Plant propagation part XV based on my own experience

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Guess we cross posted. Plantmum6, I was talking about JB's post.

evelyn I am on here to discuss plants not to get involved in legal issues which I have no control over.

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Trifolium repens is a ground cover and hardy from USDA zones 4-8

I tried setting up a link, but it did not work...if you google this plant and click on the link to gardening.com it will give you more details.

I will try it again, but if it does not work, gardening.com has the info on this plant

http://gardening.about.com/od/gardendesign/ig.Plants-to-Walk-On/Trifolium-repens-Atropurpureum.htm

The boycott is in about one hour.

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

OK, I understand.

There is an entry in the plantfiles that describes this plant:

Humpf.............Jnette is just jealous I get more done before she gets out of bed. Love you Jnette. Where is Dave? I am going to tell him how you abuse me when he is napping.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Howdy:
i agree that the site is for gardening and plants. I will hate it if they pull the plug but over all I do like the site and it does a lot for me. I apreciate the plant data base as well as market place.
Evelyn are you doing any cuttings of moonlight??? I would love to give it a try and see if its something i can add to my mix.
I also love the pics. i have never tried anemones but they look great.
Boy my DL's are going nuts this year. the flowers are just about out on everyone. pic tomorrow.
sorry for the silence I have family in town today and tomorrow.
Dave

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Dave, Jnette is picking on me. But I think I started it.....anyhow, she is. Go back to your family, we are going to have some fun without you. But you will be missed. Smooch!

Also, Am I confused (more than usual) but they are not going to shut down DavesGarden, they are shutting down Cubits. Which one are you talking about Dave?
I am not interested in getting involved in politics on DG. I am sure there were agreements when it was sold and that is really none of our business. My concern would be loosing all of you if they close DG. Which I never heard was going to happen.
Is that really a posssibility?

Whatever will be will be. I need to get ready for bed. Hey, Jnette, I just put a bug on the list and I will hear everything you say about me. Ya Ya Ya. Love you. Nite to all.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

JB you are going to be so tired in the morning from listening to that bug all night, worried that you are going to miss out on something we are discussing (you) that you might as well stay up and join in. Guess we can all talk about Dave if he isn't going to be on here.

You all need to pay attention or read a little better. Our new owner of this site is going to sue Dave if he doesn't close cubits.org down by Friday. Some agreement they claim they got from the previous owner who originally purchased DG from Dave. The agreement was a "no cometition" agreement. Stating, I would imagine, that Dave agreed to not start up any competitive site. Like cubits.

Now, I don't know how long someone can own your soul. Seems to me there must have been a length of time in the agreement.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Howdy:
I don't know whats going on or whats suposed to be. I know when a company sells there is a non compeat clause in the contract. it can be 2 years or 10 but there is a limit of time unless they forgot to put one in and then the new owners don't have any standing. I doubt they would buy with out any legal advice.
I don't keep up with who owns this site. its great and I hope it goes for ever but when people start stirring crap up saying they are not going to renew or have a show of suport its upto each person to say yes, no or I don't care what the politics are. dave built a great site and I love it I don't see anything wrong with the way it run. I truely don't know anything about the future of the site but I would hope and do believe they will grow it and improve it as time goes on. Ok steping down off my soap box.
anyhoo sweet dreams all I will be back on tomorrow. but not satuday or sunday (maybe late sunday)
Dave

Since you all are AOL, I will go to bed and hope you are all safe and sound getting ready for a long weekend. God Bless you all. Nite.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Have a great weekend.
niece friend

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Hey JB, wake up!! ~~~~~ I'm shaking you. LOL. The only one that looks like a shake. I've been gone all day and then Bob got a movie from netflix in the mail so have been watching it. These people mumble and I can't hear them. What is wrong with the movies they make today??? LOL, maybe I need to see (hear) an ENT dr.

Hell, here's the end of the movie and Bob had to tell me all the way thru what it was about. No, those things you get on TV for $20 don't work. I tried them and it worked for about 10 minutes and the battery was gone. Don't waste your money. Been there done that.

Guess it's time to go to bed. TTYT, Jeanette

Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

I was gone all day taking Mother to visit her friend in Sioux City. But hey JB, looks like you found an awesome coffee date!! What's his name? Must be in the military, judging from the gold bars on his shoulders! Clearly a writer, too! :-)

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Stop shaking me, I am awake, not to perky today. Tired, sleepy and it is raining.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

How come that picture wasn't on my computer last night? That was some coffee pal. I like avianut's description of him. Did she come close? LOL, pretty nice and entertaining aren't they? Problem is they live longer than we do don't they?

