new thread for system issues

All of the articles are located in the guides and information tab under the banner

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

And you can 'tag' them, too by clicking on the little yellow folder symbol at the top right.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

And you can always click the small manilla envelope at the top right and 'tag' (save) it for yourself. You can add any tag keywords you want for it or just copy the article title. You can set it public so others can see the tags or private just for yourself. To see your tags, look under your info tab where you can see the entire list of tags you have made.

Whoops, what she said above LOL, kept my post window open too long!

Wow, Thanks guys!!
I'm learning, but there's still so much I don't know. I've seen the manilla envelope, but was never really sure what to do with it.

I am having trouble uploading pictures, last night and today too--it will let me do a few and then it will not take any more pictures--it will let me add a text--but nothing with a picture in it.

Are you repeating your text word for word? I think that you have to change it up with each post. Sometimes I just add characters if I don't have anything to write like ** or -- but I can't repeat the same thing.

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

If the title of the picture is very similar to one you have already uploaded, it may not let you upload it until/unless you change the title/name. At least that's how it used to work at one time. If you have pictures with names like "My New Picture 1", "My New Picture 2", etc, it may not let you upload the 2nd one because the name is too similar to the 1st one. I think this was done to prevent uploading the same pic multiple times. If the names of the pictures are similar or contain similar words you might want to try changing the names to see if that helps.

I think ours is more conservative - as long as there is *something* different it will let you upload a series like that. Sandra, is this still a problem? (Sorry, I was out of pocket all day Sunday and didn't see this note until now.)

I think I was labeling some as Bed Shots, and that is why--I got them all loaded finally.
I went to the other Terrye's Sat and did a lot of pictures at her place, they are posted on Mid south if you have time to take a peek.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

will do - thanks!

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

I've been trying for about 15min now to make a post (w/pic). The original pic was 14M. I clicked 'Preview'. After 'loading' for a long time, I am redirected to the 'Communities' page (the list) when the load times out: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/
I tried this 3 times and got the same results each time.

I tried renaming the pic. That didn't change the effect.

Then I tried downsizing the pic to 14K. That worked. I got the preview, but canceled the post as the pic was too small.

Then I tried the pic at 670K. Again, after waiting for a few minutes, I was redirected to the communities page. I tried a 2nd time and was FINALLY able to post the pic.

testing a 2.77 mb picture

I don't know - it uploaded in under 9 seconds (to preview) and submitted from there in maybe 2 seconds?

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

I, too, have posted a number of pics since that episode, and before. I don't normally have a problem posting pics, and many times they go through quite rapidly, but for that 15min period, I was unable to post a pic. I'm just reporting what happened. As I'm sure you must know, many times the most insidious software problems don't show up consistently, but that doesn't mean they aren't there.

Thanks. I'll do that.

:o)

What happened to the search feature in my journal? (doesn't work) I am lost without it.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

i just tested mine with a simple word search and it pulled up all the entries for "tomato" without a problem.

The same search worked for me today, so all is well.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Is the edit feature gone for good? I miss it tremendously, as I always make mistakes that I need to edited. Please return the feature if at all possible ASAP. I understood it was a problem recently when people were trying to remove all their old posts, but I hope that hoopla is now over. Patti

Cochise, AZ(Zone 8b)

I still have the edit feature on posts that I have made?

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

I just used the edit feature [to edit and correct a post] within the last hour. It seems to be working fine.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I only have quote, no edit below the Post #. Strange. Patti

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Dumb question here but I have to ask... are you logged in? I know you probably couldn't access this thread if you weren't but that is what it sounds like...

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Yes, but I am going to log out and log back in to see if it returns. That is probably dumb. But dumb sometimes works. Also waving hands and stomping feet. Patti

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

That worked!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant. Totally weird. I never log out and was in the coop forum placing an order when I noticed it was gone. Life is good. Patti

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

Good thing you remembered your password! ;-)

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I have had the same password since the mid 80's so it is hard to forget. I use a variation of it when a longer password is required, other than that it is the same. My eBay account got hacked once, but I figure changing my password all the time is worthless and frustrating. No money was lost. Patti

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Doesn;t make sense but I am glad that worked.

June_nmexico ~ I know it is my antiquated computer/phone service but I have had spells of being logged out on DG frequently. For me, that makes it easy to reinforce my password by repetition in my tiny memory bank. LOL

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

First blessed one of these in a while. 6:31 p.m. (just now)

Quoting:
Database error: connect to host davesgardendbhost1 failed
MySQL Error: ()

Session halted.

I got it while navigating from a thread in the Vegetable forum to the Home page...

Has DG been operating slower than normal?

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'm getting it about every other click in PlantFiles also

If this gets posted twice, it's because I got the error after I hit send the first time, backed up and am trying again. I don't know if it sent the first time.

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

I am getting it while trying to post in Daylily forum.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Getting the same error message earlier when trying to access the bugfiles database.

Again just now trying to pull up a picture on the id thread.

Database error: connect to host davesgardendbhost1 failed
MySQL Error: ()

Session halted.

Sorry - I was out of pocket during the time y'all were reporting this. Are you still getting errors? (I'm able to get in and around PlantFiles easily.)

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Have gotten the same message about every other time I went back to a new thread. About half an hour ago or so. Doesn't seem to be happening now.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

I only got that one message but haven't been on much since then...

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Have just had the weirdest thing happen. I wrote a post to a thread (http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1112536/) and sent it, and it didn't post! It would have been instead of the last post I made. This is the second time this has happened in the last couple of days. I discounted the first one as operator error even though I KNOW I wrote and posted it properly. I should have at least made notes the first time it happened.

I'm now going to copy my posts before I send them and double check my posts right after I send them until I figure out what the problem is.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

faeden, is this your post? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7936819

Billerica, MA(Zone 6a)

Don't know if this has been brought up by anyone as I didn't read every post prior to this, but for the past couple of weeks, more or less, it takes a lot longer to preview a pic in a post I'm creating. It now takes 10-15 seconds to load when previously, it took 3-5 seconds. Any others bringing up this issue, or is it me? Don't have any issues like this on any other site, but then again, don't do it on hardly any other site.
