thx folks
Wonderful wall Wha!!!!!! I would ask for visiting rights, too. I'm sure you're gonna miss it.
Patti, where did you get the plugs in the six packs for 3.79? I was asking about that here or on another thread a few days ago. I want to go there. It's in southeastern VT, isn't it?
Allison, I would love moss to grow on my wall block.
Karen
Great wall Bill! When I want moss make a couple of beers flat and put them in the blender with a chunk of moss and make a starter culture. I really like moss on my stone and brick work. My oldest stone wall even has ferms growing in the moss. The spores for those must have blown in from the woods behind the house. Ric
now that you said that Ric I think I saw that on one of the gardening shows... pretty cool
nutsfordaylily, Those 6 pk perennials were bought at Walker's farm on Rt 5/10 west of Brattleboro, but before Putney Vt. Nice small family run place. I love buying them that way. They have good annuals and great veggie starts. Patti
i will have to that ric for future reference - will work with miller lite correct? - that is my wifes current flavor would not think of using my own:)
Nice work Bill!!
I have moss, ferns, ect.....all over the rock walls and forest floors here. I always seem to have it appear in my shade gardens too with out any real effort on my part thank goodness! LOL
Moss & lichens are beautiful on old walls.... I hope those folks know how lucky they are to get such a nice wall....wish I lived closer to Brat, great prices for the plants. I've wanted to try dianthus Coconut Surprise...love lupines, but they don't grow for me.
Robindog, Ha, Lupines, they don't grow for me either, but I keep trying. Dianthus don't do that well for me either in Nantucket as we are too acidic for them, but I keep trying those too. They do well in Vt. I wish more garden shops sold 4 or 6 pks of small perennials. They get them that way from the wholesalers and pot them in bigger pots and start selling them the same day for big bucks. Hate that. Patti
Me too! But all the nurseries around here seem to be doing that.
i have a BIG batch of lupines starting to bloom that i winter sowed last year - it was the only way i could get them to start. did the same with foxgloves, they are planted together.
wow i got foxglove to bloom last year not lupines though - nice!
I am impressed and jealous. Patti
My gosh Patti, another HUGE order? or is that the list from the other thread what was ordered???
Some of it was new as it was what we found at the nurseries last weekend. The Bluestones part was already on order. I had a new bed to plant so I went a tad wild. Strange thing for me. NOT Patti
Love Lupines and Foxglove, we have Lupines returning and Holly just brought me a strawberry Foxglove, the others I had just petered out.
Bill, I would never use a good brew for something like a moss culture or steaming seafood. That would be alcohol abuse. I just stop and grab a couple Old Mils for that purpose, you know the stuff they hose off of the brewery floor.. LOL Ric
Am very jealous of those lupines! Foxgloves grow, no problem....lupines don't like me (:
This nursery sounded interesting,Garden Vision Epimediums, so I emailed them to see when they were open and it appears that they are open for just two weekends a year http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/4408/
The second weekend for this year is this weekend, May 14-17; 10-4pm. It is located at 63 Williamsville Rd. in Hubbardston, MA.
I do like epimediums and the other things that they sell, so I thought I might go this weekend. Patti

Sounds like the plants are super....let us know after you visit, Patti.
They will be. We don't grow them. but know the people who do.
Thanks for the info on Walker Farm, Patti. I've bookmarked them for future reference. Would like to make a trip up there sometime, maybe in June. I've been wanting to get to that epimedium place. Let us know what it's like. I think that's that place that Darrel Probst owns and does his hybridizing at. I have several epimediums and would like to get more.
I've done well with Lupines, but they're short-lived perennials that don't like hot weather. They do better up in Maine and Vermont, maybe NH. Not so well here and further south.
Karen
The Great Wall of Wha looks - well - GREAT!!!
I'm also a lover of moss and lichens. Don't let Michelle near your wall with a power washer, Allison.
What a list of goodies Patti. Your new bed is going to be another beauty. I have planted some lupins too this year, I hope they last a while and bloom. We will see , the last time I tried them they got eaten by some ant-like bugs at the roots. Looking forward to pics of the new arrivals in their new home.

O I have to look some of those up from your list Patti as I'm sure they will need to be on my MUST HAVE list. ps a fall bulbous catalogue arrived and I'm shopping
What fun, Dnut.
dahlianut, Bulbs, did you say Bulbs? I am trying to hold off, but my list keeps growing for next year. I want armies of crocus!
I got most of the new kids planted, but still not feeling up to doing much, so DH took on the task after I had placed the the bunch going into the area we call The Dell with our endless stream. I felt silly pointing at where I wanted them to go. I never wanted to be that kind of a gardener. But it was nice on the back. Patti
he is a good man:)
this fall i plan on an army of allium's to go into one bed.
Oh my more bulbs for you guys. I am still in spring mode so fall bulbs seem very far away. Still have calla lilies to plant.
Every now and then you have to let someone else do the heavy lifting. Nice you have such a good man to help you when needed. Love that frog and gnome over looking the stream.
I like the mushrooms, Patti.
I'm not into gnomes either.
I like those stautues where aliens are carrying off the gnomes, they're FUNNY
edited for grammar

that monster would keep me up at nights! i like the shrooms too.
Cute, but $50?!!!
Pretty funny, but my gnome was only 12.00 and the 3 mushrooms were another 4.70. So those would be pricey aliens. Patti
I know crazy right? Probably find them cheaper somewhere else.
Now that I know from my 'test plantings' of bulbous things in new spots what worked I'm pumping up those patches with more bulbs. HELLO Dutch hyacinths! I want more crocii too! I did have to add 2 things to my 'Plants I Have Luved and Killed' list though this spring :(