It is raining here too. Just like this whole month! And now our weatherman tells us that the month of June normally rains more than Sept. and Oct. put together. So, how does that sound? Like crap!!

I have one more week and my daughter and sil are coming for a week or so. So now I have to clean house! Might as well. Problem is the grass and weeds are going to be taller than the house.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Having computer problems, or internet problems. I am typing and nothing comes up until I have typed three words or so. I have started this twice now and the first time it disappeared. I was saying it is nice your family is coming to visit.
Have you seen the discussion about Cubits? This is really getting out of hand. Why can't everyone just stay out of the business end of it and get on with their lives. It is really none of our affair. I noticed it this morning on the DG Forum, thousands ofhits and nasty comments about prayers being taken off...I never saw any prayers. Must be on other forums. I want to show you what is happening to my Aimee. I have no idea why and I am looking for answers everyplace I know. It looks like burn. What do you think?

Thumbnail by JBerger
Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Did you get that picture of Aimee Jnette?

Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

That does look like burn... I've had similar problems on plants this spring, but we (here in NE) had a really cool, long, spring, where the plants leafed out, but the trees were a bit behind. So, I figured, the plants got burned because the trees weren't leafed out yet. Humm.. don't know for sure...
Hey, JB, let me share a fun pic of my new baby- I know you'll appreciate!! :-)

Thumbnail by avianut
Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Yes, I got the picture and that is terrible. I wonder what it is. Are they all doing that? Let me see if I can do some research on it and get back to you.

Yes, I have seen those things on cubits. I am sorry that they are having their problems, but they are not mine and I have no control over them anyway. Yes, these people need to mind their own business or just quit the site if they don't like it.

I have had that problem myself JB, where the whole thing I was typing disappears. Here is a trick you might try when that happens. Before you touch another key, click on the "undo" key. The little circle arrow on the tool bar. Usually that will work. If not, sometimes the back key will work. But I think the undo key does it better.

Sorry, I was about to send this when my sister called so had to chat with her a bit. But, also sent her the picture of Aimee and asked her what was wrong with it. We'll see.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Adorable baby Avian. I love birds but my h said they are so needy and loud for him, that he would not want one, though he would be attached if he had one. We just got back from a great time in Tahoe, but the message on the machine was of one of our dogs incessantly barking at 7:45 pm last night. URRRR! Don't know what we can do, but we better think of something, since she does it when we are gone apparently.
Evelyn we loved the snow Thursday and it started to really get going right when we first got to the Squaw Creek Resort, yet it did not mess us up in any way since it stopped in the night and the roads to S. Lake Tahoe were almost all open and clear. Yesterday was all sunny.

Black Pussy Willows sound cook, I love different plants.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

We cross posted avianut. That baby is cute.

That might be right, but if it is a burn wouldn't it be from fertilizer? JB, did you use a strong fertilizer on it?

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Honestly people who love Dave are going to be kicked off and know it, I am sure, from what I see, that they are choosing it out of a type of loyalty to them.

He should not have sold in the first place. It will work out but maybe not for the company here or a lot of the members at this time. As you say, it is not really our business since it is a business issue, however, Dave was our friend and many know him personally. I met him at the RU here and he was a nice and humble, Godly man.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Sorry Dawn, I don't know what you are talking about.

I heard it was settled.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

That would be nice, several friends of mine have been Missing for a while.
NEXT! Moving right along on topic...

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

JB, where did you go? You must go to bed with the chickens. And then you wait to see what we are talking about. LOL

What are you all doing this weekend? Anything exciting? Dawn, what did you do in Tahoe? I don't understand about the dog on the answering machine?? Was that your dog answering it? Must be a pretty smart dog. What kind is it?

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

So Dawn, send them Dmails.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well guys, I am back. DH is out of hospital, dehydration and my shoulder is better, fell down.

The problem between Dave and Cubits is Daves and IBs. I just want to talk to my gardening friends. I read for about 30 minutes this morning while I was trying to wake up. My opinion, to much personal anger, and no one really knows what is going on. I just want to talk about our aches and pains and the weather. I have discovered this gardening season that I am have gotten old. I did not think it would happen. I can still work almost any individual into the ground but my personal best is not available for me. The Asthma has put me back but I am getting better. But I still kick butt with anyone within 10 miles. LOL.

