Seeding/Cuttings Whose Growing?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

They are bigger than this now, I put them outside during the day lately, bring then in at night. The heat mat & dome is the only way I had any luck with them.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

OUTSTANDING pixie. hmmmm I shall have to make a new indoor growop spot cuz I can't plug anything else into the existing one or I trip the breaker hmmmmm

Thomaston, CT

Great looking plants, Pixie! And wait until they hit the manure in your soil....

I like the lighter tips on them!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

me too... first time growing this one.. I know there was a thread bashing SHS germination but I only had problems with 2 that didn't.. but 3 trays of them did.. only the 2 six packs did not.. not sure what the problem is.. no way shape or form do I consider myself an expert... and one of the 2 I grew perfectly last year.. just a bum year for the 1

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I luv the new one with the light tips onewish.

Thomaston, CT

I wanted to plant out my fall pansies today, but with such cold weather coming, I'll wait.

I like that tropical envoy

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Dnut - I think your purply spinach might be Orach - Atriplex hortensis 'Burgandy'. I have grown it for lotsa years & last year one of them went up almost 6'.
Edible - mildish Popeye flavour & doubles as an ornamental. My Bee buddies love it, so I grow extra for them - by Black Wizard Dahlia, of course. (I like various skirts for the dahls - makes them look like gigantic bouquets.)

Shiso Perilla is another pretty one - an herb/ornamental with an I-don't-know-how-to-categorize flavour. Oh - it's the Red one. It comes in green, too.

Both germinate readily here, so they ought to perform spectacularly for those of you who have warmer springs & summers.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

ooohh there is an ity bitty green blade of grass looking thing in my delph. pagan purples ... does that sound right?

Thomaston, CT

Hope so!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

me too.. not sure what they look like

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Delphiniums are dicots, so if you've got what looks like a blade of grass in there, it's an intruder.
Delph seedlings look like this:

Thanks Katye. That's it!

Thomaston, CT

Is that gravel you're growing them in, Katye?

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

not mine - so I'm not sure. Looks like granite chips, though.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

bummer

:(

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Allison, do you pinch the coleus to keep them from getting floppy?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes yes yes... pinch ... wait for for a little while.. then pinch again

This pot is supposed to be crocosmia. It looks like there is everything else under the sun growing in there BUT crocasmia. ROFLMAO @ myself about this one (snort)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

dnut did the rudbeckie seeds germinate?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

your potentilla looks like a winner!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

wha I have put them outside in the freezyness to try to jump start them. My fault cuz I started them in the indoor grow-op and we had furnace problems and things went awry with consistent temps. Thanks to your generousity with seed if these babys don't happen I will just try again next spring. Seed stash is in the seed fridge. Thanks onewish about the potentilla.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

hmmmmmm...the Crocosmia is not. Looks like 3 of my my local weeds.
Any chance this was from the PNW?
Crocosmia - I gots it. Does it need a phyto cert? I can dig them & send if no passport is req'd.
Lmk.

& Tas - ohmyohmyohmy! In all its red glory!
I need to check this site out - it's the 2ndish time you've mentioned Dan. In fact, I may go there in person.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

OLE OLE!! I love that red dahlia.

Thomaston, CT

The GH plants look so healthy, Dnut....& that dahlia is a knockout.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

LOL Katye methinks I have a luvly assortment of weeds in the crocosmia pot too and nada crocosmia! I am going to unearth them and see what's up with the corms. They were a grab bag and very dry so I soaked them but they might not be any good. Katye everything but seed needs a psycho-certificate sigh. This is my first year to order from Dan's. Jury's still out on some of his tubers cuz they haven't all sprouted yet.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

oh that requirement is sad.
But seed is ok, you say.....hmmmm - aren't Croc corms just really large seeds?
I think they look like seeds on steroids.
Sheesh. Gov't rules/regs.....

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I bet this thread is all about me now (snort) cuz everyone else is planting out. ok cuz it's all about me I will just post a few more pics of what I'm excited about. ok? well WHY NOT? ^_^ TAAA DAAA methinks this is really, truly a crocosmia

Lavender Crystal rose which doesn't count as a seedling/cutting but since it's all about me I figure I can cheat ^_^

And to close with a dahlia of the day methinks today I will choose....hmmmm (they are all so luvly)... the ever luvly Mango Sunset. Doesn't look very exciting does it?
