Gypsies heading for summer

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Awwww that little booger was thirsty Kassy :-) I read somewhere that humming birds never land that they are in flight all the time, that one proved that theory wrong. So cute!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Oh they land Flowers.
This picture was take a few years ago, on my BF's patio. And no digital camera was used to take it. We didn't have any then.

Aww cute little hummingbird.
Flowers I put the seeds in a mik jug with potting mix and put it outside on March 14th.
Just left them out there until I transplanted them after all frost over.

Shoot them critters Kassy and get out the bug spray. LOL

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Hummingbirds are so cute! I made that second one my background on PC Kassy, it worked great. I'll try to remember that JJ, you may have to remind me.:-)

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Glad you liked the picture Flowers.

Ok bear with me, BF got a new camera and I have been testing it.

Even our ditch lilies don't have the color this year that they usually do

that hummingbird is so cute! great pics Kassy! is that pink one a dianthus?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Great shots of the hummers, Kassy. JJ, remind us when it's March!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Out of all the seeds I planted, I only have 4-5 orange marigolds, a dozen moss rose scattered all over, a couple tiny ageratums, about 6 zinnias but didn't grown to their 3' previous height, a few sunflowers most shorter than 3' and not blooming either, a few minature yellow snapdragons with a couple of buds.

The thing is I planted a zillion of all types of different seeds! I am not saving seeds any more and they will go where they fall! I am only deadheading the ones in pots and not saving them.

I know it has to do with the weather but it is disappointing after trying to grow them inside then outside.

JJ, that yellow daylily only blooms in the early morning or in the evening. I don't have a place where there is more shade or I would move it.

Kassy, your BF's camera takes great close up photos.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks all.

Yes Lynn, that pink one is a dianthus. Don't ask me what it's called. That is one that my BF had when I met him.

Another test shot here.
Can't tell that I like taking pictures, can you?

Venice, I also planted a whole bunch of the marigold seeds. Out of over 100 marigold seeds that I planted at 3 different times, and I tried starting them all in the house, I got a total of 8 plants. 2 of those plants are in bloom. And 4 of the plants are still very small and probably won't do anything.

Very few of the other seeds that I planted came up, or they got eaten off or dug out by our pesty chipmunks.

Here is one of the marigolds that made it.

Hey Venice, did your baby voodoo break through the ground yet?
Here is a small forest of some of mine. I have 2 more pots yet of small ones that aren't in the picture. And some of the small ones are still just poking up.
One of the bulbs will be headed to Florida again next spring. I just have to figure out what that person has on their list that will grow in Wisconsin. I saw she has a red Amaryllis, so that may me what I trade for.

All the flowers look really good. Our yard is about bloomed out. The hot dry weather really took its toll even watering. At least the drough is broken since we got two rains that totaled 3.2 inchs. Our temps are down to a nice balmy 90 degrees.

Lynnie, looking at the photos, the top pictures look like where the blooms were and they always die back for me. The other pictures look like your roses have a good healthy color. The damage doesn't seem real bad. If the sticky stuff is there then you have aphids. I'd mix up some water and lace it good with dishwashing liquid and spay real good. You need to get the underside of the leaves to get the aphids. Soapy water is the best thing I've found for them. Since the weather has been humid, mix a couple of tablespoons of baking powder in your soapy water and if you are having a little fungal or mildew problem it will wipe it out. If you don't, it won't hurt anything.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Mine do that to Venice, it's just the nature of that particular daylily I think.
Kassy, nice flowers and does the BF get to use his camera? lol

I got fresh green beans and a cucumber out of my garden. :)

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

OH JJ, our green bean and cucumbers are no where near ready :(

JJ, he asked me if I wanted to buy the camera.......LOL
I have to teach him how to use it and what settings to put it on for different thing.
But I have to say, it does take good close ups.

OK, gotta go check on the mullberries again. I'm sure some are ready to be picked again. Got 4 cups off just the bottom branches of one of the trees the other day.

