I hope it is much better tomorrow Victor. Need a nice spiffy pair of safety goggles for father's day I think. Something in a nice blue or restful green so then you can wrestle those shrubs into submission.

78 and cooler than yesterday. Had .07" last night. DD rode the horse home from school today, the seniors got out early.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Maybe the Elton John sparkley odd shaped kind.

While wearing his orange jump suit. Nice vision. Too bad Victor can't see it.

Seven yards of gravel got delivered this morning for rebuilding the timber walls, so we get better drainage. I am not moving any of it.

Foggy morning. Patti

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Well just in from checking to see what was what after that nasty storm yesterday afternoon. Had showers and drizzle until around 8pm last night so this morning was the first chance to get a good look. Not too bad really considering how forceful the rain and wind were. The usual suspects were splayed on the ground. 'Blue Hill' salvia which opens up and needs a hair cut eventually anyway will need a trim earlier this year. The peonies that are top heavy to begin with will need trimming too. Just the ones out back though, since they were already full of blooms. Also the rhodo had some branches broken as did the red twig dogwood. Both should have been pruned last year and were on the list of things to do this week anyway so that was done first thing this morning. The rhodo will look a little thin for a while but not bad at all considering. The rest of the garden looks refreshed. The sun has returned and it is a lovely day. The temp is 70 degrees and the wind is calm.

Thomaston, CT

Sounds like a nasty storm, Pat. Sorry you are still suffering, Victor! And Pixie, terrible air quality! It's 70 here, the gardens are perky after the rains, I'm still working on the bathroom....painting today!

Wow. What time?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Today my eye finally feels pretty good. Only slightly red and uncomfortable. It was real misery for days. Don't do the same thing!

Bug Spray

Thomaston, CT

Wow, sorry, Victor....you really did a job on that eye. We lost our power just before 2, & I actually posted at 4:46. The strike was close, because the flash was blinding when the lights went out.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Robin. Glad it is on the mend. I'm hoping for some lightning photos!

Thomaston, CT

Good luck....storms for the next several days.....

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Victor - I was holding my breath about your eye as I was reading through this thread over the last few days (been off-com for a bit).....so relieved to read that you are doing better. That is very scary!

We had the pounding rain and even hail for a few minutes today. Very windy and the backyard looked like a small lake for about a half hour. Lots of lightning and thunder too.

Marilyn - lovely pool and cute kids! Nice summer scene!

70 right now and slightly less humidity. Huge bear at our back door last night around 10:00 when Hank went to let the dogs out. This morning I discovered he had broken my feeder at Cuppatea in half. Hank brought the girls into the bedroom with me and ran for the camera, but he was stepping over our patio fence and exiting stage right. Hank said he is the biggest bear he's ever seen. Yikes! Looking around carefully tonight!
