Looking great, Karen!
I have plenty of vinca to pick from!
Your project is looking awesome Karen! How's your back feeling?
venu you had me smiling:)
nice progress karen.
Venu, great job, better imagination! karen, for real, really nice plan. Patti
A really fun read venu! Loved the bear.
Karen your wall and plants area is looking good. A lot of work but a nice payoff at the end. Great job!
My project for today since it is a little squishy from all the rain the other day, is to remove the stone border from the circle bed and trench edge it. The stones do a decent job of holding back the lawn but the trimming and maintenance to keep it looking neat is too much work and even then it looks messy too much of the time so out with the rocks. They also provide a home for those tiny ants that seem to live under every rock.
Luv the driftwood venu. Cousin Nut your new area and retaining wall looks totally fabby! WOWSER you have alot of bigun DLs in pots! Whatcha gonna do with the other DLs in the row?
Yes, me too...that drift wood is lovely!
Karen, now i know where you've been! Looks great!!!
Thanks, everyone!
Venu, my back is not too bad, actually. I feel it more in my legs from all the bending down, cause not only did I do that wall (with Dad's and Richard's help, I might add), but I did a lot of weeding, some digging, so a lot of bending over. My lower back feels it a bit, and I've been having a lot of trouble with my right hip, so that's feeling it, too.
I did all the digging out and leveling for the wall about a month back, so yesterday all I really had to do was place the blocks. My Dad picked them up and placed them, and I just made sure they were level and fit right. I don't like how there are gaps where it curves, but I guess there's nothing i can do about that. I will be getting wood chips next weekend, though I'm thinking maybe pea stone gravel instead. Depends on which one is cheaper. Now I have to dig into the hill the make the second tier for the next wall. I then plan to flatten it out on top and make stairs going up to where there will be a garden.
Cousin Nut, all the potted plants I'm selling. Last year I did not sell many at all. I'm hoping to do better this year.
Karen
Looks good, Karen
Weeze, I was very impressed and entertained by all 'your' hard work. ^_^
Karen, great job. It's great to see the before and after transformations.
My project if I choose to do it (sigh) is to keep everything watered. Of course, I choose to do it, but with this wind it is hard to keep up. We need some rain.
Weeze, you can come next week & build a pond here. Karen, the wall looks great....glad Dad was able to help.
I moved a bunch of daffs to that bed, put in snowdrops between them. The butterfly bush will cover them up once it gets to its full size. I couldn't put anything else there, as it would get shaded out by the BB. Then I moved some DL's to this bed and put in couple of new plants.
Karen
Here's a pic showing the new plants, a columbine (on the left behind the DL), a centauria called 'Amethyst Dreams', and a variegated wallflower. This bed is a purple and yellow theme. Still a work in progress. There are some plants down at the other end that don't fit that criteria.
never hide a good stone!!
You weren't sposed to look!
That's a great looking bed....never saw a variegated wallflower, but it's nice.
Superb!!!
Incredulous! What do you call this one wha?
Some folks have no sense of humor.
i call it "doc wall" dnut.
funny marilyn - i was talking with diana at topiary gardens this afternoon and told her the story - she has gotten the same look after planting a large jm for one of her landscape jobs and asks if she can come by and see it now and then:) you do grow attached to your projects
a metorite
Great name wha.
thx leslie:)
Very nice, Bill! (I would have requested moss and lichen.)
me too! there was none to be had on these rocks
my next project is two walls here - the rocks will come from my wife's friends house and i will bring only rock with lichens and handle with care while transporting.
Buttermilk!
there are all sorts different theories on what makes moss and lichens grow faster including urine - time/shade/moisture is the only sure way.
Urine after a few beers works great. ^_^
Wha, That is a Money Wall if they paid you what they should have. But more likely a Notnuffbucks Wall Great job. I want to see what they do around it. Nothing as good as what you would do with it at home. DH did the buttermilk thing, no real difference than without. Keep Victor away from your house, I hear he isn't house broken.
I spent the day organizing where I was going to plant all our new kids and entering them in my journal. We did plant the new Japanese Maple and moved another one, plus some ferns we dug out of the Vt property. No photos today. We are going to harden them off again tonight as it is still cold. I will plant tomorrow if my mind is willing and if the weather is warmer. The last big project here will be to lay down the paths in the veggie garden, put up the trellis and plant it. Patti
