes I usually make look puny in comparison!!LOL
Crissy-2 packs of pampers and a pack of wipes-YEAH-I love the pampers swaddlers;)
Jaye-a pack of wipes and some $$ which we will use to get a mattress for the crib:)
Joyce-a pretty crocheted blanket and hat, a little see and say thing that you pick the animal and it sings a little song, a xylophone, and a thing that has a star on top on 4 colored rings-you push the star down and it lights up and has a song with it.
Birdie-an adorable hooded towel and 2 bibs-all with a puppy theme.
Judy and LK-a bathtub, a turtle water toy, washcloths, hooded towel, healthcare kit (brush, comb, nail clipper, snot sucker etc.), a cute little outfit with some frogs on it, wash, lotion, and footed onesies.
Mom-a cute little baby dinosaur quilt done in greens and a bib and blanket with baby dragons cross stitched on them-too cute!!

I think I got it all.....I didn't go through the bags, tried to do it from memory;)

After that we had cake and ice cream and by the time we went back to the room it was pretty late.

Sunday, I got up early again and had my waffle and read, went back to the room and got mom up and fell asleep while she got ready. I slept for about an hour, then got ready and after we loaded the car, we went to Joyces for some omelets. We were going to go with everyone to Joann's, but since OH was supposed to get some heavy weather we decided to head out and barely missed some bad storms. Got to moms and switched the stuff from her car to mine, then I layed down on the couch and propped up my little watermelon feet and fell asleep til about 11. After some food and a little time to settle it all, I went to bed. On Monday mom and I went to a little farmers market and I got cherries and peaches and 2 plants (All that Jazz Echie and Amethyst Myst heuch.), then we went to the fabric barn. I headed home about 2 and got home just after Chris so he helped me in w/ everything, then he read the cards and I showed him all the goodies. After that we ate some food and went to take a nap. I slept on and off all day yesterday after I got home.

Now I just have to get Chris to paint the babys room so we can get everything in it and out of the living room;)

Thank you to everyone for the baby stuff-it is all wonderful and both Chris and I appreciate it so very much!!

I had a wonderful time and came home with beautiful hand painted glasses from Betty, an apron with kitties on it from Jaye, a buckeye charm and toffee from Joyce, and a cool shirt form Judy.

It is supposed to be real nice here the next few days, so hopefully between work schedules I can get out in the garden!!

PS-thanks Ric for the OOPS candid-looks like I am farting or something!!LOL

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Hey-does anyone remember who volunteered to make the diaper bag??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Not for sure, maybe Cindy or Trish? Cindy is gone for the week, with Doug.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time, and got lots of nice pressies from everyone. WOW! 172 diapers? Were they cloth ones?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Ewww-no way-disposables;)

I don't think it was either one. I remember that 2 people offered to do diaper something and then they both thought they were doing the bag and one was doing the thing that hangs from the changing table that diapers go in.....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm making a diaper bag..........
It will have pockets to put the little things in, too ^_^

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

I just talked to Joyce and Jaye about 11AM.They are still going strong!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, your supposed to be taking it easy today!

Raleigh, NC

hey Fairy! don't knock those cloth diapers too much - they make the best everything elses! shoulder spit up rags mostly. LOL

Wasn't Jungle Jim's the biggest hoot y'all ever had? since I couldn't be there this past weekend, Joyce talked me into staying there a Saturday and doing a lot of these same things instead of going to other hosta gardens and such. I'm so glad I did stay!

Y'all get to see Birdie's garden? pretty, huh!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Glad you all made it safe and sound!

Note to Babe....haven't found the ring....but caught the bunkie....

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I was going to make a bag but then Susan said she wanted to so I made the blanket and sweater instead. Blue set to come soon...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Barb-I almost cried when I opened yours. The pink set was so precious and I am still getting used to the idea of having a little man instead of a baby girl. I will keep the pink set and hopefully next time Chris will "order" right and we will get that baby girl.

Susan-the reason I asked is that I have the cutest material and if you want I can send it to you. I will take a pic tomorrow if you want to see it. I will understand if you already have a plan for it though. Just thought I would offer since I was trying to figure out what to use it for.

Raleigh, NC

do you know you're having a boy?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes Bon, she found out last Thursday. Johnathan is his name.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm not making a carrying diaper bag, so if anyone wants to make one, they're welcome to do so.
I'm making a hanging one, for the nursery.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

In that case, Stacey, would you prefer a diaper bag? I haven't bought blue yarn yet so let me know soon - okay??

