Thank you Luvs!

Chris, I've pulled my thoughts back in and decided you are just fine :o)

No news is good news :o)

Have a quiet evening!

We are heading back to the beach again I know how much you liked going there. Ric took this pic and I thought I would send you this beautiful sunset. Enjoy the beauty of the earth and the world around you. Rest, gain strength and may the sun shine bright and beautiful for you again tomorrow.
I too have been thinking that no news is good news.

Oh my gosh! That's the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen!

I echo the beautiful sentiment too. Not becuse I'm too lazy to think of my own, but because I can't top it :o)

Chris, it's been apple picking time, but the pickings are slim. Even at the apple orchard, the apples were rotting on the trees. I did get a pie made and DH is drooling over the apple crisp to come. I won't make it till we get over our colds. Feed a cold, but don't give it sugar!!

Hope you are feeling good!

Cyber pie never gets completely eaten. There's enough for everyone :o)

Good Morning Chris, it's chilly with a chance of rain and it's going to be cold all day. DGS is having his B'day party today. He turned 4 yesterday. At least the rain we are getting has brought my grass back. I'm not mowing as many weeds as I was. We have got to get a pre-emergent down next spring!

Have a happy day, but don't sit down yet :o)

Hi Chris!

It's a cold gloomy morning and it rained ALL day yesterday. It looks like a nice peaceful day in the house. I have garden journals to catch up on and paper piles to sort thru. Yes, it's a good day to be in.

Billy, you are a marvel of dedication! SallyG will be sending a note to Chris & Paul today to see if we can get some information on our dear buddy. Let's all hope that we get a response. Not a day goes by that Chris is not in our thoughts and prayers. We surely do miss her.

Just checking in from sunny Fl. Chris how about a lovely Fl. garden? This is an Ornamental Pepper I picked up a pack of seeds. Maybe you would like to try and start some this spring?
Thanks Sally for checking.

Holly, the pepper is really pretty!

Yes, Sallyg, thanks! I'm not a card or phone person, so it doesn't occur to me to do these things.

Chris, I hope you're warmer than I am at the moment. I'm waiting for the sun and warm breezes so I can gather heat. 50° mornings are pretty cool!

Take care!

Stormy is doing a fantastic job 'over there.' Every forum of this type on the web have slightly different formats. It really isn't that difficult.

Good Morning Chris. Is it raining where you are, we are under a flood watch and tornado watch. I'm glad I don't have a window to watch the rain, would just make me want to sleep. When all this weather gets out of here the weekend should be nice, at least that is what "they" say. lol

Benny is willing to come cheer you up.

Crazy weather here Chris, how 'bout out there?

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi Chris, It has been pouring all day down here... we had over 3" of rain by early afternoon, and it's been too wet for me to go outside to check the rain gauge since then!

It's been a good day to cuddle up with a cup of tea and a good book (or listen to some nice music) and I hope you were able to do just that, my friend.

Here's a photo taken a few years ago (it's not so pretty this year), at a lake near my house, as the leaves began to turn. Put yourself right on one of those barges and just float away...

Sending love and hugs, and prayers your way tonight, as always.......Barb

those are beautiful Carolyn... have to plant mine in the ground next year.. didn't do so well in containers

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Chris, It's been busy busy busy! We put in a new kitchen floor the other day and I am enjoying it.

I also found four Monarch chrysalis's at my neighbors. I have been watering for her since last Wednesday, till this Wednesday. It finally got nice enough to work outside, so I've been digging tulip bulbs that were planted all around the garden edge as a last resort last year, and finding places for them. I have just two varieties left, I think. The magic marker on the utility flags managed to fade or get washed away this summer. I had them numbered as they bloomed.

I need to dig three large rhubarb crowns for my SIL and take them down to her. I also started turning some of the South Peony under so I can see where I might have planting room. The dang dirt is so compacted from the summer rains that it's hard to turn without getting huge clumps on either side of the shovel.

Every day the walnut tree drops it's nuts and magically fills itself again. I don't think it will ever be empty!!

I hope you aren't this crazy busy! I don't really feel like I've accomplished anything yet. Sit back and get some warm sun on your face for me :o)

First, my lovely floor!

LOL on the Mosquito. Floor looks great. We are still traveling in Duck N.C. this week the weather was cold and gloomy the first day but has been getting nicer and nicer. The air temps are cool but the sun is warm and bright.
Chris, Hope your day is warm and bright, too.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Holly, he was a fresh mosquito too :o)

Traveling sounds good, but I am also enjoying the digging and moving I've been doing here. I'm also working on getting my garden notes in order. One is ''Things I've Done,'' then "Things I Need To Do," "What's Planted Where, " and "What Color Combinations Work." All mixed up in a lot of pages of notes.

Chris, I hope the no-see-ums haven't found you. They are impossible to ignore here!

Have a blessed day all!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Chris, I'm sending you the first Delphinium that I ever grew from Seed. It's called Pagan Purple and it's actually blooming right now. Hope you've been getting some of the blessed rain that we've been enjoying and that you were able to get out & enjoy these few beautiful days that we had. We are always thinking of you and trust that you are spending your time well. Take care, Storm.

Morning Chris, We are home again the traveling is also finished. So good to be back home I only have one more trip that will be my Dive Trip. Boy the work has stacked up here while we were gone. So much to do. Today we are taking my parents North for a drive to see the leaves. I would think you would have a beautiful Fall Leaf Show going on at your place about now.
Stormy, Is that one of my seeds?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hey Chris, Did you have any frost yet??? It's been warm here, I actually had the a/c on yesterday.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

No Holly. I had purchased them from T & M.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Oh my gosh, behind again! Our weather couldn't be better if you ignore the bugs.

