Hanging in there. Part 3

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

OMG! Chris!!! I can't tell you how good it is to see your post here this morning. You've been in my thoughts and prayers every day.

My garden was pretty much of a flop this summer, too... not to worry, there's always next year!

*gentle hugs*

ladygardener, it is hard to change, but positive change can be the first step to better things.

I can sympathize with the frustrations in changing medicine. I keep outliving my doctors and having to start again with new ones. My endocrinologist had died, my gp was following up for a while, but eventually I started with a new endocrinologist. She made a huge change in my medicine. When changing thyroid medicine, you have to wait a month between changes for it to stabilize. In short, it has been a rocky couple of months and I am still adjusting levels. I tell myself, this isn't chemo, I am regulating a controllable condition.

You are dealing with a more serious illness, I know, I just wanted to convey my sympathy and send you my best wishes. You will probably start feeling better when You find a better balance of medicines. A less stressful work schedule may also help. You'll have more time to cook healthier meals and get adequate rest.

Chris, Chris, Chris We are so happy to hear your lovely voice, even if it isn't audible. LOL You've brought great joy to us just with your "hello". No apologies are needed, just take your time reading and catching up. We will all be here to chat for however much you feel like posting. If you don't feel up to much posting, we will continue to chat with you anyway!! You are well loved my dear lady and the Mid Atlantic Group is very blessed to have you and Jill both posting among us through such tremendous difficulty.

We've all had terrible gardens this year. Here's my attempt at your famous Irish soda Bread. LOL It tasted a lot better than it looked!!

It will take a while to catch up on the posts there are so many.
I have started reading books again and signed up with Netflix, I can watch movies through my Wii to the TV. I love the British comedies.
Also cooking and baking. I try to not start anything that will take a lot of time to make standing at the stove for long periods is very hard so I avoid that. Stormy, that's the way the soda bread should look very rustic. I've been thinking about making it again, it is so good.
GQ, " I keep outliving my doctors and having to start again with new ones." I don't know why, but that struck me as funny when I first read that sentence. My doctor is married to a minister and he gets transfered from time to time. If she moves futher away I will not be able to follow. It takes over an hour to get to her office and living in the snow belt it is very hard in winter.
Jill, I need to catch up with you. Hope everything is well with you.
Catb, will try to catch up on the garden news, I think I would have had a better garden this year if things got planted. What I did get into the ground did well.

Great to see you!

It is funny in a dark kind of way. I was complaining to the bf, but he told me that it beats the alternative. True.

Chris, I'm so glad you're back! I can see why you didn't feel like being here. That is a lot of depressing new things to be happening. There are times when a person has to retreat into themselves. I can only hope our prayers helped a little.

After being on forums with others who have gone thru their own troubles, I can better understand your's. I say special prayers for you and them.

My garden was a disaster. We had great rains all summer. Just not enough sunshine.

GardenQuilts, I too, am on my third adjustment of thyroid medicine and I'm almost happy to have a reason for what I thought was inevitable middle age weight gain :o)

I should have just waited and dittoed you Stormyla. I'll bet the bread was good!

Chris, I for the most part babbled on about the yard and garden for months. Don't worry about catching up to me, LOL!.

GardenQuilts, I got a smile over you outliving them too. Some doctors and nurses do smoke and drink, so it's no wonder. Keep up your healthy lifestyle!

Today it's cool and windy. I put the watering cans and all but 1 birdbath away this morning. DH drained the pitcher pump and I have most of my flowers cur back. I guess I'm ready for winter.

Prayers and hugs continuing!

Sorry to hear you have had such long, hard summer. It is just nice to see you back.

Hey Chris! I was thinking about you extra just yesterday. THose Melamodium did well for me that you gave me seeds to. And I knew you said the seeds were easy to collect. Just yesterday I figured out how to tell the flowers were past theirpeak and could be pulled for seed. So, hey, glad you're back!

Chris, I've been saving a picture for you. We took the grandkids to Wild Cat Den State Park, a half hour from here. I went when I was a teen and we took DD when she was little. It has natural water run-off areas and I saw this guy. He might even be endangered for all I know.

Chris,

I am glad to see you post......Not following all the Threads--I did not know what had happened to you.
Sorry about my short-comings on this.

I am glad you are up to posting again and, maybe doing a tiny bit of gardening...
This Summer was rough on gardens for all of us....all that 100*-plus heat and all that dryness.
My water bill was way high! But--my plants are worth it! So is my lawn...

I look forward to seeing your Posts--whenever you feel up to it.

Welcome back! Gita

Here is a late bloom flush from my new Dr. Seuss Brugmansia.
Somehow--night pictures add so much depth to the colors....
And the fragrance of this one would blow you away!

Chris! It's so good to hear from you! I biked by your house several times over the summer hoping to catch you sitting out but never did. I would have knocked, but didn't want to intrude. It's nice to have you back!

Sally, I was wondering how the Mels did for you. I posted pictures of the seeds and the spent flower heads in plantfiles last year. They are one of the cleanest seeds to collect.
Billy, looks like a common frog, but frogs are sensitive to their enviorment, you often find mutations if the water and streams are contamininated. I have a one eyed frog this year that migrated to my watergarden, can't tell if was an accident. Well he found a safe place to live, and he goes with my one eyed dog. LOL
Gita, that Burg is lovely, I had 2 putting on a show this year, they are still blooming but one is in the basement and the other is on it's way down there, waiting for the soil to dry out a little so the pot is not to heavy.
Early, I was not out side much, don't be afraid to knock it just takes a while to get the dogs settled down and into another room, I usually step outside when I have visitors if the weather is nice. I noticed a lot of bikers on 20 going into Conneaut and wondered if you were with them.

Hi Chris !

Thanks for the warm welcome on the other thread.

I have two requests:

1st: Please post frequently .... even if it is just one word like BOO or GULP
2nd Please start a new HANGING IN THERE THREAD .... I kept getting error messages in trying to access this one.

I do think it would help others if you discuss you progress. Six years ago I had to take a Family Medical Leave of Absence to be with my older daughter in North Carolina who had cancer at the base of her tongue. She found support via the internet from others who had been plague with the same. I, on the other hand, was not able to find a support network for being her primary care person.

I am please to say that she is presently cancer free.

{{{{Chris!!}}}} I've been MIA from DG all summer too but kept checking in here to see if you had been posting. What a wonderful treat to check in this morning and find your posts! :))) Everyone's gardens have been the pits this summer with the unbearable heat and the lack of rain so you're not alone. Now that you're 'back' I'm going to have to check in more often - Welcome back!