Raleigh, NC

well, Stacy, congrats! My sis was very dismayed to find her 2nd was a boy. She only wanted girls and was certain she wouldn't love him. I warned her that boys charm the socks off their moms - it's a chance to "raise a man right for a change!" LOL

by the time Spencer was 1, she gave me a big hug and told me, "boy were you right, sis." so far, all three sisters had a girl 1st and a boy 2nd. They stayed married and stopped right there. I divorced and remarried, started again, and had a girl 1st. Randall decided, since he almost lost me, we wouldn't continue. Besides, he wanted a girl. His dad was disappointed, though.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Barb-I would love a diaper bag-I had thought someone was making the hanging one (SUSAN-FYI-the colors that we chose were chocolate brown and teal for the room, so if you could incorporate at least 1 of those colors that would be great-sorry-hope I am not being picky:() and that someone else was making the reg kind.....but if no one peeps up in the next couple days, that would be great. The material I have is black with bugs and toadstools on it in bright colors. It isn't enough to do the whole thing I don't think, but it is at least a 1/2 yd....

I am having the hardest time registering. I don't know what all I will need. I have a friend that has a 7 mos old and think I will ask her to take a look and let me know what I am missing....

Raleigh, NC

does anyone have a pattern for a Snuggie? That's something that saved my sanity with the first two kids. since it was made of denim, thought I'd see if anyone knew of a pattern.

"Snuggie" was the name of a product sold back in the late 70's - it was basically a modern day version of a papoose carrier, minus any hard board. both my kids adored it.

I've seen a lot of carriers since then, but never a snuggie. the others I've seen, the moms are always trying to support their child's head with their hands. My snuggie did that quite well without any extra help. My child was right there on my back or over my heart, and my hands were free to work.

Pretty darn sure ex kept mine in the divorce. His girlfriend was 6 months pregnant.

Maybe this one?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stacey, where are you registered?

I found it. it was hard to find, but finally did. Here is the link if anyone needs ideas.

Bonnie-I have a pattern for a sling that Mom is going to try and make-an adjustable one-but no snugli yet. I think Chris would really like that as he has talked about having a baby backpack to carry him in....

On the registry there are a few things I am particular about like the diaper can thing, but I think they are easy enough to figure out. I didn't register for the little things not really caring either way, but will probably register for them later on. I registered at Amazon since we have a lot of family and friends that don't live close. A lot of baby stuff here is free shipping and if it isn't, the prices are still better than the PO.....

Raleigh, NC

sling is good for wee ones and summers. Snuggie was better IMO.

just tried to google it, and it's not there. There's something else using that name.

taters, it's the most like the Bjorn product - it looked like a backpack sack, with densely woven 2" wide shoulder straps that were padded for mom-comfort. The bottom had a similar strap that hooked securely at mom's waist. Made of denim, there was a plastic pants shaped pocket baby snapped securely into which was attached to the cloth sack, so baby always faced mom. I don't recall holes for the legs outside the sack, but there may have been.

Oh Well. maybe one of these others will do....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all...finally got home, traffic was horrific, had I been 1 hr. later Crissy would never have made her flight..I got home at 6:20pm and Crissy will arrive at 9pm my time soooo it almost took Crissy taking the plane about the same time as it took me to drive..took a few photo's at the border, hard to believe while Crissy and I ate lunch that the line-up coming into USA would be so long..from experience of my crossing the border I'd say they are well over a 5 hr. wait..yuk..our highways even as early as I was travelling was bumper to bumper..

Only time I stopped was for 2 nurseries..had to purchase 6 crazy daisies, 2 flox and 4 perrenials.....got to add to my gardens after seeing Birdie and Joyce's....lol

Bath and neocitron is waiting so off I go..sure did enjoy everyones company...I've photo's to unload and post...

I've Canada Day tomorrow, off with friends so might not be until Sat.

We did have fun, didn't we?

Betty so glad you're home and safe and sound. Jaye called just a bit ago and she's back in NC with Kel. We had a great time chatting sister to sister and I really hated to see her go. As I was hugging her, she said don't cry....when I pulled back, I said...."Too late" as the tears were streaming down my face...oh well, not to look forward to next year.

Betty, I mailed your packages today. I have about $2.00 left out of what you gave me, so I'll mail it to you.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Sue. I'm hoping we'll see more soon.

I just spoke with Judy, my lil injun, and she and the kids are doing fine. She has been planting goodies that jumped in her van before she left my house....Betty if you'd stayed longer, you wouldn't have had to stop at any nurseries!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful garden! Looks so peaceful to be sitting there.
Betty what is neocitron?
Glad to hear Jaye is home, hope she gets a good nights sleep.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Neocitron is a hot drink - kills or cures..lol

Please do not send that $2.00 to me...glad you had enough, buy yourself a coffee lol

I'm heading to bed..I did say that before didn't I, but I was on the Best/Worse/What did I learn today thread and posted some photo's, Crissy will post hers there as well seeing I didn't take my camera on our jaunts around my neck of the woods...

Just 1 photo here, while we ate lunch in the 360 rotating restaurant, highest building (at this time) in the world this was our view...

Wonderful picture! It's on my "list" now!

Okay, deal on the coffee! ^_^

So glad you guys had a good time, even though you were both under the weather.

Did you leave the eye hooks for the chalk boards? We weren't sure who they belonged to, and then I got the bright idea that maybe it was for them. So if that is indeed the case...if any of you didn't get eye hooks to hang your boards, please let me know and I'll send them to you.