Son Todd, Baby Luke and family are moving to Spokane on June 15th. Jnette, I think I will be seeing you soon. The little plant is doing well and just sitting there but we know how that goes.

I have black bamboo that has been sitting there for three years in my holding garden. Well this is the third year. I am going to transplant to a cement enclosed in area or a very large pot. . Anyone want some starts. Postage is all that is required. I think I have about 5 starts. I have never dug up and separated but I think I am close. They should be rooted. D mail me.

Well last week we had snow in the mountains, 42 at night and Thursday we will be 100 degrees. Welcome to our weird weather. Last night we had a hurricane come through the canyon and blew anything not nailed down across the garden. Thank you that I have all my plants planted in a protected area from the "high" winds. Have a great day tomorrow. I will check in tomorrow afternoon. I am not boycotting. Love you all.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Can't any longer Janette, from what I hear.

Anyways, what I meant is that my dog apparently barks when we are gone and my neighbors wanted to share the proof with us. I don't know if we need a bark/shock collar or what. Frustrating though.

It was our Anniversary so we went to a nice resort one day and went to the South Lake Tahoe, casino part, yesterday morning and left today, got back at 2:00 with my old lady dog in tow, that we boarded at a Kennel. I guess we should have sent the other two as well. Ho HUM!

What did you do this week end mam?

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I am not boycotting, but will decide whether to renew. I love the people here, who still post with me. I would love a plug of black bamboo. If you can grow it, so can I. Sounds good, in it's own self contained boundaries.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Hellnzn11, do not leave. When they all leave there will be us gardeners left. That is what we want to discuss. Right. Have a great morning tomorrow..

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Yep!

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Is that a "What Ever" or a Yes?

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

In the end IB and Dave will be satisfied but all the people like yourself Dawn will be upset and have their lives disrupted. Even tho it is just the communication part of your hobby it still changes your lives in a small way.

Don't take anyone's word for it, go ahead and Dmail them.

I have been neighbors to someone with a dog like yours. The people didn't know the dog did that either and would not believe it. So, what are you going to do about it? I hate to see you put one of those collars. I understand they don't work and just traumatize the poor dog. I think the best thing to do is put the dog in a kennel.

Or does the dog do that when you go to the corner store etc? Short trips take it with you.

I was agreeing. I am confused Janette. What will disrupt my life? If I don't renew? or what..?

We are so cryptic now that I am lost myself. I am fine and will probably stay on DG since I find the other one is about so many things and it is confusing to me at this point. DG is simple to use and figure out, for a new user, like I once was about 4 yrs ago.

Too much good still here, though slow lately. I am not involved in the business crud here but I do love Dave himself. I agree with his morals and ideas and thought him a genius of sorts, with a kind heart. He got too big for his family's needs and sold. His right. He did not foresee this stuff and has had some regrets but anyhow, he is a business man now, whether he likes it or not, so he will do what he needs to do to keep rolling along, as will this company.

I met Michael and his wife and they did not have horns or anything like that. He is not really one with a lot of gardening history so much, in business, but has a lot of experience in these types of similar sites. Don't think they had encountered someone like Dave before. Who's site was his child, one that many, many other sites wished to emulate.

As Janette said, "They will work it all out if it is not all worked out already". I am coming home from my trip and seeing all this stuff and hearing all this drama. It is a shock. Guess my friends are still here too, just laying low.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Well, have a nightcap with me and tomorrow will look better.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Amen to that.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

I spent some time this morning reading the posts on DavesGarden and it seems to me the people writing some of these comments have not been involved in many business transactions i.e. selling and buying corporations, businesses.., etc. or they would not make some of the remarks they are making. You all love Dave. I never met him, I came here to learn and enjoy and ended up selling plants on the MarketPlace. I would no more think of getting involved in a private enterprise such as the sale of this site no matter what. I do however know enough that if a contract exists that says Dave is limited to what type of site he can start was part of the original transaction between the first buyer, then it is still valid because it was no doubt part of the recent transaction. So, no one really knows and should just leave it up to those involved to work it out. In the end, they will all be friends again and alot of people who left here will be out there looking for a new place to play. Just my opinion, now I want to get back to my plants. That is why I am here.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Sounds about right JB.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I agree JB. I would rather worry about your wind and snow storms and your roof still being there.

Just got through the Indianapolis 500 and now DH is remote jumping between 2 base ball games and a NASCAR Race. I would not stay sane if I did not have DG. Love you all.