I had wild garlic infesting my meadow buttercup, penstemon, border iris and large iris. I dug down below the garlic bulb, seperated the flowers and had to just dump the dirt across the road to make sure I didn't replant it. I am almost out of compost, but I got the long hole filled in. I could kick myself for NOT getting a picture, before and after!!

In spite of it all, I re-planted almost everything and found places for the extras. I'm working on three beds at once and do a bit on each every day. I mixed a lot of wheelbarrow's of dirt from the planting holes, with compost, peat and lime. I also turned manure under in the garden. That was ''the camel that walked on my back and almost put it out.'' I came in and took an aspirin and walked carefully till I felt it working. By out, I mean pulling the muscle so you either can't sit, or stand. For me it was sitting.

So, aspirin every day, stirring up a witches brew of dirt with a shovel. I'm in a pretty good place right now. I'm cramming a summer into two weeks of good weather!

I hope you are off doing as you please!

We did take one day off and took the Grandkids to Wild Cat Den State Park, about a half hour from here. It was a good day!

The oldest is in that ''don't want my picture taken'' mood. Here's me and the youngest.

Hi Chris,

The weather here has been so beautiful, seems a shame to be praying for some rain, but we are down several inches. I'm going out to water a couple of trees today. They were installed last December and it was difficult maintaining them waterwise through the hot dry summer. The new ones don't seem to have nearly as many leaves as more mature trees that were on their own during the drought, but perhaps if we keep watering them, they will be heartier next year. It looks like you've been getting much more rain up your way. Hugs to you.

Holly, glad you're home, but as you said, being away means lots of catch up.

Billy, I know what you mean about teenagers and having their pictures taken, and if you can geet them in the picture, they always have that 'if I had my way I'd be home in my room' look on them. Actually, the same thing happens when you get my age and every picture of you is with your eyes closed, or your mouth open, or looking surprised, or something cringeworthy.

Be well all.

Pam

.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Pam, oh dear, and he's only six. You mean it gets worse? LOL!

ROTFL!!! I have to stage my pictures for that reason. Trouble is, that's reality!

Chris, I hope you're feeling good and are having nice relaxing days!

I've moved about 70 plants around over the last few weeks. I couldn't believe it was so many, but I kept track and transfered my notes to a task sheet. Yep. I moved a lot! They also got tags since some were missing or so old they broke.

I mixed wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of:
My compost, dirt taken from the planting holes, peat moss and lime. I have three buckets of mixed dirt left to slowly use with new planting hole dirt. I can't believe how compacted the ground is after all the summer rains. We had some real pounders.

I most likely won't have time to lift all the Astilbe and put better dirt in their spots. That was big on my list, but too big a job right now. I had many little jobs that were more important.

I moved a few of the rescue Iris and found my favorite had rot! I cut it off and soaked them in clorox water. They look fine and I replanted. Next year ALL the iris will need to be divided!

Then, there was the watering of all the new moves.

Yes, I have kept myself busy :o)

BIG HUGS wherever you are!

Central, VA(Zone 7b)

Billy,

I can't believe your energy level. I keep thinking maybe tomorrow I'll get to that corner in the garage with all the pots that need cleaning. We got that rain overnight that was so badly needed, with nary a bluster of wind nor a crack of thunder. Thank you, Lord. Bulbs from the coop should arrive in the next day or so and maybe the earth will be a little easier to plant.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Pam, I found out I am hypothyroid. I thought my ''sit back and smell the coffee'' came with old age. I now have my old energy back. I used to work outside all day, until dark, in the summer and wish I had more time. That was when I smoked too!

It helps to enjoy your chores too :o)

Yesterday, I cut back seed heads. I think the country has enough seeds to fill the birds up. I have a 50# bag of sunflower seeds in the garage and we need to get a metal can to store it in. I've seen two dead mice, outside, so now that the fields are picked, they are looking for new apartments.

I've stripped the garden of all but the cabbages. Sauerkraut is in the plans this week.

Chris ~ to you wherever you are!

Near Lake Erie, NW, PA(Zone 5a)

It's me. Hi everyone! Sorry I have been away from DG and you all for these many months. I guess I needed to get things sorted out in my head a bit and settle down.
I am feeling better just not like I use to. There has been 2 medicine changes since I last talked to you all and the liver is not responding well, I just started the new medicine so Dr. is waiting till January to see if it is working, if not, I expect to be back on chemo. I will be having blood work done every month till then just in case we need to act sooner.
This summer I had a lot to deal with, not just with health but had to make some financial decisions. I was sort of a workaholic so cutting back to 2 days a week was a difficult step.
My garden was a big flop this year, I had to leave the weeds take over and only got a handful of my basement plants planted. Between the heat of the summer and allergies, which were never an issue before, I had to stay indoors most of the time. I did not pick up the camera all summer.
I want to thank you all for the phone calls, (I was out of the house and missed them, and the answering maching messed up a few times) and the cards.
I have a lot of catching up to do here on DG so I'll be popping up here and there.
Love to you all.
Chris

Odenton, MD(Zone 7b)

My goodness, it is SO good to hear from you, we have been missing you and hoping you were doing ok. Glad to know you will be popping in more often.
As far as your garden, I think alot of folks had issues with their gardens this summer.
Glad you are back ;)
