Gypsies heading for summer

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, yum! Do you serve it with ice cream, whipped cream, milk? I would like ice cream with mine or maybe some cream.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh and BTW Kassy the neighbor showed up today from Florida, what did ya do call and say I was digging up the lily??? LOL

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL JJ.
I wouldn't call him, HONEST!
Give me his number and I'll tell him to stay home next time. That all is well. LOL

Venice, last time I was here I made the same dessert. We had Ice Cream in the house, so we heated it just a little bit and had it with Ice Cream. No ice cream in the house tonight for it :(
We will be going to the store tomorrow, so there will be ice cream by tomorrow night ^_^.

Ok, I gotta go out now and pick the mulberries. I hear them calling me.

(Zone 5b)

stop with the food! I'm STARVING if DH doesn't get home soon my kids will start looking like Hansel and Gretel LOL

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Wow Kassy, that does look really good! And your flowers are beautiful. Yours too Lynnie. I think I have one of those out front, my SIL gave me some last year.

I edited to see if you can add a photo, you can't. This is the daylily my SIL gave me, NOID.

Maybe it's not even a daylily. What are the lily's everyone calls ditch lilies? Like the tiger lily's? It's tall like that, but very pretty. A little deeper than the photo.

they had lilies like that on "sale" at the grocery store today, the leaves are lily leaves not daylily...actually you got several colors in each pot, so maybe $20 wasn't bad.
Yours is a really pretty color, Smiley!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Asiatic lily or oriental lily. I don't know the difference between those 2.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Nice flowers yall! Kassy that dish looked wonderful, bet it was good! What was that animal a raccoon? May have to get a trap. I saw a big fat one here about a month ago.

JJ don't worry about those seeds, I'd probably kill them anyway lol

Love the Tiger Lilys Jim, the speckles just make them pop!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I have some for ya Flowers, just wondered if there should have been more. Never collected seeds from dianthus before.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Well I didn't know petunias had seeds, where are they? lol

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

I haven't gotten maybe seeds out of the seed pods I collected JJ
I think one dianthus pod had 3 seeds in it.

I'm use to my sweet williams seed pods. They usually have a bunch of seeds in them. Not sure how many they have this year.

I tried Hyacinth beans for the first time this year. Had 10 to 12 seeds, and only got 3 plants to grow. All of the rest of them were killed off by some kind of worm.

It's been a real strange year for plants in this area.

Most of my lilies are Oriental Lilies. I have 3 Oriental Lily 'Star Gazer' that are just in bud now, well 2 of them are anyway. Something ate the top off the third one.

Smiley, yours look like they are daylilies.

Yes Flowers, the animal was a raccoon. BF set up the camera again to see if we get anymore shots of him like this one.

Looks like he has night-vision goggles on!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Flowers, Petunia seeds are very tiny. When the blossom dies and falls off, a tiny pod forms in that area. When the pod dries, it cracks and you can collect the seeds then.

I planted a few from seed this year, but so far only one of them is blossoming.
This is that one ^_^

My carnations ^_^
I'll try to get a better picture of them tomorrow.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I will have to take a picture of mine tomorrow.
They were winter sowed and they are blooming.
Night all I'm off to dream land.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Hmmmmmm,
I also have an Orange Clock Vine in bud.
I was just reading about it in the plant files.
Only places it is listed as growing now is California and Florida.
Dare I tell them that mine wintered over, in a pot outside in Wisconsin??? LOL

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Nite JJ,

BF will be kicking me off here soon too.
That's ok with me though, all that baking and berry picking made me tire.
Plus the fact that I was up for over 24 hours yesterday probably didn't help. I started vacation yesterday. Have to go back and work the night of the 3rd into the morning of the 4th, and then have to go back in for 2 more hours the evening of the 4th, and then I'm on vacation until the 10th.

Nite all ^_^

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, very nice carnations!!! I planted your petunia seeds with others but don't see any flowers.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Mine took a while to grow and I only have the one blossoming.
Planted a number of the marigolds and got very few of them. I think I have 2 in blossom right now.
It's been a bad year for seeds here.

How is your tiny voodoo Venice? Has it come up yet?

Delhi, LA

Really nice flowers everyone. Shame on you Kassy for tempting us. I think I'll go have a cookie or ten.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

You sure have patience Kassy. I don't have the patience for collecting seeds, especially off of dianthus.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I'm gonna try to find those petunia seeds, I buy those mugs every year and sure would be nice if I could grow my own. Will have to try JJ's milk jug green house planter deal.

(Zone 5b)

can anybody tell me what's wrong with my william baffin rosebush? I treated with Bayer All In One and sprayed with NEEM...I think it still has aphids i saw sticky stuff on the stems. But what's making the tips dry up and die?

picture of my climbinbg rose...I treated with Bayer All In One and sprayed with NEEM, i think it still has aphids there's sticky stuff on the branches. But why are the buds drying up and falling off, and why are the new leaves curly and deformed?

(Zone 5b)

oops sorry for the double post...computer issues....here's a close up of the leaves

(Zone 5b)

I'm getting the same tip die off with my knockouts. I treated those the same, and they're producing buds but only a couple.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I surfed around a little bit, the only thing I could find was BOTRYTIS BLIGHT, as far as the buds drying & falling off.

Here's a wiki link, it seemed to have some good info in general
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pests_and_diseases_of_roses

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Here's another one Lynnie
http://www.olyrose.org/pests.htm

(Zone 5b)

I don't think it's botrytis because the one thing I don't have going on out there is fuzzy mold
lol
looks like aphids can cause the bud damage & leaf twisting...
took my life in my hands out there, that mad hornet was trying to keep me out of there! grrr!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Can of Black flag Should take care of him

Edited to fix spelling duh

Heres a picture of some of the petunias I planted from seed. I have two of these.
I did good if I do say so myself.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Good job on the petunias JJ ^_^

Those seeds sure are tiny. I'm still waiting for some that I planted to get big enough to blossom. If something doesn't eat them first.
Someone sent me mix color seeds, so I don't know what colors I will get yet.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks Kassy.
That was the first time I ever kept any seeds fom anything so was pretty proud of myself.
Had some planted in the yard where we cut down the weeping cherry tree but DH mowed them over.

I just kept whatever fell out, and didn't try to clean them really well. LOL

(Zone 5b)

I'll see what Jim thinks about the roses, he has a few. It WAS ridiculously humid here for a month.
JJ those are sure pretty!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Pretty petoonies, JJ.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Well since I'm sitting in for Moon Lynnie, I would say your rose bush is doomed LOL No just kidding, I would cut the bad way back and see what happens. As with most plants if it is diseased and you can get rid of the problem before it gets to the rest of the plant you can save it. But now thats my way of doing things LOL (Better ask Jim)!

Yeaaaaaa JJ you did do good! Did you start those indoors in January or straight in pot as soon as frost was over?

Hi Kassy, did ya save me some rubarb pie?

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

We have lots left yet Flowers. Come on over ^_^

JJ, your doing good. Hey, I'm trying here and I got bugs, worms, and chipmunks fighting against me :(
I told my BF when I move his pink lily, the area it goes to will be caged in so the chipmunks can't get to them. At least until the ground gets a little harder and they can't get to them.
I'm worried about my passion flower and my hyacinth bean plants that just went out today. I'm worried that the chipmunks will dig them out or eat them. They kept digging one of my petunias out.

Got this picture the last time I was over at the neighbors up here ^_^
