I love the shrooms and the gnome! I love gnomes. I only have one in my gardens so far. I need to get more.
Yes, the aliens carrying off the gnome are cute, but too pricey.

Aliens are cute--gnome looks dumb.
Bill needs this http://www.skymall.com/shopping/detail.htm?pid=102036620&c=10511
I don't think that it would be happy during wind storms. Probably will fall over onto jms unless there is a very tough anchor.

there is a nursery in oakland, NJ... they have two topiary forms of giraffes they are pretty cool looking
Ya but wha would build a humongous wall for sure. Still ROLOL ^_^ irisMA you are WAY TOO funny!
Bummer sensical peoples jumped in. I still think WAY too much fun' irisMA ^_^
:)
topiary would be more fun.
Would like a statue for my shade garden, but would be afraid Robs would pee on it.
My caladium are popping the soil surface in the aluminum pans. They've had ideal conditions on the porch. High temps and high humidity thanks to the hot tub.
Would love a hot tub! Need a hot tub! Cannot afford a hot tub!
Hee hee!
Finally got around to putting my caladiums in pans, I need more pans though.
I squeezed all of mine into three pans.
could use that hot tub right now Victor... my back & ankles are screaming at me
Yes, I was dragging huge bags of mulch around, & spreading it....but it looks like a hot bathtub instead. Maybe Ben Gay.
Hot tub party??!!
Hope to get our tub up and running this week, had some frozen pipes from a power outage and one temperature probe was damaged. Parts are non existent for my very old Hot Spring Spa so we have to manufacture repair parts. It's very basic, no electronics, no bells or whistles, and extremely efficently insulated and very easy on the electric bill.
I may however add an alarm to prevent further damage. Ric
All this talk of hot tubs makes me wish I was soaking in one now.
Weather was awesome here today. Went to a couple of garden centers. Spent about $110 at one, and about $10 at the other. Got a bunch of annuals and made up containers. Got 9 done. Not finished making containers yet. Will be making several more soon, but I need more plants. Will wait till the end of the month to get more.

I'm still trying to buy an automatic weeder.
I'll bring the beer!!!
If you find one, Lucy, let me know! (My idea of one is about 25 years old, speaks French, is very athletic and she is VERY loyal.)
I think we all could use an automatic weeder.
Make it a monsieur & I'm with the program!
Or a masseur (masseuse)!!
Mmmmmm.
Oh, I could use a good massage after all the work I did today. Last night I started work on cleaning up an old bed that had gotten overgrown with all sorts of things, especially brambles and tradescantia. What a chore! I'm a little more than half finished. Then I have to begin the work of redoing the entire bed. I doubt I'll get all that done this year, but it sure is an improvement already. I have to dig out all that darned tradescantia, not to mention all the quack grass roots and such. Will probably be getting rid of half the DL's in there, too. Something for people to dig at the RU.

Hope to finish the last bit of weeding and mulching in the back yard today. Maybe plant the echies if I can get out there a little longer than usual, if not tomorrow definitely. Debbie's clems are being shipped today so should be here by wednesday. Six more clems to plant then I will be done with planting of perennials for this year. Still have two shrubs to move but that may have to wait for fall. Need to weed half the side path and mulch out front, but I am way ahead of last year and the weeds are much more under control. We lost so much time last year due to the weeks on end of rain. Plants are looking so much happier with some sunny days between the showers and are back to more normal heights.
I have wrestled with tradescantia too Karen and they are tough suckers to get out. Have a couple that will get the ax after they bloom. Sounds like you are moving right along with your clean up and clear out. It is very satisfying to accomplish the renewal of garden areas that have gotten out of control for one reason or other. Good for you, keep up the good work.
Pat, yes, it is very satisfying, I have to admit. This is a garden my mother originally made over 10 years ago. Not sure when she actually put it in, but it was overgrown and weedy when I moved back here in 2002. Every year I kept saying I would get in there and fix it up, but other projects kept getting in the way, and it's such a huge bed that just the thought of tackling it was daunting. I like most tradescantias, but the one that's taken over this bed is a highly invasive one that spread all over through underground runners. It's the one that has the bright purple flowers. I would not wish that one on anyone. The other kinds will stay in a clump, though more clumps pop up here and there from seeds. They're much better behaved.
I still have a lot to plant. I continue buying stuff throughout the season, so I always have stuff to plant. I'm going to put together a few more containers today.

i start the great rock move from our friends house today - need enough for two more walls - although not like the doc wall - these will be 2' or so maybe a bit bigger - only should need the face stone as i should have enough for the inside here.
and the forest pansy will be planted this morning after hiding out under the deck.
YIKES
Oh, wow! Hope he doesn't make a visit when the bluebirds take up residence.

Finally got the gazebo expansion assembled with the help of our oldest son Josh. I started this last year right before I stuck my hand in the table saw. Still to be done are filling and planting the corner beds, mulching, and hang the curtains/screens. Wish the hot tub was done, I could really use it today. LOL Ric
what kind of a snake is that ric? great picture!
i like the gazebo.
Black rat snake?
