Nice pic of the egret.

Garden Projects 2
thanks all - i am real happy with how it came out - now i need to get a bunch of flat ones for the wall i will do with the stone shown on the top of this thread - used them all up on this one.
the pillars are in the ground by about a foot or so ric - they are actually foundations stones.
karen i do have the bonsai on the big boulder of granite i pulled out from out back - i have decided it really should be a seat so i have a large flat one i will take off a wall here for the bonsai - always tweaking.............
Well just a great job as usual Bill. I love the end pillars too. My back hurts just thinking about all that rock moving.
Ric taming a jungle is never easy, good luck with yours.
True...I have a few that need help here, but maybe not this year.
Thanks for clarifying that for me, Bill. I'm sure that current bonsai display rock will make a great seat.
Karen
That's an EXCELLENT link, Ric, thanks so much! I'm realizing, though, that what I really want is water where I can reach it, not down on the ground. The sink is really not the point, it's the water.
Hey guys it's Holly just wanted to tell you how great those walls look.
Wha, wonderful rock work just beautiful.
Noreaster, Your rocks look very good like what you have been doing with them.
Nutsfordaylily, That path is wonderful.
Just found this thread...duh....keep forgetting to check the thread list! Wow....Colleen, Karen, Patti and Bill.......what a lot of work you guys have been doing! Great job!
Colleen - in your first shots of your new hypertufa wall (which looks fantastic, by the way!), what are the hosta varieties in your second photo, if you don't mind my asking. Your gardens look really great! I also like your small garden with the left-over hypertufa.
Bill - fantastic job.....looks like it's always been there, and it looks especially good with the foundation stones. Remember the pink quartz stone you brought me from shopping in our woods? Well, Hank has started an extension of the stone wall near our BBQ pit, going around the corner nearest the house. He has more stones to add, but I wanted to show you the new resting place of the pink stone. I planted a pink astilbe behind it, and a plectranthus and heuchera from Allison around it. The color veins in that stone are too pretty not to have it closer so we could see the detail more. Thanks again for that!!

Donniebrook, the hosta in the lower half of that pic are, left to right, Remember Me, Love Pat, and El Nino. Regal Splendor is the big one on the right, below the hypertufa bed, and the small gold one next to that is Emerald Ruff Cut.
The hosta in the new small bed are Barbara Ann and June.
Oh, you're GOOOOOD, Colleen! Thanks very much. I have some NOIDs that I'm trying to ID that look like yours. Some aren't in Plantfiles from what I can see, so I'll take a closer look at mine up against yours and see if there's a match. Your gardens are very lovely!!!
looks good louise! i knew i should have hid that rose quartz:)
re-did the other side of the wall and set up the black flat stone for the bonsai - i will try and get a pic tomorrow - finished the big weed and trim in the back - still need to do the driveway and top area's.
Y'all have been BUSY!!! Still cold here so I shopped (tee hee). Picked up my the annual cedars for my containers, 2 cannas, a rosemary and some flats of impatiens and waxy begonias.
I planted white angelonia, red/green coleus, & white waxy begonias with bronze leaves around the wellhouse.
weeded and trimmed the in front of the house and the hill side of the driveway - only have the left side of the driveway left - can't have any weeds when patti shows up:)
Sheez - I saw one weed when we were there.....what are we, chopped liver? LOL
No, Louise, you are a delicious pate de foie gras!
And in garden photo thread 11, post number 7635178 there is a weed in the lower left hand corner.
LOL, Debilu and Carrie!!!
snicker.
I weeded today in the back garden & watched my very bad dogs chase a cat up an apple tree....our yard is fenced, the cat must have jumped over it.
deb you are welcome to come pull that one out:)

Weeds? I am canceling my trip. I have a whole lot of nut grass coming up in a couple of beds. DH loves to pull my chain and refuses to call the one I named the Cedar Bed anything but the Nut Grass Bed. It will take years to get rid of it, unless my name was Wha. Patti
:)
had a dilemma averted yesterday - my next wall (picture at top of thread) is about 50' long and i used all the small stone used on the inside of the wall building the this last one (it is truely amazing how much is needed) - spotted my neighbors yesterday and asked if they had any piles of small stone they had dumped i could take - they do and i will start moving some today:)
Another wall. Oh my. Any room left for plants, truck, house and wife? Patti
I'm worried about wife, forget truck and plants!
LOL! You guys are too funny. Of course most good humor has a speck of truth to it doesn't it Bill. ^_^
no worries - i take good care of my wife:)
you're sweet Bill
I think she is most likely sweeter than Wha, but she must love living in a Botanical garden.
DH went to order rocks today, nothing fun, just stuff for better drainage, but I am having to write a check for over 500 bucks. That hurts. Timber is coming tomorrow too and that is another couple of thousand and that doesn't include all the wood for the stairs. Just think of all the plants, I can't buy now. Hate this huge expense and mess. We now can't leave the island until Thurs. Patti
That's how I felt when I had to replace the furnace this year....who needs heat!
Exactly - heat schmeat.
I was thinkin the same thing about replacing the furnace this winter but I discovered it is tres difficult to type with mittens on.
Thanks, Holly and Louise!
I have been very busy this weekend. Got a lot of weeding (I'll never have my beds as weed-free as Bills!) and mulching done, as well as planting and potting. All my containers are done. I might buy more impatiens for one of my front shade beds. I would like the plant the Blue Pearl one (even though it's a lavender, not a blue, but as close to blue as you'll get on an impatien).
Louise, your new rock wall with the pink quartz looks great. Hank did good!
Well, I for one need heat. Can't live all bundled up all the time. I hate winter! Glad it's still a long way off.
Karen
off to truck in more rocks today - will focus on smaller stone (10-15pds) which will make the stacking go much faster. will also look for flat ones for the top.
Sounds like fun...better than painting the bathroom which is what I'll be doing....much rather work outside, & I can hear the weeds growing.
Louise, As I thin this jungle in my dad's backyard I'm putting up what appears to be morning primrose with a huge Chinese radish like tap root. Is that the way they grow in Florida? Ric
How is your father doing, Ric??
He's doing well, Thank You. Getting a little stronger each day, and healing so well they had 2 extra doctors look at his progress. They will probably charge for a consultation. LOL I hope he's strong enough to be cleared to drive by the time we go for his follow up with the thoracic surgeon next Wednesday. He is scheduled to be on leave till August 7th and plans to return to work at Home Depot then. I hope his doc give him some restrictions, he's worked the garden patio for 11 years. That's a heavy job to start at 70 and most likely why he's in such good shape for 81. I prefer retirement! Ric
Wow, working still at 81. I hope to be laying on a beach somewhere at that age.
Yep - not for me.
