I have dahlias in the basement about to bloom....I'm afraid to plant them out for another few days....the ones I planted in the garden? About half are up already!

Columbus, OH

Quote from dahlianut :
A few things I'm excited about today. These are wild purpley things that I sowed a couple of weeks ago. The friend who gave the seed to me calls it 'wild purple spinach' which is weird cuz it gets about 4 ft tall and googleguy knows nothing about that. There are heirloom sweet peas seeded under the obelisk beside them which I hope will make a very luvly combo.

dahilianut, are your wild purpley things edible? How are they doing ?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Confussedlady Katye IDed it as Orach - Atriplex hortensis 'Burgandy' and supposedly they are edible and I will probably try them. It's also called 'mountain spinach' so I assume it tastes like spinach. They are coming along just fine. Katye do you eat yours?

Some of the bigger babies hanging out with me watching me direct sow and clean up the garden. Tonight will be their first night outside.

edit: correctifying to be readable as usual sigh.

Your coleus look so compact, I guess I should have asked you about the pinching sooner, mine are too leggy.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh palisandra & crimson gold should have been pinched a while ago... do it now Jen.. and if you have some soil and room stick the cuttings in
