pretty!!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Yes, she is beautiful the way she is!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Evening! Thanks to everyone who gave me such lovely comments on my photos. I worked today, then when I got home I staked up some TBI and helped some clems climb a little better. Chores in the garden never end. Whenever I have a free moment I do what I can. It was cold this evening!

Cousin Nut, yes, the iris look fantabulous with their new foliage. I have that donkey tail spurge, too, and it seeds in here and there. I really like it, though it gets rather rangy looking. Neato shot of the elderberry! Pretty hyacinths. Things are late out your way and about 2 weeks early here. All messed up! Don't give up on your hellebore! They look crappy at the end of the winter, but then they send up new foliage. I always cut the old foliage off before it blooms. Looks so much nicer that way. Oh, I understand about leaving the old foliage on the DL's. I often leave the fall leaf litter on the beds all winter, then rake off in March or so, whenever signs of spring appear. Have fun on your trip to the northwest. Sounds fun!

That is one huge rose, Jen! I have no roses blooming yet, but I see signs of buds.

Ooooohhhh!!!!!! Wish there was an iris nursery like that around here, JoAnne. Love that purple on in the right hand bottom corner.

Allison, your creeping phlox are so pretty! I don't seem to have good luck with it. That soapwort is really nice, too. I've never grown it. Are those verbascums, the phoenecium hybrids? I grew them from seed last year, too, but never got them planted in the garden. They overwintered in the pot, so now I have to find a home for them. I'm so happy I didn't lose them. Yucky bugs!!!! I always thought aphids were green. Fortunately they're easy to kill.

I like the color on Red Baron better than Bloodgood. Love the foliage on that Gold Star kousa. I need to get myself some variegated dogwoods. Bill, your lawn looks too perfect. Do you have Trugreen do it for you? LOL!

Very pretty clem, Grammy!

Here are more shots form yesterday. Didn't get any today. A long shot of my Septic Tank Rock Garden.

My late mother's memorial plaque with a wooden tulip I painted for mother's day. This is in the garden where most of her best DL hybrid crosses are, many which I will eventually register.

Close up on a TBI. Or maybe it's one of the intermediate ones. It's a short TBI, if that's what it is, but not short enough to be dwarf.

that saliva bloom is neat

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks! My sister Wanda in TX made it. She works at a store that sells plaques, trophies and such, and she does the engraving and design work.

I love verbascums. Thanks for the link. I bookmarked it. I grew that Banana Custard from seed last year, and I had 2 good ones that I planted last fall, and they both returned. Hopefully I'll see them bloom this year. Too bad they're biennial. I'll have to get more seeds so I'll keep getting more blooming each year.

Another shot of that iris.

Yeah, salvia blooms are really interesting when you take a close look at them. I think many people often don't look that close.

Great shots, Bill, Karen and Grammy!

Weeze - the only way to keep the lawn like that is with chemicals. Organic lawns look like crap.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Here's that salvia backlit. This is the earliest of my salvias too bloom.

i only do one fertilize app in the spring for dandelions and keep the mower at the highest level - do not think that qualifies as "chemicals"

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

This hellebore is still looking good, even though the flowers have gone by.

Karen

I beg to differ, Bill. Any fertilizer that is not organic is considered chemicals, especially if it has weed killer in it. Oh, well. Victor is right. You can't get a nice lawn like that with organic, cause then you can't get rid of the weeds. You can get green like that with organic, but you can't get rid of the weeds. Bill, that's great that you cut it at the highest level on your mower. My sister likes to keep it short here, though I've told her time and again that it's not healthy for the lawn. Maybe I'll have the Trugreen people come here and tell her all about it. They have an all natural program. Might have them come and help with fertilizer. I might put down BT for the grubs this year.

Karen

Closer look at the hellebore. I don't know the name of this one.

Another shot of it, from down on the ground.

Beg to differ, Bill. Synthetic herbicides (dandelion and other weed killer), as well as non-organic fertilizers count as chemicals! Scotts and other similar stuff are chemicals.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Should add - that's not a criticism, Bill. Everyone is free to do whatever they like. I use chemicals sometimes too - not in the lawn though. Kids' safety.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

give me a break you two!! not like i have chemlawn in here every other week - one application is no big deal