Yes it does!
MMMM looks good, maybe I should pick some off one of my clients trees, they are falling on the ground. He can't get around to pick them and his son is to lazy.
Although I am not allowed according to rules. LOL

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

JJ, your neighbor is surely going to have a real mess!

No voodo yet! Kassy, how old are they ones in that photo?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Kassy that mulberry looks like my blackberries. They are coming in now too. Venice I'm not a seed planter either, so much better buying the plant, at least you get to see a bloom before summer is over LOL

Delhi, LA

You guys green beans and cukes are just starting to make and mine have just quit. A few miles makes a lot of difference.

(Zone 5b)

thanks Jim, that gives me hope! The buds died before there were any blooms, though. I put a bunch of pictures on the rose forum, even my little one asked me why there aren't any flowers on the rose bushes. They usually bloom all summer, even the year I planted them. And the leaves are deformed :(

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

The weather everywhere has been peculiar and I know has affected everyone's plants. Lynnie you aren't the only one.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

A few miles Jim? LOL
Jim, we had frost warnings to the north of us the other night. Sheeeesh.

Oh, by the way Jim, these are my Tiger Lilies. LOL

Venice, the voodoo lilies are all different ages. I still have baby ones coming up that are just little nubs in the dirt. And some have not come up yet. The biggest one in that picture of them is my BF's and that one is 5 or 6 years old. I'm thinking that one may bloom this winter. They usually bloom when they are 6 I read.
All the rest in the picture are different ages, anywhere from one year on up.
I planted 4 very small bulbs in with my son's at home too, and when I left to come up here, only one was starting to grow.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Jim, did you show my hen and chicks picture to Jo?
I was pretty sure that one would blossom again this year, but didn't think 3 would.
I don't mine that they die off after they blossom. I don't know what we would do with all of them otherwise. There are 41 smaller ones all around them. Thats a lot of chicks for even 3 hens!

OK, gotta go pick berries again. Black Raspberries are ready to be picked too. They are way ahead of time.

Kassy, please make sure to post a picture after those hens bloom. If I remember right, it's a pretty impressive flower.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Thread is getting pretty long Gypsies, made a new one lets go there http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7938438

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Something is not quite right with the 'harvest' thread. I can't add a reply!

Delhi, LA

I showed them to her Kassy. They are so pretty. I wish ours would bloom. Maybe not enough chilling hours. Your Tiger Lilies will be blooming soon. Ours are pretty but the blooms aren't as large as usual.

I hope someone on the rose forum can give you an answer, Lynnie.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Flower, try again, that one doesn't work.

I'll keep taking pictures of them Smiley. Last year we had one bloom. I collected the seeds from it, and send some out, but I never planted the one that I kept yet. With over 40 chicks, I don't know what I would do with more. But it might be fun to try to start them from seed.
I'm here with them until the 10th, except that I have to go back tomorrow to work tomorrow night. Then I'll be headed back up here the next day.
I took some vacation, but the night of the 3rd into the 4th, is my holiday to work.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Well shucks it went to it but wouldn't give a box to reply, whats that all about??? Smiley Helpppp.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I just posted on it. go to it from the general discussion forum instead of the link you posted

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

OK think its working now, Lynnie and JJ replied on it, try again Yall!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

LOL What a Deal!!!!! That link took me right to it.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Try this link

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Well that worked JJ, what did I do wrong???? Mine took me to it, and was the only link I had option to copy. I'm so confused :-)

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I have no idea Puff. I just copied and pasted the page that I got to from home page disscussion and chat.
Lynnie got there before I did maybe she knows.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Somehow you copied the your post instead of the page, but I don't know how.

(Zone 5b)

lol Flowers sent us to a dead end.

(Zone 5b)

Jim did you see those pics? I put them on the rose thread before I got your answer.

Delhi, LA

I saw the ones you posted here, haven't been to the rose thread.
