I woke up to a smoky yard, thought neighbors were burning, found out there are fires in Quebec that smoke has made it all the way to the Cape! http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2010/05/30/canadian_fires_bring_smoke_to_new_england/
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 70
Hot one today. 83 and sunny. 48% humidity. Decent breeze, though.
90 50% humidity
70s here & we can see some smoke as well NE of Boston.
Funny you should say that, Meredith. On our walk this morning, Hank said he could smell the Quebec fires. It reminded him of the Georgia mountains last fall. He said it was a similar smell. I have no sense of smell, so I was clueless as always. (Don't touch that one, guys!) LOL
Happy Memorial Day! I sure do feel thankful to have what we have because of those who have served and those who have made the ultimate gift to us all.
Getting dark and hearing some distant thunder. We need some rain. My large mopheads were droopy this AM.
77 and overcast.
I smelled it (smoke) yesterday morning, last night, and again this morning.
73 and beautiful here!
80 and sunny. Was a little hot for the parade this am. Had a cookout after and the breeze kicked up some.
Thunderstorms rolling in
We never got anything, though the temp did drop nicely. 77 now. I was hoping for some good lightning.
i had a fire last night in the fire pit and cindy thought it was still going this morning - those fires in quebec must be huge!
Ugh. Scratched my eye again. Same one. This time on a JM branch while reaching in to pullout wild grape vines. Tearing and burning like heck. One-eyed right now. Dumb.
Yes they must be huge! There was actual smoke rolling through here at 7:30 am. My husband and I complained about how rude the person was , that had a fire going! It made more sense when we found out what was going on. Now it's just more hazy than actually smokey. Seemed to fit for Memorial Day, after battles there was always fire, right.
Yikes, Victor....take care of that eye! Hope you are two-eyed again soon!
Still hazy from the fire in Canada here. Smells like some one is BBQing old tires or something. Can't believe the smoke is all the way down here. Must be an awful fire, I heard they have 1200 firefighters working on it. Before the smoke rolled in it was a lovely day. Temp now is 64 degrees. Hoping for some rain tomorrow to help settle in the rose and artemesia.
Do you have any eye drops left over from the last time? That's the one thing hubby hates the worst, anything happening to his eyes, he'd rather have his arm cut off.
Oooo Victor I do hope it is better quickly. That is the worst feeling to scratch your eye. Not fun at all.
The little ones are just too cute! Looks like a fine time Robin.
the pool looks like fun RD... feel better Victor
68 and raining now.
The kids are very cute, Robindog.
- Sorry to hear about your accident Victor, hoping there is no serious damage. - pls be careful! (☺)
66°, wind SSE 8mph, cloudy
Did some exploring today with DW, ended up in West Hampton, found a really good fishing spot...
(top secret, lol!)
warm and humid here with t-storms on the way this afternoon.
take care of the eye victor!
76 with 78% humidity...it is nasty out there. Heavy rain expected this afternoon
74°, wind SSW 7.7mph, Rh 51%, partly sunny
- showers & thunderstorms expected here also tonight.
Wind just picked up
Hazy, overcast and humid, temp 67 degrees. Lots of thunder overnight but the rain passed just north of here. Better shot at some rain this afternoon.
54 and raining lightly, great for the garden. ^_^
Hope your eye feels better soon Victor, i've been suffering for a few days w/ plugged ducts again. Very windy conditions stirs the dry soil and the smoke coming out of Canada hasn't helped.
Yesterday was all hazy from the fires from Quebec. I thought DH was joking when he had complained about smelling the fires the day before. But it was very apparent yesterday. Today it is much clearer so far. Wind shift. No smell.
Victor, I hope your eye is better. I scratched mine moving a cactus out of the green house the other day and had to keep medical goop in my eye and wear sunglasses for two days, as it was all bloodshot and puffy. All better now.
I still haven't staked the last of the tomatoes, nor have I planted my caladiums. I keep getting sidetracked, but today will be the day. I hope. Have a great start to June, all. Patti
Ouch!!! a cactus in the eye, can't feel good either.
Cloudy & 73....we need rain badly.
rain just arrived hoping for a cool down and to knock the pine pollen down
Storm just rolled thru with some needed rain
Big time t-storm has just rolled by. Heavy sheets of rain, strong gusty winds and lots of wall to wall lightening and thunder. Still having light to moderate rain now so can't go out yet to make sure all is well. Looks okay from what I can see from the windows and we really needed some rain.
was hoping to get a storm like that here pat - only showered
Well I do appreciate the rain but could do without the lightening and wind. I did not hear or see any hail thankfully. A couple houses got hit north and west of my area so not thrilled with that severe t-storm warning flashing on the tv. Hope that is the worst one we see all summer, but may be hoping for too much. Next go round you have the storm and I'll take the showers, deal? ^_^
We had a few showers, one heavy, but not much thunder or lightning....the dogs only stayed by my feet.
Looks like we might get some rain. Hope so, but it may go north of us. Patti
Hey all. Just checking in. Still suffering with this eye. Tearing, red and still hurting. Can't look at the computer or read.
Had a brief shower - nothing much.
Hopefully I will be better tomorrow. Using drops and ointment.
